After my previous not so good experience at the Toa Payoh branch, I decided to revisit the Jurong East branch to see if the standards really differ. I was there yesterday and the queue is still as long as I remembered it to be. It was around a good 15minutes before I could place my order. I got the pork paus(pictured) and the char siew paus(not pictured) and hargow (not pictured). The hargow is good. Definitely not like the ones I have tasted from the Toa Payoh branch. The hargow is good. Definitely not like the ones I have tasted from the Toa Payoh branch. The skin is thinner and the filling is yummy. The pork paus are not as nice as the char siew paus in my opinion. The skin is a bit too thick for my liking, unlike the char siew paus. Also, the pork filling is just so-so, about the same as your average khong guan pork paus. The char siew paus are different, in that the meat is so much more flavourful and oozing with juices. Do get the char siew paus if you want a meat pau!
