JPOT, part of the Jumbo Group, was founded in 2009 and in my opinion, is one of the best steamboat restaurants in Singapore. Even though Hai Di Lao service standards and frills are absent, service is nonetheless polite and efficient and the food standards are comparable.
JPOT employs the use of technology to speed things up and free staff for other tasks. When you arrive, get your queue number from an automated machine. A wait staff will lead you to your table once your number appears on the screen. Upon seated, you can proceed to browse and order from the electronic menu on the iPad affixed to each table. The system will calculate the total spending (excluding GST and service charge) which we find helpful to curb overspending due to over-zealous ordering.
Condiments are displayed a la buffet style and include chilli padi, fried garlic, fresh garlic, ground peanut, roasted sesame, chilli oil, garlic oil, sha cha sauce, sesame oil, sesame peanut sauce, garlic chilli sauce, soya sauce, Chinese parsley, spring onion and leek.
What we like about Jpot is how hygienic everything is- individual pots and thongs are provided for each diner. Unlike large sharing pots where you can opt for 2 soup bases, at JPOT, you only get one. However, with individual pots, you have total control, and do not have to coordinate cooking times with your dining companions. Soup base choices include Superior broth, herbal bak ku teh, silky porridge, laksa, tom yam and vegetarian. I hope that they’ll have Mala soon!
The quality of the soup bases are excellent, and the ingredients sparkling fresh. I had the Herbal broth ($5.80), a calming, comforting soup with layered flavors. It didn’t take long for the food to arrive; we had Seaweed ($2.50) and Tang-O ($4.80).
Fishballs ($5), Sliced Toman Fish ($7.80), Vermicelli ($2) and Sea Cucumber ($9.80).
Grain-Fed Ribeye ($12.80) and Prawns ($10.80) deshelled and deveined for convenience.
Fried items and dim sums are also available to give your palate a break from hotpot food. Spinach Beancurd ($4.80) and Fried Shrimp Dumpling ($5.80) never fail to grace our table when we are at JPOT.
Not only does JPOT have a wide variety of offerings, the food is utterly scrumptious too! We could eat here again and again, without getting tired of it. To stretch your dollar, go for the set lunches which start from an incredible value-for-money $16.80++. The Vivocity outlet is particularly crowded on weekends, hence do make reservations well in advance!

Ambience in Jpot was good, well lighted and with spacious dining area, what's more I like it best when I dont walk out smelling like a hot pot - that means ventilation was already well taken care of!

Supported by the team of Jumbo Seafood, it already gave us strong assurance in the quality as well as standard of the food. So fret not, we just headed into the restaurant. Chinese New Year festive mood was all round in the atmosphere especially when hot pot is part and parcel of our reunion dinner in most families, not to mentioned that the place is ideally crowded.

Servers were polite and asked if we prefer the Set Meal or the ala carte and of course we had chosen the latter since there were only 3 of us dining. With the aid of technology advancement, tablets were all mounted to the dining table, positioned to an easy reach for all diners. Such ordering system reminds me of the Thai's MK Restaurant as well as China's Hai Di Lao. It seems that such advancement is indispensable now. The only disadvantage to the senior citizen of my family is that it's quite hard to familiarize themselves with such devices in a short moment. Nevertheless, there are always some members from the family who will order and explain the ongoings,
. Else, I believe the servers are always ready to perform their best in job.

Whereas the adventurous one ordered Bak Kut Teh which had pork ribs included in the broth. However the peppery semi clear broth was not to my liking as I prefer those in dark sauce.

What I like best was their Cheese Pork Balls that was served elegantly with a thin long slice of cucumber as based. Be careful when its out especially when the cheese will ooze out burning the tongue if precautions are not taken.

Having Jpot is just like having steamboat on a small scale whereby you order what you can eat on a ala carte basis unlike dining in the usual hotpot, we tend to over order thinking that someone else on the table might want to eat, thus minimizing wastage in a way.

I do admit I like their environment but the variety of food was quite limited and quantity given was limited. Price may be a little dear for some. Overall, its still fine if you want to have some

That's my 1st time going to Jpot...

Knowing there's a set menu
1) Menu D, $68 for 2 pax comprising of:-
(A) Soup (choice of 4 items) – We were each given our individual pots and we went with (clockwise, top left) fish head soup (additional $1), bak kut teh, JPOT superior broth and tom yum from the 9 flavours that were available. And all were pretty good although bak kut teh was not a very versatile soup base to be cooking ingredients like prawns as it altered its flavour.
(B) Spinach & mushroom

Food is not bad especially the minced meat on bamboo stick. after cooking, it taste juicy with the freshness of the ingredients, flavorful and its fun to do your own meatballs as you scrap ido into the pot from the bamboo holder...

JPOT is largely self-service, although food orders and bills are presented by staff. I also noticed that staff are quite efficient are clearing away empty / dirty plates. Otherwise, there isn't much interaction.

There is a good range and variety of food at JPOT. Besides the 7 varieties of soup base, there is almost 90 items on the menu, ranging from meat to seafood to vegetables and even dim sum. However, prices at JPOT are quite expensive, as it's not a buffet but ala-carte, amounting to about SGD $25 and above per person. And the quantity provided isn't much either.

I chose the Silky Porridge Soup Base since I’ve heard good reviews about it and other places don’t offer this. It wasn’t porridge per se, meaning there weren’t any grains in it. Instead it was more like a slightly starchy rice water (trust me it’s not as gross as it sounds) which was not bad. There was already some taste and flavour before I added in any ingredients.

Seafood Platter
This platter was huge! It consisted of live prawns, sliced fish, scallop, handmade prawn ball and fish ball, sea clam, shrimp dumplings, siew mai, tau pok with fish paste, red chilli with fish paste and fish paste tofu. Overall I did not enjoy most of the things here especially the yong tau fu, siew mai and dumplings etc which were soso/not very nice. I liked the fish and scallops though, and the handmade prawn ball was really good. You could still see small chunks of prawns in the prawn ball.

Beef Short Rib and Kurobuta Pork
There were a few choices of meat to choose from – Beef Short Rib, Kurobuta Pork, Pork Loin, Chicken, Marinated Beef, Marinated Pork and Marinated Chicken. We chose the first 2. The Meat were not bad but I’ve had better ones elsewhere.

Platter of Homemade Spinach Skin Beancurd, Fried Beancurd Skin, Fried Fish Skin and Fried Wanton
I liked everything in this platter! Everything was crisp and nicely fried and not oily at all. I placed some of the fried fish skin into my silky porridge and it was quite nice! The fish skin was really crispy so even though I placed it in the porridge for about a min, it did not turn soggy at all.

In the set there was also Spinach, Tang-O and Enoki Mushroom included. For the carbs you could choose 2 items from either rice, Laksa noodle, vermicelli, instant noodle and pho/thin hor fun.

It worked out to be about $40/pax and for this price and quality I really think that it’s not worth it (don’t forget this is a set so you may not necessarily like all the items included). I ordered ala carte at Crystal Jade Steamboat (Zhongshan Mall) and really enjoyed all the food and spent only $32/pax.

We created our personalized dipping sauce, I mixed up a mess.

All of us stayed on our own bowl, be chef and cook according to own preference. What a fun and joy experience I had ever, except their service. Just forget about the price tag, I would not hesitate to visit J Pot again.

For diners who prefer stronger tasting soup base, I would suggest bak kut teh, herbal or tomyum soup base. We ordered quite a number of food items, the most yummy would be the beef short rib. It's like shabu shabu kind of thinly sliced beef, very tender and doesn't take long to cook. The beef also added taste to the soup, making it even more delicious. The chicken was not bad too, quite soft and tender. We had the kurobuta pork with asparagus as well, but I feel that the pork taste was quite strong even though I cooked the pork for quite long. Didn't really like it. Overall was an okay dining experience!

Food variety is pretty good, ranging from meats to seafood to vegetable, as well as cooked stuff. To see more, you can refer to their menu online.

Overall, I think this will definitely be my choice if I feel like eating steamboat. Food wise, it actually dun diff much from other steamboat places, but in term of the environment wise, it definitely scores a better grade.

I went there with my friend, with an advanced booking. Each of us have a mini steamboat pot in front of us. We had the JPOT Superior Broth and Herbal one. Their food is very fresh and I love their cheeseballs! There's one interesting thing that there's a computer kind menu beside, so we just click what we want and we also can see our total from there. Service wise is very good too, highly recommend But one bad point is that it is too expensive, 2 persons' total damage cost us $100++!

Anw we managed to get a table at around 7.30pm, not too bad right!! We ordered the set for 4 persons at 96++, there's another premium set which was around 100+ for 4 persons as well, but for more items. But we went for the cheaper one, and was so disappointed with the amount of food in the set that's barely enough to fill our stomachs. It just looks like a lot because there's more vegetables than me.

I suggest to order ala carte, you get to choose what you like! I highly recommend the marinated meats! As for the broths, we had the JPOT superior broths, the porridge one and herbal one. I recommend the JPOT superior broth! It's great! The quality of the food was actually quite good, just don't order the set because it's not more worth it.

I always love steamboat. It's very neutral, can always have it alone or with friends and family. Just prepare the quantity according to how much you want. Lazy to DIY? Lots of choices when you are out.Heard about JPOT but never really get to try it cause i don't go to Vivo City very often. Finally arranged to go down with my best friend. I always love steamboat. It's very neutral, can always have it alone or with friends and family. Just prepare the quantity according to how much you want. Lazy to DIY? Lots of choices when you are out.

Heard about JPOT but never really get to try it cause i don't go to Vivo City very often. Finally arranged to go down with my best friend. Decided to just go for one of the basic set and just ordered this ala carte item - Jumbo meatball. Soup base, we had the tom yum and bak kut teh.

Quantity wise, i find it ok for two ladies. Quality and freshness of the food is good too! Both of us enjoyed the soup base too. It's definitely a place i will re-visit again.

there are various soup based to choose from ( about 4-5). you can choose 2 pots for sharing or 1 pot for each pax. however, we took 2 pots for sharing (jpot special broth and tom yam soup based ~ refillable). The ingredients is ala carte based and each plate cost about 0.5 ( for egg) until X amount ( cos they sell fresh seafood so it depends on the weight ). The ingredients comes in small plates which i find the quantity is very small so we ended up ordering repeated ingredients or double the quantity for each order ( imagine chicken hotdog comes in 2 pieces only lol per 1 order).

You also need to mix your own sauce for the food which i feel it will taste a little weird with sesame sauce + chilli paste + soya sauce + x sauce lol. so i insist on sesame sauce only lol

Overall
Food : *** ( Tom yam is not as spicy. Jpot special broth is good,)
Price : **** (slightly steep, is about 109 in total and we did not order very expensive ingredients =( )
Customer service : ** ( we asked for refill but it took them ages to do it. We had to ask multiple staff to refill and only 1 managed to do it in the end.)

some of the must try ingredient i feel : fried bean curb, prawn noodles, meat balls

My friends and I actually heard and saw alot of good reviews about this restaurant, so we decided to give it a try and was having quite a high expectation for the food. We went there at around 7pm, there were no seats so we were 2nd on the waiting list. We left one of our contact number with them and the staff will call us when there are seats. While waiting, we could go shop around vivo which was good. We finally got seats at 7.30pm, half an hour of waiting time. For this steamboat, each person

For this steamboat, each person actually have their own pot of soup, so each one of us could choose whichever flavour we like. Looking at the menu, we came across this dinner set which cost $98++ for 4 person. Just nice that there were 4 of us so we decided to order this instead of ala carte, thinking that it will be more worth.
As for the soup, i decided to go for the JPOT superior,

However when the food came, we were actually quite shocked at the amount of food that was in the dinner set! Was that all the food that was in the set dinner?

Seafood platter. There were 4 of us, and by sharing it equally, each one of us only have 2 prawns, 1 slice of fish, 1 slice of squid, 2 pieces of scallop!

There are only 2 quail eggs for the 4 of us?
There are still rice, laska noodles, vegetable, enoki mushroom and fried wonton(not in picture). That's is all in the dinner set and the portion is so little. Most importantly, it cost $98++. which cost close to $30 per person.
The variety of food is already so little, and the portion is so small!
This meal was disappointing, most of the time we were drinking the soup to fill our stomach. Although the food are fresh, but the food portion is way too little and is so expensive. We are not sure whether it will be cheaper by ordering ala carte, perhaps...
