 An unique finding in Insadong Korea Town is that they use self-ordering kiosks to order the food. There are a total of 6 kiosks available. Though this is uncommon is Singapore, but if you go to Korea, many restaurant and eatery are using self-ordering kiosks.

 First dish was Toppoki (Korean Rice Cake).

Toppoki is a popular Korean street snack. The soft rice cake was coated with the chili paste has a balance combination of sweet and spicy. Every bite tasted delicious and it indeed spiced up my appetite.

 Second dish was Kimchi Pancake.

This is yet another great appetizer that I enjoyed eating.The savory pancakes were super delicious. Dipping it with vinegar soy sauce covered the spiciness of the kimchi pancake.

 Third dish up was Ginseng Chicken Soup ($28).

The taste of ginseng chicken soup was just right, it did not have the strong ginseng taste.

 We added the milk into the soup to give a mild sweet taste to the soup.

The chicken was soft and tender. We wiped almost everything for this, the soup was so flavourful with so many ingredients in it.

 Another popular dish in Korea, Bossam ($15).

I was blown away at the taste of it. The kimchi has bring out the hot and spiciness of the flavour. The spicy paste added to it helped to enhance the overall taste with a mild sweet-spicy taste, giving it a blast.

 The correct way to eat it was to take a bit of the lettuce, add pork belly, kimchi, garlic on top of it and put some spicy paste, wrapped it and finished in one mouth.

 Xiao Long Bao in Kimchi Soup ($13) found at Korea-Chinese stall.

The juicy and tender xiao long bao in kimchi soup has a more intense flavour than the usual chinese style. With each mouthful, I could taste the chewy minced pork filled with piping hot kimchi broth. It tasted marvelous.

 The cream-based Pumpkin spaghetti.

Best to eat it while it is hot. The spaghetti was coated with rich cheesy sauce that gives a flavourful taste.

Best to have it share if you come in a big group. The ingredients in it were super generous.

 This is Insadong's famous J-Cone ice-cream ($6).

The J-shaped snack aka Jipangyi is made of corn and vanilla ice-cream was injected into the corn. The corn was a bit hard so you will need to bite harder.

 We ended the meal with Mixed Fruit Shaved Ice, something sweet, cooling and refreshing after a hearty meal.

Insadong Korea Town is definitely a great place to relax and enjoy great Korean food with your friends and family after a day of fun at Resorts World Sentosa.

 Welcome by the colorful lanterns of the walkway entrance with several self service kiosks line up in a row. These artificial intelligence machines had brought advancement to our dining experience where diners can get to view all 200 over dishes in the system and pay directly.

 Being proud of their own culture, almost 99% of the furnishings were shipped directly from korea including the titles, food kiosk as well as lattice. Not only that the Insadong Korean Town project group like architect and contractors were all handled by Korean.

 Interestingly, besides the Authentic Korean Cuisine that we have all known, Korean cuisine does have their fusion with chinese, Japanese as well as western food. Thus I would say that Insadong is all well prepared to fix the majority tastebuds even with the different kinds of tourists coming from different parts of the world. A look over to the kitchen-linked counters will simply tell us more.

 The first dish that keeps the ball rolling was none other than this korean Staple, Toppoki. Carbo based, its a dish that fills up the stomach fast. Unlike the traditional chinese rice cakes that comes in flat forms, these korean Rice cake are in tubes form lavished in their spicy sweet sauce with sesame seeds.

 Next on our table was the Kimchi Pancake, a hearty snack or appetizer to koreans. Im always amazed by the use of Kimchi in their meal from being an appetizer or side to even in making pancakes. Mixing the multipurpose kimchi with flour and egg, the koreans have it whipped up as another dish on the table. Every piece was rather weighty and soft with a crunchy touch on the pancake's circumference.

 I'm always overwhelmed by their refillable sides and appetizers which filled up the entire dining table at a korean restaurant. Luckily what we were given comes in a tray of three with pickles, anchovies & kimchi.

 Ginseng chicken Soup is one of my favourite dish from the Korean menu. After some sharings from the lady boss, I learnt that Ginseng Chicken Soup can consumed in 2 different style, the plain and the milky form. Traditionally, chicken was stuffed with soaked sweet glutinous rice, herbs like gingko nuts, chestnuts and ginseng were added to boil out its maximum flavours.

The chicken is served in whole as one serving. The gingseng flavoured meat is tender and tasty with the rich soup being rich and delicious.

 Enjoying bossam involves in wrapping lettuce with the delicious boiled pork with various items like kimchi, cut green chilli and garlic pieces then add a little bean paste or chilli for taste. The meat is boiled in a flavourful brine until it turned tender and sliced into pieces.

 Having Xiao Long Baos in Kimchi soup has never come across my mind and I was startled by how creative the koreans are! If the soup is not spicy enough, additional chilli is given to suit your taste buds.

 I was enlightened by the style of how Soju was served. About 1/4 of the watermelon was cut off and flesh from the watermelon was already blended into juice. Furthermore, the big watermelon was set to chill in the bowl of ice.

 Pumpkin Spaghetti brought another surprise on the table. I have not try anything korean with fusion of western thus I' was rather eager to try out the dish.Initially I thought the spaghetti was salted egg yolk based due to that its creamy sauce was in bright attractive yellow. Strangely, a pleasant combination indeed. I'm not a pasta fan but I find this superb.

 Remember to keep some of the Beef Bulgogi Baked Rice for the next dish.
It is common to see 2 koreans sharing such a big portion. Usually we will share among 4 or more with a similar size of Bulgogi Hotpot. The Bulgogi hotpot somehow reminds me of Mookata from the Thai Cuisine as there are similarities from the pot used - bulging in the middle of the pot.

Heaps of vegetables like enoki, carrots, mushrooms, onions, lettuce were part of the mountain with its peak filled by marinated beef.

 With the help of Chef Emily (Korean) expertise, every item was cooked evenly. This involve constant stirring and cutting of the items at right temperature to retain the juiciness of the food.

 The red bean pancakes are not forgotten! Simply love the golden brown fragrant sight with sesame seeds topped the dish. Red Bean Fillings are semi-sweet.

 Of all the waits and finally we had hit the desserts items. Presenting the JCone (in korean "jipangyi") - a common corn snack in korea that comes in a Letter J Shape injected with vanilla ice cream.

 Last but not least, the mixed fruit ice. Such colorful desserts gave a happy ending to the meal, always. With a scoop of vanilla ice cream and cherry topped the shaved ice, its another temptation we could not resist even though we are full from the meal, we still kept "another stomach" for such desserts!

 Insadong Korea Town is an eye opener to me. It really give me a close feel on how Korea has changed since my last visit to Seoul about 10 years back.

Insadong Korean Town is a newly opened Korean Food Court located at Resorts World Sentosa. The opening of this Korean Town has gathered many attention both from the locals and tourists.

What I found unique about the food court was the ordering system. First we choose what we want to eat on the computer, then we put in the money and voila the receipt come out and we just have to get the food from the counter.

Be careful though as sometimes the machine can be troublesome. When I wanted to put in the money, the machine could not accept it. So, the manager had to open the machine and gave us the change.

Food

1. Japchae
Brilliant seasoning but not so well done glass noodle. The texture was pretty hard.

2. Naeng Myeon
The noodle was not cooked well but the seasoning was excellent. An ideal dish to handle the heat.

3. Tteokbokki
The sauce was alright but again the texture of the rice cake was pretty hard. It was not chewy at all.

4. J-cone (More like U cone)
 Crunchy and the vanilla ice cream was tasty enough. But I don’t find it impressive at all.

Among all the food that I tried, nothing can be called as extraordinary. If I have to choose two items, I’ll choose the Naeng Myeon and the J-cone. Although, I can’t say I was impress by those dishes.

 A comforting dish especially so on rainy days! This dish is similar to what was served in Korea. In the chicken, you'll find glutinous rice and ginseng. Also, with the small bowl of milk to added into the soup just brings the richer and denser taste to the soup.

This ordering kiosk is user friendly and comes in 3 languages. As told, they will be having more languages to better cater to the mass, especially when it is located at Resort World Sentosa. As of current, it only accept cash payment but more mode of payments will be implemeted, including accepting credit card payment and Resort World Sentosa Reward’s Card.

Basically, one will just have to select what we want to order and its quantity. Once done, just press on the green button at the bottom right and a receipt will be dispensed. Present the receipt at the counter and in exchange, they will pass you a ‘beeper’ that will beep once the food is ready. Nothing new as Marché is using this concept too.

Totally spoiled for choice!

The first dish being served was non other than the traditional tteokbokki. Lightly garnished with white sesame seeds, a great appetizer to start with.

Next comes the Ginseng Chicken Soup. This is one of my favourite as I am always a fan of herbal soup. The ginseng taste is just nice, not too strong such as its overpowering the taste of the soup.

Another of my favourite is the Bossam. Bossam is a popular pork dish in Korean cuisine whereby the pork belly is thinly sliced and usually served with sides such as garlic, ssamjung (wrap sauce), kimchi etc. Upon eating, the meat and sides are often wrapped in vegetable leaves, hence the literal meaning of Bossam. I’ll have to admit that the pork served is of good quality, especially when it is priced at S$15 only!

For the dessert, we have J-Cone! J-Cone is widely sold in Korea. It is basically a J-shaped cone with ice-cream in it. So if you spot anyone eating this J-shaped looking thing at Resort World Sentosa, you know it’s from.

A great thank you to The Influence Network (TIN) for organizing this food tasting session. Insadong Korea Town is definitely a great place to relax and enjoy great Korean food with your friends and family after a day of fun at Resorts World Sentosa. On top of it, it is at an affordable price, especially when most dining places in Resort World Sentosa are priced heftily.
