The Orchard area is not just a shopping hub, it’s also the go-to destination for some good ‘ol comfort food and desserts. But since this whole stretch is littered with malls, designer shops, and eateries, we can easily get lost in all its glitz and glamour and forget the whole purpose of trying the worthy restaurants there. It’s always handy if you already have a list of the eateries you want to try. OpenRice has gathered some of our favourite places on this side the woods to help you plan your next food trip! Must-try: Beef Goulash | Find it at: #B3-18, ION Orchard The Soup Spoon has always been a source of comfort, with warm bowls of soupy goodness and chunks of meat waiting to be devoured. With a large variety of items featuring different flavours and ingredients, you'll never get bored. Moreover, they also have set meals, comprising of a soup, wrap/sandwich and a drink/muffin- perfect for a satisfying meal. 2. Marmalade Pantry

Must-try: Crab Meat Linguini | Find it at: #03-22/34, ION Orchard Get a whiff of this pasta dish and you can easily tell that Marmalade Pantry didn’t scrimp on ingredients like the crab meat. Together with tomatoes, these are then topped on the pasta. For that added texture, pine nuts are also mixed with the dish. You can’t go wrong with the whole combo. 3. Twelve Cupcakes

Must-try: Red Velvet cupcake | Find it at: #B4-33, ION Orchard You can count on Twelve Cupcakes to deliver sinfully good cupcakes. They have more than a dozen offerings (including the monthly specials) which just make every sweet tooth drool. A highlight from their menu is the Red Velvet Cupcake which has a moist chocolatey base; then it’s topped with a light and tangy cream. A small red heart finishes off the whole look. 4. Must-try: Super Stacked Chocolate Cake | Find it at: #B4-50, ION Orchard It’s akin to dying and waking up in chocolate heaven. Strong sentiments maybe, but definitely comes highly recommended for your daily dose of chocolate. Chocoholics should definitely try the Super Stacked Chocolate Cake – the Kueh Lapis of chocolate cakes with delicious fudge layers of chocolates topped off with a glistening dark chocolate glaze. Must-try: Beef Lasagne | Find it at: #B1-37 Ngee Ann City The Beanstro - The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf’s very own café – serves up a whole lot of choices with their full menu. Not to be missed is their Beef Lasagne which consists of 3 layers of nothing short of ground beef and melted cheese. Yeah, it’s gonna be a mighty meat overload because their portions are HUGE! 2. Must-try: Miso Butter Corn Ramen | Find it at:#B2 Takashimaya Food Hall, Ngee Ann City Baikkohken offers value-for-money meals that will fill you up without bursting your purse strings. Their signature, the Miso Butter Corn Ramen, comes piled with vegetables, meat and corn ontop a bowl filled to the brim with ramen and flavourful broth. Must-try: Hokkien Mee | Find it at:#04-02 Food Republic Despite the cluster of stalls at Wisma’s Food Republic, this still stands out amongst others with its specialty - Hokkien Mee. Every day, you would always see this serious-looking dude with a tattered hat mixing it in a big wok and dumping other ingredients like nobody’s business. But somehow his cooking always comes out consistently good – noodles are al dente and there’s just enough broth to slurp. 2. Coffee Stars by Dao

Must-try: Vanilla Crepe Cake | Find it at: #01-01/02/37/41 Wisma Atria Coffee Stars by Dao is always crowded. Be it lunch hour or not, people flock to this small cafe for their mains- their tom yam is drool-worthy- but what is really outstanding here are the cakes. The Baby Champ Cheesecake is their bestseller and always sold out by about 3pm, showing the popularity of the place. If you do happen to be there, try their Vanilla Crepe Cake, a kueh lapis-eque layered cake that comes with a berry reduction to pour over; sweet heaven in a mouthful. 3. Koh Grill Sushi & Bar

Must-try: Shiok Maki | Find it at: #04-21 Wisma Atria A dish richly deserving of the 2 exclamation marks in its name, Shiok!! Maki Gen I isn’t a new Japanese cyborg from Konami but an assorted seafood maki featuring avocado, unagi and salmon capped with seared cheese and fish roe. Must-try: Shoestring Truffle Fries | Find it at:#03-41/44 Paragon Yeah there are so many items you can order at PS Café, from desserts to main courses, but you can’t visit the café without trying their Shoestring Truffle Fries. It may seem pricey for one order is more than $20, but it can fill 4 tummies. The fries are deep fried to golden brown perfection in truffle oil and are flavoured with grated parmesan and parsley. It’s a good starter to any of the main courses at PS Café. 2. Big O Cafe

Must-try: Spike D | Find it at: #B1-08 Paragon It seems great flavours don't always look the part and the Spike D creation from Big O Cafe certainly has more than meets the eye. A simple matte chocolate finish hides a soft sponge cake tinged delightfully with the aroma of durian mousse. Recommended for durian and chocolate lovers alike! 3. Chalk Farm

Must-try: Chocolate Guinness Loaf | Find it at: #B2-K24 Paragon The new cake company in town, Chalk Farm in Paragon offers a tantalizing array of cakes and cupcakes enough to tempt any cake lover. Just picture gorgeous red velvet cupcakes, luxurious gold plated brownies. And for the beer fanatics, try the Chocolate Guinness Loaf - dark chocolate cake with an undertone of Guinness smoothed out with buttery cream cheese frosting.
