Deciding where to go for excellent Japanese food in Singapore used to be a daunting task. You can step into the Japanese Restaurants in 5 star hotels or higher, you can expect to pay exorbitant price. You go to normal shopping centre, you end up with some sushi franchise with a very standard quality. Fortunately in the past few years, there has been some Japanese restaurant popping up in Singapore providing excellent quality food with reasonable price. Please note that Chubby Botak Koala referring to “reasonable price” not cheap price.Located in Triple One Somerset, Fukuichi is slightly out of the way from the major traffic on Orchard Road. Little Devil, I and a guest visited Fukuichi on a Sunday and the Triple One Somerset is not very crowded. There were ample parking space in the building. From our seating, we actually have a glimpse of the Sushi Bar, which was well occupied that day.We started our meal with Yasai Stick (($8) and Tatami Iwashi ($9). The Yasai Stick is combination of raw vegetables with miso paste. The vegetables were chilled, so it remain fresh and crunchy. The miso paste is average, not the better ones. Meanwhile the Tatami Iwashi (Baby Japanese Anchovy) is light and crispy. Good appetizer. The Sashimi Moriawase (Jyo - $78) next to appear. It is the premium assorted cuts consist of swordfish, salmon belly, tuna, scallops, yellow tail and sweet prawns. The cuts are smooth, fresh and good in size.Next we have the Sushi Moriawase ($35) and Shake Aburi Maki ($22), which consist of salmon, scallop, sweet prawn, fish roe, unagi, tuna, swordfish, tamago and mini roll of tuna. The spread of the sushi selection is very good. The rice taste just nice, not lumpy and well balance vinegar taste. Shake Aburi Maki is a seared salmon roll. It seems that seared sushi are in trend at the moment, and the seared salmon just melts in your mouth. Foodgasm? Almost, but not there yet.For the cook food section, we proceed ordered Tako Karaage ($12), Niku Fagura Sauce ($35), Hiyashi Gyomen ($12) & Kaisen Zousui ($16). Tako Karaage or deep fried octopus was juicy, tender with a slight springy texture. It is not chewy and goes well lemon and mayonaise. Niku Fagura Sauce is grilled beef cube with foie gras sauce. The beef cube is tender, grilled to medium rare. It is juicy and tender, but the creamy foie gras sauce is just amazing. Yum Yum, definite foodgasm!!Hiyashi Gyomen is a cold fish noodle. A creative alternative to normal soba. I saw this in an Iron Chef show, so I could not resist to try it out. It is very springy and a bit chewy. The dipping sauce has some ginger in it to offset the fishy smell in the noodle. Very unique, but not to my liking. Kaisen Zousui is just the complete comfort food. It is a rice with seafood broth. The rice are well covered with different cuts of seafood. The clear broth is very robust. A very good way to end the meal.Unfortunately, it was not the end of the meal for us, we decided to satisfy a little bit more of our cravings. So come the Uni sushi ($20/pair), unagi (eel - $10/pair), anago (sea eel - $12/pair) and toro aburi sushi (seared tuna belly - $24/pair). Well LD has the perfect ending, with her uni. The sea eel taste lighter then the normal eel, which was good here. And the seared tuna belly just melts in your mouth. At this point of time, we were basically stuffed and happy to be rolled out from the restaurant.Service here is very friendly and attentive. The service staff even told us to stop ordering, as she was worried that we might ordered to much.Compliment to Chef John Phua for the excellent food and his friendliness. He even took time to post for the photo below. Thanks Chef!!Overall, we totally have a memorable dining experience dining in Fukuichi. The food is excellent in terms of freshness, quality and taste. Price is very reasonable. You get what you paid for. Our final bill was $348.40 inclusive GST and service tax. We look forward to our next visit. Kassai!!! Having been to Fukuichi Japanese Restaurant twice before (read about it here), the craving for their food just doesn't leave meService remains attentive and excellent, and ambience is still the same - quiet, exquisite and serene. I had my much-craved Cold Crabmeat Tofu - a very delicious and rich blend of crab-tofu served with a thick layering of mashed century egg, spring onions and scallions on top. The flavor is buttery, flavorful and refreshing.Next, the Cold Fish Noodles - something I had ordered by mistake. It somewhat slipped my mind that usually I ate the Hot Fish Noodles (the soup is fabulous), but this was one of their signatures as well, and it sure didn't disappoint. The noodles were springy with good texture that was not too hard nor soggy, and because it is made entirely of fish flesh, there was a tinge of sweetness to it. Dipped with the cold dark sauce that it is served with, this dish leaves one desiring for more. The next item I had was the Salmon Sashimi - slices of thick, fresh and sweet raw salmon that does not lose its bouncy texture. For more detailed information and photos, please feel free to visit:http://thearcticstar.blogspot.sg/2014/04/dinner-at-fukuichi-japanese-restaurant.html 繼續閱讀

My lunch nowadays was usually solved quick or fuss-free because of heavy workloads, yet I decided to step out office and slowly enjoyed at Fukuichi Japanese Dining Restaurant. Location was easily accessible, ambience was excellent for a quiet meal. Extensive range in Menu, every item looked appetizing delicious. Service wise, staffs were rather helpful and readily to assist us.Longish bento came in set was superb value for money, included starter, soup, main course and dessert. Salad dressing, Tempura and Teriyaki Fish were a filling portion with a bowl of rice, complimentary thickly soup was served along too. We ordered side dishes to share as well, Hand Roll Sushi was freshly-made and well-accompanied the crispy soft-shell crab. Salmon was soft yet chewy, seasoning was just nice for my liking. Most impressive unique dish was the Ebi Almond Tempura, overwhelming with excessively generous coat of Almond flakes which matched perfectly with sweetness of natural shell-less shrimps. Went on weekday lunch, thus it was not too crowded. Food quality was awesome with reasonably pricing, I will consider to re-visit again. 繼續閱讀

Rad my fullreviews & photos at = http://chefquak.com/2013/11/03/very-good-dinner-fukuichi-level-2-triple-one-on-30oct2013/we decided to order a bento each. my friend was not satisfied & insisted to order a sake (he was evidently in greater birthday mood than i & took 90% of the sake as i told him he would) & beef hobayaki S$38. i ordered a S$6 kani tofu to share as i read about it & wanted to try.we were served a complimentary kobachi to get started – a small dish with chopped tuna. this was tasty, a good appetizer. the bento also came with a salad, simple cut cabbage that was very refreshing & enjoyable with the ponzu dressing. the kani tofu (basically pitan tofu with crabmeat) was good, tasty though i thought the one with tobiko at hokkaido sushi was better.the bento was good quality. the sashimi (maguro, kajiki, sake) were all very sweet. the sushi & maki were competent. the pan-fried salmon was good, very tasty. the tempura were above average. :-)the beef (aussie) hobayaki with shitake mushrooms was quite good. i first came across this preparation at takayama. the local hida beef (飞弹牛) was an excellent wagyu, and was served on a magnolia beef (朴叶). i would rate this beef as equal to that served at dozo, not as good quality as that served at the clan. :-)in all, a very enjoyable dinner. though we meet often, we had very good chat before calling it quits for the night. 繼續閱讀

Had dinner at Fukuichi, it's located in a relatively quiet mall. Place was quite crowded when we reached, suggest to reserve before visiting. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and the interior decoration was beautiful. We ordered a salmon maki to share, the salmon is soft to the taste, and is very delicious. The mayonnaise makes the salmon more fragrant, and the addition of the juicy roe makes it perfect. We also shared a dinner set, the fish was awesome. It's fried but juicy, and the sauce makes it very yummy. There's some ginger mixed into the sauce, which gives it a very fragrant smell. One of the best fish I've had in a Japanese restaurant. The tempura was good too, it wasn't too fried and the prawns were very fresh. Enjoyed dinner here! 繼續閱讀
