I am always a big fan of gyoza so imagine my joy when I discovered this newly opened osaka handmade gyoza stall in Raffles City! It was new years eve and the whole place was packed with many diners. I was first attracted by its reasonable price and the lure of a plate of gyoza that goes with every set meal.I had the ramen set ($11.90) that comes with 6 gyozas! The Japanese couple who were sitting beside us also ordered the same set. I like how big the portion was- initially I was wary of the portion since the bowl of ramen came with half a braised egg and 2 big juicy pieces of meat. The noodles were extremely springy- just what I like and I could hear the Japanese slurping happily too! The vingear goes perfectly with the gyozas as there was a tinge of sourness that complemented the meat stuffing. I aooreciated how the gyoza was pan fried to a nice golden brown colour and the skin was not too thick Definitely worth the money!
My boyfriend had ordered the crispy chicken stew set ($13.90) that came with 2 pieces of gyoza. The stew came with a generous serving of stir fried onions and chicken chunks. The chicken was juicy and tender too.
In terms of service, despite the huge crowd, the service was very efficient. Food was promptly served and kudos to the waiters who answered to our enquires when we clarified with them with regards to the menu. They were also fast to provide us with additional napkins and the refill of the hot green tea when we prompted them to do so. I will definitely go back there another time with my friends- for the excellent affordable Japanese food as well as the notable service! Cheers!
