In River Safari, there is only 2 restaurants : River Tea House, which is outside the entrance and Mama Panda Kitchen, which is next to the panda exhibit. Since we are just out from visiting the pandas, we decide to drop by Mama Panda Kitchen for a bite. The restaurant is styled like a Chinese version of fast food restaurant. Since we are just out from visiting the pandas, we decide to drop by Mama Panda Kitchen for a bite. The restaurant is styled like a Chinese version of fast food restaurant.
As it is weekend, the place is quite crowded, with long queues of people. There is only 2 cashier counters with people queuing up to the door. It is difficult to find a table, as well as, difficult to find people to clear the table.
Remember to help yourself to the sauces and utensils at the counter next to the door.
The soft drink which costs $3.90, is served in a cute printed souvenir cup, which can take home. (Note that it considers cheap in River Safari as a bottle of soft drink at the vending machine costs $4 and a ice blend at the push cart costs $7.90).
The Giant Panda Cappuccino is served in a big cup and costs $5.50 a cup. It looks quite cute with the panda picture on the foam. But it tastes quite watered down, with mostly foam.
The Crispy Chicken with Salt and Pepper tastes average and costs $6.90 a serving.
Also orders a Vegetarian Bamboo Rice Set C which costs $15.90. It comes with Bamboo Shoot, Yam and Mixed Pea Bamboo Rice, Chunky Vegetarian Soup,and Longan Beancurd. Although it is listed as vegetarian set, chopped spring onions can found in the soup. So Chinese vegetarian please take note of this.
The steamed rice is quite plain in taste. Luckily there is chopped chilli to add flavour to the rice.Overall the food is nothing to shout about. The service is poor too maybe due to the crowd.
