Total cost was $11.20. Their dim sums tasted above average. We had their porridge, chee cheong fun, carrot cake, fried prawn dumpling, yam dumpling, peanut sesame seed ball, char siew pastry, egg tart, and char siew bun. The bun was soft and fluffy and proportion of char siew fillings to the bun was just nice. The char siew fillings were moist and had a sweet taste to it. The simple toppings of pepper and green onion complemented the light-tasting porridge well.

worth the try!

This is so awesome! My first time trying this despite I am living in Jurong! For 1 dou sa pau, 1 char siew pau, 1 carrot cake and 1 char siew su costs $3.50 in total. I am not sure if they are hand made but they all taste awesome. The queue is freaking long, you will need 10 minutes before you are order your food. But it is really worth the time. I like the char siew su the most; sweet char siew with a crispy texture and nice golden brown glazing on it!

Brought mum here for breakfast, was lucky to get a carpark lot coz its usually jammed pack on Saturday and Sunday mornings. You order at the counter area which also displays a full range of fried items from poh piah to egg tart to fried dumpling etc. There is also the steamed items like har gao, siew mai, chicken leg etc. I ordered the chee cheong fun (standard comes with bbq pork), har gao, chicken feet and spare ribs, and century egg porridge. I would say food wise its slightly above average,

I would say food wise its slightly above average, but the spare ribs is one of the meatier ones that i've tried before. Chicken feet fortunately wasn't too oily as well. Overall you will feel its made fresh on the spot. My bill adds up to $11 + $1.80 for 2 cups of coffee (buy it next stall beside dim sum but also from TBP).

Char Siew bao are moist, chopped into small fine pieces and together with the sweet tasting red char siew sauce. Abit of fatty meat can be seen but this add on to the fragrance from a Char Siew Bao!

Although one Deep fried Yam puff just enough enough for 2 to share, I would say this is heavenly. Deep fried with flaky thin crust of pastry at the exterior with light taste of yam paste oozed out as we bite on it. Wrapped with sweet char siew meat in the core and with a second layer as yam paste and the third the crispy outlook. Yammy!
Cost: S$0.90

The luring Chicken Glutinous Rice (Lo Mai Kai) was placed before me, also tastes different from the normal mai kai I got from Sheng Siong. Not as peppery as I thought (phew!), and on the contrast,

Big Chicken Pau has given me a different aspect on most of the chicken bun. Minced chicken meat are seen commonly in most of the chicken bun but in Tiong Bahru Pau, what I received was a big full chunk of chicken meat marinated deep in taste with fragrance sweet sauce all over it, encased by white soft & tender pau skin!

Service
Workers are seen in the kitchen with their hands fully occupied with the dim sums. Tiong Bahru dim sums are delicately hand made and served. No wonder its fresh and tasty.

Ambience
It seems like the coffee shop had been revamped. Very spacious with new furniture and wall fittings. A definite quiet place to enjoy great hand made dim sum on the spot!

Price
Standards have pretty matched most our taste buds with cost-saving alternative to dine-in in a neighborhood estate.

Recommendation / Tips
Love the way they present to their customer that their food is fresh by having workers to produce & hand-made the dim sum right in the kitchen, openly. Having said this, some of their dim sums are unavailable, if you want to enjoy more of their great stuff, fasten your footsteps.!

This deep fried spring rolls from this dim sum shop has so many ranges to choose from which I am so much confused on which to choose from. However, among all, their deep fried spring rolls are one of my favourite choice. It is very crispy on the outer surface and love those vegetables in it which are really fragrant, sweet and with a bit of spicyness in it (most probably from the pepper added in it). The price is reasonable too.

After my previous not so good experience at the Toa Payoh branch, I decided to revisit the Jurong East branch to see if the standards really differ. I was there yesterday and the queue is still as long as I remembered it to be. It was around a good 15minutes before I could place my order. I got the pork paus(pictured) and the char siew paus(not pictured) and hargow (not pictured). The hargow is good. Definitely not like the ones I have tasted from the Toa Payoh branch.

The skin is thinner and the filling is yummy. The pork paus are not as nice as the char siew paus in my opinion. The skin is a bit too thick for my liking, unlike the char siew paus. Also, the pork filling is just so-so, about the same as your average khong guan pork paus. The char siew paus are different, in that the meat is so much more flavourful and oozing with juices. Do get the char siew paus if you want a meat pau!
