Breeks Cafe (Closed)

We were heading for Batam, so didn't know what to eat before boarding ferry, walked pass Breeks and saw that there wasn't a queue so give it a try. The place was neat and clean. We ordered Grilled Dory with Spaghetti.Grilled Dory fish is too salty for my liking. Pasta is overcooked and the topping mushroom sauces is also not so fantastic. Portion of vegetables was also little. Regret.

Breeks serves average western food along with well-known chains like New York New York. I wanted to have some dessert so I stopped by Breeks and had their brownie with vanilla ice cream. Brownie was cakey and not very warm when served, and the serving was a little small. The vanilla ice cream tastes like your average ice cream, and the chocolate sauce drizzled over it was overly sweet when eaten together with the ice cream and brownie

Went to lunch over at breeks with my parents after shopping. The restaurant offers a western kind of menu. They have many items on their menu, from chicken, to fish, to spaghetti. I like their ice passion fruit drink, it taste really good and refreshing! It is not too sweet which i find it really great. The restaurant can get full when it is near to meal time. DO be there early to avoid the queue.

The large slice of ham served during their breakfast hours is quite tough and abit tasteless. Moreover, it almost like taking them years to prepare and serve the food. Although I have only ordered a simple ham and egg set, it almost took them more than twenty minutes to serve you the foods. Worst part is the long wait does not justify at all after had a 'just alright' breakfast. May not be considering coming here for my next breakfast gathering with my family.

The Char-grilled ribeye with cajun blackened fish is a dish comes with mash potato, fish and the meat topped with barbeque sauce. I ordered corn as the side which comes with butter. The mash potato is one of the nicest I have ever tasted. The fish is cooked to perfection. However, the meat was not very tender. You have to keep chewing in order to soften the meat. It is also quite expensive.

have decided to give Breeks a second chance when I had a group gathering with my friends at Breeks. Avoiding fish, I have decided to go for grilled chicken on hotplate this time. At least the food was served hot as it was on a hotplate and the chicken was juicy and big. The serving potion was also rather big, with potato wedges.

One thing I must highlight to everyone if you need to have a quick breakfast to rush for an appointment, this restaurant located at Harbourfront is definitely out of your choice. Even when there were no crowd in their restaurant, my food was actually served to me for almost half an hour! By the time they served the food on my table, I already lose my appetite. Even they took so long to prepare the food, the end product did not taste fantastic. My verdict: 5.5/10

The cajun fish is the item I would usually order if no time to look at menu. It is a safe choice, as the fish is cooked till tender and yet thoroughly cooked, without any horrifying hard-to-chew raw bits. There is no need to use the knife actually. One can just scoop it up with the spoon. The other main course I like is Pasta with Chicken Strips in Spicy Tomato Sauce. For side dish, I would recommend the Waffle Fries with Cheese Melts and Sour Cream Topping.
