I am a fan of sergeant Kiang and its chicken rice. I started eating his chicken rice even before he sold its brand name to the Food Republic. I ordered a basic chicken rice when i was there at the Food Republic food court. The taste of the chicken was not as fragrant and tender as before. I was given the breast part and it tasted rather dry. The taste of the rice has lack the robust flavor and the texture was a bit too grainy to my liking. I was given the breast part and it tasted rather dry. The taste of the rice has lack the robust flavor and the texture was a bit too grainy to my liking. The chilli did not taste as nice as before too as the spiciness is not as distinctive. Importantly, it is rather pricey with a rather small portion given.
Lastly, i have got a good news to share. Sergeant Kiang, the founder of Sergeant Hainanese Chicken Rice has reopened his chicken rice stall at HOUGANG 1 about a week ago.
