Chinese New Year Dinner

This Chinese new year I am invited to the Chinese new year dinner organised by the Nee Soon East CC. The dinner is catered by Sin Swee Moi Catering Service. Prosperity Yu ShengAs there are many people in this dinner, we have to proceeds to add ingredients such as the fish, the crackers and the sauces while saying "auspicious wishes" (吉祥话 or Jíxiáng Huà) as each ingredient is added, typically related to the specific ingredient being added.We have great fun tossing the dish together.Yi Pin Hotpot

The soup is quite thick and is full items such as chicken, fish maw and mushrooms. Very filling.

Full of crispy vegetables but the yam ring is not crispy enough. It also tastes a bit too oily to me too.

Served in foil, the duck is quite tender. The soup in the dish is quite flavourful.

The oyster is quite juicy and balanced the taste of the vegetables.

 Lastly we end the meal with Yam Paste with Pumpkin for dessert. I like it that it does not taste too sweet.

 Overall the food is not bad and quite standard. Drink is refilled regularly.

 Fried Rice wrapped in Lotus Leaf

Attending the Mother's Day Dinner at Nee Soon East CC. The first 3 dishes are served very fast. We are barely finished when the next dishs turn up. The servings are all quite big. We are all very full when we are half way through the meal. By the time the fried rice in lotus leaf is served, we asked the aunty to pack it up for takeaway. Really cannot take in anymore. We ends the meal with the usual hot mashed yam for dessert. The food tastes okay but getting too common as they are always the same dishes. Service is poor, difficult in getting attention of the aunties.
