Open House is located right in the middle of Orchard Road at Grand Park Orchard Hotel. The restaurant is decorated in shades of grey and green. The restaurant has limited selection for its buffet as it quite small in space. But there is great view of orchard to make up for it. Roasted Meat Station : Char Siew, Roasted Duck, Soya Sauce Chicken, Roasted Pork, and green leafy vegetables. The staff at the counter has helpfully asked if I take pork and made a platter of assorted meat for me. It is served with plum sauce, garlic chili sauce and a wasabi tasting mustard sauce. The char siew is not char burnt. The soya sauce chicken is a bit too red in the meat part. But roasted pork belly tastes great.

Noodles Station Laksa, Wanton Mee, Noodles in Hot and Sour Soup, Fish Noodles Soup, Mee Siam. The wanton mee is tastes great with its great QQ texture of the noodle and tasty soup base. The laksa is not bad with its thick soup.

Dim Sum Station : Siew Mai, Har Gao, G Rice, Char Siew Pau, Carrot Cake. The har gao has quite chewy skin. Overall the dim sum tastes average.

Dessert Station : Assorted Cakes, Bread Pudding, Barley with Beancurd Skin, Local Kueh, Ice-Cream, Mini Fruit Tarts, Durian Pengat and assorted shot glass desserts. Must try its Durian Pengat which it filled with thick and creamy durian flesh. Skip the local kueh as they taste a bit too dry.

Claypot Station : Dried Waxed Sausage Rice, Beef Brisket, Assam Fish, Sambal Prawns, Watercess Soup. Of all the claypot dishes, the beef brisket is the best as it is very braised to soft, tender and flavourful. The sambal prawns is also great with its big juicy prawns. Too bad it is served with too hard Man Tou and too little sauce to dip with.

Pizza Station : Teryaki Chicken, Seafood, Cheese, Hawaiian. One can the cook making the pizza bases on the spot. The pizza crust is quite thin and crispy.Tastes not bad, but would be better with more sauce on the base.

At the last counter, there is assorted sushi, assorted cold cuts and salads. The sushi here tastes a bit dry, as it has been pre-made.

We end the meal with hot tea and coffee. The tea is a bit tasteless, more like hot water to me.

Overall at $33++ per person for dinner, I feel that it is quite a great deal especially the restaurant is located in Orchard Road and the place is not too crowded on a Sunday night. Best of all one does not have to wait at the food station for your food as it will be served to you.

The spread is not much but the quality of the food is there. I like the concept where you place an order with the station's cook, and they will serve the food to you. There is no need to queue. You can savour other dishes at your table while waiting for your next food to be served. This concept has another advantage. The serving station is less messy.

The first station serves roast meat, pork char siew, duck and chicken. I am not a fan of roast meat, but they are juicy and tender, nicely done. The second station serves noodles. They have mee siam, laksa, sichuan and wanton mee. I tried the mee siam and laksa. I prefer laksa as the concoction of coconut milk and spiciness is just right. Mee siam is not so nice to my taste bud. There is a big fresh prawn in the mee siam and laksa. Although they are local hawker dishes, they are cooked to perfection in Grand Park.

The third station serves dim sum. The standard har gao, siew mai, bao, lotus leaf rice are delicious and not too salty. The lotus leaf rice could be better though. It looses point when compared to that of Crystal Jade.

The fourth station serves pizza. These are freshly baked hand-made pizza. The crust is thin and the ingredients are fresh. We only have enough stomach for a Teriyaki Chicken pizza. It is very nice, unlike those in Pizza Hut. It looks more like those in Skinny Pizza. One such 10' pizza can easily cost $15++. Over here in Open House, you are spoilt with unlimited serving of 4 choices.

The fifth station serves claypot dishes. Claypot is a must have here. We ordered assam fish slices. It tates nice but not spicy enough. Perhaps they want to cater to those who cannot take spiciness. Too bad, we are so full that we have no room to try other claypot dishes.

The last is a salad bar where you take what you like. The centre is also opening serving type where all the cakes and fruits are. The cakes are of good quality type. I adore the chocoloate mousse cake, chocolate blueberry cake and mango cake. You can help yourself to ice cream too! I think kids will love this.

Service wise, they are prompt in clearing your plate and refill your glasses.

There is also complimentary car park for lunch buffet including Saturday. For the price of $25++, it is a good deal in one of the high-end hotels in Orchard.

I will return.

Even though the choices of food in this buffet restaurant may be quite selective, but the food quality here is still consider quite good. Personally I prefer their roasted duck meat, which the roasted duck skin is very fragrant and easy to chew. The duck meat inside is also very fragrant and is also very tender and juicy. The char siew meat here is also tender too.

For buffet, They have seafood fried rice, spicy clams, sambal stingray, fried breaded fish, chicken and tasty spicy crabs for the cooked section. Love the crabs the most, extremely delicious! The fried breaded fish was nice too.. it has this crispy taste. They have two types of soup. Some ginseng chicken and another, corn soup. I think both tasted equally nice. They only have two types of ice cream with fruits. Service was good.

My friends were kind of sick of those seafood at buffets so they ask me to suggest a buffet place with minimal seafood. After much thought, I suggested open house. I brought my girlfriend to open house at grand park orchard hotel for our anniversary. The spread at the buffet was pretty good for the price that we are paying. This is not the place to go if you are expecting a lot of seafood. They dun really have seafood except for the sashimi. Their sashimi is really fresh, it is sliced very thinly. the meat is very sweet and practically melts in your mouth.

the sushi was not too bad, they had the lobster salad ones. Their lobster salad sushi was really good, the lobster was coarsely chopped, you can taste how crunchy the lobster was. I like the dressing they mixed the sushi with. They had the seaweed sushi too, it tasted like the ones you get outside.

They have pizza too. the pizza is freshly baked upon your order. It did take some time for them to bake the pizza. But the pizza was good, it was thin crust, the toppings were delicious. I guess it was pretty much worth the wait.

They also had the claypot section, not many buffets actually had claypots. Their stew beef is really good, the beef is very tender, the gravy is very tasty. The claypot toufu is good too, they are very generous with the ingredients.

Their dessert is great, love the cakes. Their cakes are so rich in flavor especially those chocolate ones. There are various kinds of mini fruit tarts, their fruit tarts are all bite side so you can practically try out all the flavours. The crust of the fruit tart is very fragrant and buttery. The fruits are really fresh too, the tarts are not too sweet as well. The dessert is really delicious, it is indeed a must to safe some stomach space for it or else you will really regret.

For the buffet price, I guess the spread was reasonable, do give it a try.

It was pretty tasty, the meat was very tender and the gravy was not too salty. We were very disappointed with the pizza though, we ordered at the start of our meal and they served it just before we were going to start on our dessert and we ate the mains and appetizers for a pretty long time. This way how long they took to bake our pizza. As a whole, I would say it was so so and acceptable for the price we are paying.

I only had the ice cream and whatever brand of ice cream it was, their triple chocolate was not bad actually. This is not your international buffet and you will not get cold seafood or complicated eats here. I would say this is quite a nice place to eat at and return to.
