Tried the Roast chicken with roast pork at $4 with their dumpling soup at $4. The roast chicken did not have the roasted fragrance but was tender enough for chicken breast. The roast pork, as usual, was leaner than the fatty roast pork but was a tad dry. Their dumpling soup had a layer of oil on the surface and the soup tasted like it was flavoured with artificial flavourings (msg). Overall, this was a really filling meal!

Was on the way to bras basah from bugis on foot and I passed by this eatery so I decided to settle here for a quick lunch. The auntie server gave me the food choices verbally (duck + pork or chicken + pork etc) because the only menu was on the signboard outside. I tried their roasted duck and roasted pork for $4 which is a reasonable price. The roasted pork belly was thankfully not fatty and skin was rather crispy although a little charred. Alex’s Eating House was introduced by a colleague of mine claiming it offers one of best roasted meat in Singapore. When we reached at 12.40pm, it was packed with hungry diners. We finally got a table after waiting for about 10 minutes. I ordered a Char Siew Roasted Pork combination. I was amazed by the amount of large pieces of meat at only $4. The Char Siew is well-marinated, sweet and slightly charred. The roasted pork is crispy and the meat is savory.

At $4. This seemed a little steep.

This was a takeout for dinner.
Mum grabbed me some roasted pork and roasted triple layered pork for dinner.
That was a LOT of meat and not enough rice!
Or so it felt.
For $4 this was pretty value for money if you were the carnivorous type.
The charsiew was thick cuts and well marinated.
Not overly sweet, you could taste the distinct taste of barbecued meat.
The roasted pork was not all that fatty but it could do with a crisp top layer.

Now I've yet to try their roast duck.
I've seen those silvers of roasted duck skin.
Pure indulgence.

Alex’s Eating Place is located at Beach Road, opposite Shaw Towers. The eatery was packed during lunch time. Full house, every single table was occupied and there were other people waiting. It can be hard to grab the attention of any of them to take your order or to even ask for the bill.

Ordered Roasted Duck and Char Siew Rice. It cost either $3.50 or $4.00. The Char Siew was not bad, however it was a bit too dry and as can be seen, each piece was way too thick. The Roasted Duck had the same problem, each piece was ‘huge’. Moreover, there was little meat with lots of fat. Rice was hard. At the side of the plate there is cabbage which was so so. Really nothing fantastic. Well it was value for money. Oh, my friend ordered lotus soup, it cost just $1.50! cheap!

The Char Siew Dumpling Noodle was much better. The noodle was well cooked, springy and has absorbed all the sauce. This time, the Char Siew was much better but could have been softer. The dumpling was good. Its skin was soft and thin. The filling inside though small was delicious.

MSG ladened soup.

Will not be back anytime soon as the food is average. If I do come back, I will go for the Roasted Pork (sio bak).

After finished my project, my friends and I decided to go to Bugis to try this restaurant famed with its char siew and it is quite good here although by around 2 pm, it was a little dry. However, the sauce is very good and definitely one of the better around. The sio bak was ok only, as the skin is not crispy enough, even though the meat's flavour was still flavourful.

Today my girlfriend rang me up for lunch and that was the meeting place and since our appointment time was at 2pm, i though the place won't be crowded.
Since it is her favourite place, she recommended me the orders of roasted duck, char siew and braised chicken and bitter gourd soup.
While waiting for the food to arrive shortly, we could see birds flying in and out of the coffee shop.It sort of irks me whether it's healthy to consume my food with birds flying around.
But, the food certainly compensated for my uneasyness as the roasted ducks were tasty and has a after taste like what you would get in a good Hong Kong Roasted Duck as well as the Char Siew.Thumbs up too for the braised soya chicken which were so smooth, tender and juicy.Bitter gourd soup was equally tasty and they brew it with mushroom as you can eat the piece of whole mushroom and the soup was surprisingly good value at only $1.50.
I will certainly come back to buy take aways for their meats and soup.

Roasted Duck, Roasted Pork and Char Siew Pork, 3 of Singapore’s favourite meat dishes and definitely one of my meat selection dishes here in Singapore. Located in the heart of Beach Road, opposite Shaw Tower, I first tasted this wonderful place 5 years ago in 2005 and although the Roast Pork looked “fatty”, once you tasted it in your mouth, it’s really delicious and it’s not that oily after all ! The Roast Duck is very nice and tasty, the duck skin is roasted crispy and crunchy, the roast duck meat is cooked just nice and not overcooked. As for their Char Siew Pork, it’s sweet, tender and cooked just nice too!

Take a look at their wonder Roasted Duck and Roasted Pork meat portions ! They also have cabbage salad beside the meat portions too and it’s part of their trademark ! Their portion is pretty big and it’s really value for money !

During lunch time, it can get really crowded on the weekdays due to the offices along Beach Road and Bugis area. It's really popular and well liked by many. Besides the Roasted Duck, Roasted Pork and Char Siew Pork with rice, do try it with their noodles too with the same combination, their noodles are really good too !

Once you tasted the Roasted Duck, Roasted Pork and Char Siew Meat in your mouth, you would be amazed by its taste and fragrance.

Why not go for the holy trinity combination of Roasted Duck, Roasted Pork and Char Siew Meat with Roasted Duck sauce on your rice? You will not regret !

Do drop by Alex's Eating House and enjoy a hearty and tasty meal of Roasted Duck, Roasted Pork and Char Siew Meat !
