Delicious Home Delivery :) Smile Jul 19, 2013

Categories : Italian | Restaurant | Pasta

Waking up to a refreshing and Haze-less weather of Singapore, my family and I decided to stay indoors and get cozy, snuggling up in our beds. Big brother was in-charge of food, so we ordered in... PASTA MANIA!

For more information on how to order in, go here: http://www.pastamaniadelivery.sg/
Delivery Surcharge: $3.00

Here is what we ordered:
Bacon Aglio (Wholemeal Spaghetti)

Bacon Aglio (Wholemeal Spaghetti)

Turkey Bacon Aglio: $8.30
+ (Wholemeal Spaghetti: +$0.30)

A health-conscious individual would think twice before loading on their carbs, but thankfully Pasta mania offers wholemeal spaghetti as its' base now. While it was a bit cold to taste by the time it reached my house, the spaghetti remained wholesome and wasn't too salty nor bland, and it felt that the turkey bacon was lending its' support by oozing out oil from its' fats, spurting into the pasta itself. I would order this against Creamy Chicken, because I could finish it up to the very end. It wasn't fantastic, but it was edible!
Basil Chicken Aglio

Basil Chicken Aglio

Basil Chicken Aglio: $7.90
+ (Wholemeal Spaghetti: +$0.30)

We shared this and I felt the amount was lesser than the Turkey Bacon Aglio's, which makes me wonder if they actually do weigh their pasta properly. There weren't enough Basil chicken to go around, I felt like I was eating plain spaghetti instead, and the scent of the pasta was quite tranquil and faint. This could improve by tweaking a little, I couldn't tell it was Basil Chicken at all.
7" Hawaiian

7" Hawaiian

7" Hawaiian (Regular): $9.70
Personally, I believe Pasta Mania's Pizza is quite well-done because of its' crust! It tasted almost like what I would taste in Europe, with little fillings on top but yet unbelievably delicious. The 7" is quite small for an almost $10 pizza, I wish they could make it bigger because no one can get full by eating a whole pizza. No one, ever.

We spent a total of $29.50 for delivery, and I can hardly say anything about the service because there was minimal contact. Hopefully, the delivery-person could smile more when he greets us smile But that may be too much to ask for, isn't it?

Sarang.. Hey yoh. OK Jul 18, 2013

Categories : Korean | Restaurant | Kids-Friendly

Greeted by three female waitresses (not by any korean greeting), we didn't really know if this was a Korean Bistro because it has largely taken on an American appeal. Before stepping into the restaurant, the supervisor asked if we were going to stay for long because they have reservations at 7.30pm. We were there only at 5.20pm, so I felt quite offended that, in a way, they were chasing us away even before we came. On the other hand, it means that they are very thoughtful to those who have made reservations, and apparently she said that they reserved it because of the Groupon vouchers that they had, where you spend $20 for $40 worth of food. bowl

We didn't had any vouchers, but they gave us a limited time to eat. huffy sad

Side dishes- Beans, Kimchi & Juipo (the korean fish, Jerky)
As all Korean restaurants would do it, there is complimentary starter which is refillable upon request. They don't tell you that, so please ask!

Close-up of Kimchi
I really love the Kimchi, it was extremely spicy and sour and flavourful. The cabbage was a really long piece and the sauce oozed out as I bit onto them in my mouth. It was absolutely delicious and satisfying as a meal starter! smile

Close-up of Juipo
The beans (in the background) was something that I didn't quite used to, and didn't know quite how to eat it. It's hard, tasteless, and really oily. The Juipo tasted similar to the kimchi, perhaps because of the seasoning? I'd give it second in place out of all the three starters! First, of course, to the kimchi. smile

H/H Pinnacle- Promotional Price $5
They were having an offer for only $5 for every alcoholic beverage. The wineglasses, apparently, was not chilled. The wine is! Therefore the wine cooled very quickly and became room temperature which was quite terrible to drink. sad

Scallion Pancake - $8.50
The scallion pancake is delicious! We wanted to try the Spoon Pizza but it was out-of-stock *SIGHS*. But anyway, this serves as a good appetiser as well... with about two prawns for the whole pancake, this thin leafy biscuit is drizzled with mayo and BBQ sauce, with slabs of ham layered across. The whole crust is just a delicious piece of heaven for your mouth to await, its' really that good.

Ginseng Chicken Soup - $29
This huge pot of ginseng chicken soup was accompanied with salt separately. When I first tasted it without adding the salt, it tasted so horrifying bland that I thought of walking out of the restaurant. The ginseng is stuffed into the innermost part of the chicken, so the soup doesn't have any taste of ginseng. Try and ease the chicken by taking out the ginseng and mixing it with the soup, then adding in the salt. But of course, if you're health-conscious then don't add the salt. They don't have rice accompanied with it, but apparently they did stuff a 1/4 bowl of rice into the chicken... so do add your own rice! Each bowl of rice costs $2. shocked

A whole piece of ginseng, I guess that's why it is $29 eh? smile

The restaurant was absolutely empty but we were forced to sit in one corner. Apparently, the reason was that the whole restaurant is reserved. There are seats outside too. I felt really sad that they didn't treat us as customers, but prioritised those who have bought vouchers instead when those customers haven't even reached. sad

Still... Their food deserves a try. smile Enjoy a little bit of the Korean culture here, OpenRicers!

Total: $44.50 (Excl. 10% GST & 7% service charge) *gasps*

Categories : Japanese | Restaurant

Hill Top Restaurant is not an easily accessible place unless you have an automobile. It's really a great getaway from the city, in the city. lol I love the notion of stepping in and feeling like you're not really in Singapore, (but not really in Japan either), it's just such a great getaway and strangely it sort of brings me back to Taiwan where there's such tranquility and peace! smile

Please DO NOT take these stairs when you see it. There is another way to get around it, just keep walking straight until you see a sort-of-look-like-a-multistorey-carpark and go all the way up! Anyway, there is really a beautiful view overlooking the shores of Singapore, so you can take your loved one there if you're a hopeless romantic.

The Japanese restaurant is located right beside the erm, Indonesian food restaurant. You can get the menus from both restaurant and sit anywhere you like, it's rather spacious and comfortable.

They try to mimic the Japanese-style but the atmosphere didn't quite put it well because of the Indonesian fusion in it. We didn't really have a friendly service crew helping us out, as we were quite blur initially on where to sit and which restaurant belonged to who, and they didn't explain to us but just handed us four types of menus which was really quite confusing. sad

Satay (6 pcs; Min order: 5 pcs) = $6
chopstick The first time I put this in my mouth, I really felt I was eating some stone. It was quite difficult to chew, but I really had no idea why the more I chew, the more I love it. It became much more chewable after awhile.

The sauce is the highlight of the satay, but they gave a rather small amount, slightly less than half. It should be sweet peanut sauce, and I love the outcome of my chunky meat soaked in the delicious sauce! smile

Teriyaki Chicken Ramen - $8
Twirling my noodles and fishing for delicious chicken chunks in the ramen is really fun. The ramen was nothing fantastic, I'd rate it quite averagely. I really enjoyed slurping down the soup, it was salty and it was sweet, making the bowl totally flavourful!

Tempura Udon - SGD$8
I fell in love with this! Initially thought it'd be just a preserved already-made Udon, but the texture tasted nothing like those that you can buy from supermarket. It comes with a standard, the udon. I was really disappointed that the tempura prawn.. was only ONE in quantity. The rest had fried capsicum (which was rather battered with the flour and all), green pepper, carrot and other vegetables. I wish they could give at least two prawns, but I guess it's because it's just $8? lol

Here's a close-up of the prawns as side-dishes, and I'm glad they didn't soak these deep-fried luxury into the soup as that would take away all their crispiness. It was really a crunch in my mouth! smile

Garlic Rice - $4.20
This is probably the highlight of the meal, the garlic rice was extremely a special and unique dish coming from the Japanese cuisine industry. Be sure to flush down all your garlic 'stench' with fluids! This dish could be used as a side dish instead (as you order your main meal) and be shared among your dining partners. smile

We were a group of three, and spent $32.80 in total. I must emphasize that I really feel it's rather affordable for a place and food like this.

Harmony (Wa) People (Tami) Smile Jun 28, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Sushi/Sashimi

We had a group of 5 People and the bill totaled $64.40. It was a pleasant experience for us because we came slightly before lunch time and held our meetings. There was a queue outside but the waiters didn't explicitly made us leave but hinted to us by asking if we wanted any desserts or anything else from the menu. I love their wise service! smile

Ishiyaki Beef Pepper Rice - $4.90.
This is actually a special pricing for students during lunch hours, and it's much more delicious than Pepper lunch. Besides, it's even half-the price! The beef was chewy and not all too fatty, and there were an abundance of corn as you can see. tongue I really love this, and I think I can eat this for a month, really. The rice was definitely japanese high-grade rice and they didn't compromise on that.

Iced Milk Tea (Left) - $2.80.
I finished my iced milk tea even before I was halfway through my beef rice. It's a tad too delicious, not very sweet but in right proportion. I love how they are health conscious and excluded pearls, because a real iced milk tea does not depend on pearls to make it delicious!

Yuzu Soda - $2.80.
My friend ordered this and I had a sip. It was like drinking sugar water with gassy bubbles. It totally fits my taste buds as if my tongue was just born for this juice, I'd definitely order this against the milk tea in future! smile Extremely refreshing and unique-tasting.

Chicken Katsu Toji - $6.90
As usual, chicken katsu toji is an extremely large portion and even my friend couldn't finish it. We shared the chicken and the delicious milky/scrambled egg, and I love how it perfectly blends well together.. chicken and egg, you see. This is great for people who don't want to venture away too far from the local food! If you're a huge fan of crispy chicken, or KFC, you would definitely LOVE THIS! lol

Watami Onigiri - $15.80 (inclusive of ramen)
I'd go bonkers for this. I'm sorry that I didn't have a shot of the ramen, because one of my dear friends gobbled it up real fast and all I could take was the onigiri. It was really delicious, but the over-excessive carbohydrates caused her to be quite full. I would suggest that Watami decreases their portion and their prices as well, its' like we are paying for food in excess that we can't even finish. Anyway, this is rather pricey but if you're in for a great meal in Watami, you should just go ahead and part with the dollars! smile It's authentic, that's for sure.

Watami is a dining outlet that provides a great environment, great food along with your great chosen-company of friends lol

Graced by a welcoming atmosphere, Marriott Café is a lovely restaurant that offers a buffet spread at different hours of the day. My companion and I went for the hi-tea buffet, and it costs $43.55 (incl. 10% service charge & 7% GST) per person. The type of food varies daily, but we were very glad that they offered a wide variety of choices for us to select from. On the day itself, a majority of the display were mainly asian cuisine. If you're a true gastronome and wants to take a short-cut in having the best out of Singapore without having to go food hunting, Marriott Café is indeed the place to go! smilesmile

A beautiful and spacious ambience, I felt what was missing was classic music and the smell of Marriott to give them its' identity.
Bak Kut Teh

Bak Kut Teh

For starter, Bak Kut Teh (English: Meat Bone Tea) is an excellent choice to increase your appetite. I believe the restaurant has boiled it for rather long, because there is a strong pork rib aroma in the soup. I couldn't help but notice that there are more bones than meat in the soup though, I believe the meat must have probably melted away and sank into the bottom of the pot.

My heart went all out to these three giant bowls of white prawns, because hardly anyone was eating them. Perhaps it would have been much more wise to have them all peeled, or have a service crew who helps to peel prawns.. lol
Salmon

Salmon

The best part of the buffet was the smoked salmon and the Norwegian salmon!
Salmon with corn

Salmon with corn

This is the tastiest FISH I EVER EATEN, it is extremely addictive and I was torn in between gobbling down the whole piece or savouring it to the last. Thank God I didn't have to fret because it was a free-flow buffet! *dances and twirls around* smile There's also a wide variety of garnish available, you can select as many lemons as you want.
Otak and Popiah

Otak and Popiah

The succulent and spicy Otah Otak had the smell of grilled fish in it, and it perfectly suits the tastebuds of a typical Singaporean! Most of us do have a preference for spiciness in our food, thus the Otah Otak is a popular favourite among the guests who were were eating there at that time.

Also, the Popiah (English: Spring Roll) that is prepared fresh on the spot is extremely crispy. At face value, it's one of a traditional cuisine derived from Fujian, China. I believe tourists from other continents would fall in love with this sweet-tasting, crunchy snack!
Prawn Noodles

Prawn Noodles

Prawn noodles have been one of my favourite childhood meals that I would eat for lunch. I couldn't help but slurp down the long strands of yellow noodles, and the soup was so thick in prawn flavour it made me squeal a little. My companion dislike the smell of the prawns, so this is a love-it-or-hate-it dish.
Dim Sum

Dim Sum

Dim sum such as steamed pork buns and Siew Mai is also served in the buffet. I guess as part of the buffet experience, you really must try dim sum though its' flour would make you full quite easily.
Desserts

Desserts

The dessert was the most exciting part of the experience because there is quite a large variety of sweet treats dedicated to chocolate. There is also a station for ice-cream and you can select different nuts, biscuits or chocolate/rainbow rice to go along with it.
Vanilla ice-cream

Vanilla ice-cream

Here's my self-serve ice-cream containing nuts and rainbow rice, and some toppings which I don't even know? I'd appreciate if they actually label the jars. sad
Desserts

Desserts

Lots of Kueh in Singapore... I wish they'd label each one of them so people would know what they actually contain. I love the way they lay them out though, and I really appreciate their effort in placing the kuehs in neat rows. I was quite disappointed that there were nothing on durians, since durians is really a local dish and you must eat it when you come to Singapore. Perhaps they wouldn't want to scare the customers off with the smell, but still, it could have been like a durian crepe station or something!
Receipt

Receipt

With that. do note that the drinks are only limited to Coffee, Tea and water. You have to ask the waiter to serve you, and the coffee is Bon Café, thus making it relatively thick!
