Lunch at The Salad Shop

I discovered this place place that serves fresh, create-your-own salad for SGD$10.00 (6 items), SGD$12.00 (for 6 basic items + 2 Toppings) or SGD$13.00 (for 6 basic items + Toppings + 2 Prime items). This salad cost me SGD$13.00, and we tick all the items we want on an order chit placed on the tables.My salad base was Lettuce. I discovered this place place that serves fresh, create-your-own salad for SGD$10.00 (6 items), SGD$12.00 (for 6 basic items + 2 Toppings) or SGD$13.00 (for 6 basic items + Toppings + 2 Prime items). This salad cost me SGD$13.00, and we tick all the items we want on an order chit placed on the tables.
My salad base was Lettuce. The 6 main items I chose were hard-boiled egg, kidney beans, black olives, carrot, cherry tomatoes and parmesan cheese. The 2 Toppings (I'd only added this tier so I could add on the next 2 prime items) were cashew nuts and avocado. Then the main item I wanted (next 2 items) were the dried blueberries and prawns.
I chose the vinaigrette dressing, so it gave the salad a citrusy, refreshing flavor. Overall, the salad comprised of rather fresh ingredients, but I thought that the overwhelming amount of ingredients made it rather hard to chew.

Wanting to keep a healthy diet, we decided to have salad for lunch as vegetables are light and healthy to the body. There is a wide variety of vegetables and ingredients to pick and mix. I ordered lettuce, croutons, corns, tomatos, chicken meat slices and peach mixed in thousand island salad dressing. It costs $11.90 for the bowl of salad which I feel is worth the money.

The Salad Shop

All greens is always healthy and I decided to try The Salad Shop located at 6 Battery Road. The shop is packed with people dining in and taking away. They have an interesting concept where you can select the salad bowl size and the different types of vegetables, ingredients and dressing. I chose pasta and some sweet sauce. It costs $13.50, the meal was value for money.

The salad shop is always very crowded during lunch time and you have to be there early to secure a seat. The salad bowls come in different sizes and I prefer “Rabbit” size of all. You can choose the combination of vegetables, salad dressing and ingredients. The cheese were fresh, corns were juicy, paired with pasta and potatoes. I paid $12 for a delicious bowl of salad.

The order form
Pick up the order form and start filling up before queuing up and paying .
Firstly, choose the salad base
Next, select the salad size, feeds and dressing.
Then, proceed to the salad bar with the completed form and to the cashier to pay .
Lastly, wait for your salad to be served to you (dining in)


The Salad bar
The people are busy preparing the salads. The queue is super long especially during lunch hours. It is advised to go before / after lunch hours to avoid standing around to wait for an empty tables and may even have to share tables. The Salad Shop is rather small thus it gets so crowded and packed during lunch hours. I don’t think it is an ideal place if you want to enjoy your salad in peace ( too many people staring, sort of rushing you to quickly finish up your food so they can occupy your seat).


My own creation ($12)
Complimentary bread being provided at the service station. You can take as many as you want ( dun be a cheapo and waste food).
I opted for the ” Elephant size” which allows me to have 6 main feeds, 2 supp feeds and 1 prime feed. My salad has alfalfa sprouts, brocolli, roasted pumpkin, onions, tomatoes, raisins, roasted peppers, grilled zucchini & Chicken Tikka tossed in Sun-dried tomato vinaigrette ( they offer 23 types of dressings). The salad is also well-tossed. You can opt for less / more dressing/ dressing @ the side.The ingredients were fresh and comes in huge pieces.

Verdict : The salad was good , mainly due to the variety of fresh ingredients. But considering the crazy Q, I was hesitating whether to return.
