Location of the cafe is perfectly situated outside the bras basah mrt station therefore the convenience is not compromised.

This is called Basic Works - $7, though I don't really know why, but the scrambled egg is delicious! The bacon strips were awesome and crispy, and I love the layout of the restaurant.. the decorations made me feel at peace. For a price of $7, that's really affordable.

I had sudden cravings for mussels and was lucky that Food for Thought happened to be serving mussels as their special. The pasta itself was normal. What I really liked was the fresh mussels which lacked a distinct musty foul-smelling taste that not fresh mussels often carry. The sauce itself was excellent. My only complaint was that for its price, the mussels could have been more.

Pumpkin Cream Soup
Natural sweetness and thick in taste. Not too much cream added and a slight grainy texture gives a kind of rustic feel to this simple dish

Cheese Toast (basil pesto) with tomato thyme salad.
Besides basil pesto, one can choose chilli butter, garlic thyme. Foccacia bread is toasted but not too dry. Amount of cheese just right and the portion is fills one up easily.

Hoi Sin Marinated Baby Back Ribs With potato cheese gratin
Look at that long slab of meat, flavoursome but not too salty. Meat is tender with bits of fats. Good for sharing even btw 3 person. Salad is same as the cheese toast but lacks dressing.

Garlic and Prawn Linguine
Simple flavors and aroma but no negative criticisms about this dish. pasta manages to retain some moisture.

Butterscotch apple crumble with vanilla ice cream and sautéed cherries and berries (good for 2) Ice cream came like a big snowball. Crumble is average and is more cakey lumpy rather than buttery or crunchy. Prefer apple slices to apple chunks and a pity only to have tasted the butterscotch sauce at the very end as it was buried at the base.

warm cheese and brownie fudge with ice cream on bits of crumbles.
This was a pleasant surprise and something that was presented different from what I thought.
What is good about this......
Similar to a warm cheese pudding with chocolate oozing out from the base. Not too creamy or overly sweet. Both desserts have tangy berries to balance the sweetness. Chocolate lovers should not miss this.

In short, the waiting time was not too long. Quantity and quality is pretty worth for the price. Furthermore, without service charge, what could be better than a nice weekend evening here to chill out with a couple of good friends?

Food for Thought is quite a nice and comfortable cafe that serves affordable western food and at the same time good quality food. The dessert is not bad, I had these to share with my friend after we have our dinner and some window shopping. The Red velvet cake is very special so I order to try it. And this is my first time having velvet cake but it's great! And the ice cream is creamy and chilling!

This grilled fish is nice.
It grilled at a very suitable temperature,so the fish is very tasty.
It got some smoked taste and the fish is still very soft.
Not very dry too.
And the little sauce on it also very nice.
The fried rice is also nice, not oily but flavourful.

I like the small portion of mushroom at the side.It is really very tasty.
I'm sure that i will go to try on other food again..!

This is my first time visiting food for thought. I wanted to visit this cafe for a long time as i've heard that the reviews were good.I ordered FULL WORK. Peanut butter & Jelly Pudding

Overall, we felt that the dining was fine. I would recommend the Butterscotch Apple & Mixed Berries Crumble. That is the only thing that make the dining pleasing. The staffs were well mannered and i believe they could do better

My sister treated myself and mum to food for thought for an incredible lunch. I ordered the bacon and broccoli risotto. It was fabulous! I was never a fan of risotto due to a bad experience so I was very skeptical when my sister recommended me the bacon and broccoli risotto. The risotto was light and was excellently blended with the bacon and broccoli. I really enjoyed my meal at the restaurant.

Second visit to Food For Thought and realised I really like this place Really love their ambience. Just gives me a very homely feel and the warmth shown by the staff really brightens up my day! Ordered their Chunky Sausage and tomato linguine and was really satisfied with it, while my friend ordered something else. The serving was quite big so it was rather filling for 1 person. Advisable to share with a friend

located just 10-15 mins walk away opp the national library, we were able to find seats straight away. although just a small cafe, with an open kitchen area, it had a cozy feel to it. ordered several dishes to try.

pulled pork sandwich
the pork was very soft and nice, covered in delicious sauces. the bread was abit hard, but still quite good due to the spices they put on it.

beef sandwich
equally good as the pulled pork. generous in meat. soft and juicy. same bread as the pulled pork sandwich.

roasted tomato pasta
lots of sauce, quite good

all the dishes cost approx $10, quite reasonable for cafe food.
and water is self service and free to take.

I have visited the place with my best friends but have not gone with my hubby. The Place is simple, very cosy place and provide good food. The only thing is it a little small and can get crowded at times, best to get a reservation before arriving. This outlet doesn't open on Sundays. Pizza over there is very good, it is a food that must order to try. Prices are not too expensive, service is good.

The staff were friendly and helpful when we ordered, and in serving the food as well
They were welcoming and made me feel like I was at home once I stepped in.

The food was kinda simple for its reputation though. But I like simple food, so that's good
My corn, lemongrass and chili butter (not the exact name, forgot it!) salad was simple and good; the veggies were fresh and appetizing, and although you can't see the chili butter, u can certainly taste it. It's kick was refreshing against the freshness of the veggies.

I had the Pesto Chicken sandwich, and I have to say, their bread is really AWESOME
Buttery and crusty, yet fluffy after the crust. Fluffy but not light, it had substance in its fluffiness. Just nice. The pesto was fragrant, though the chicken could be softer. My friend had the Pulled Pork with BBQ Sauce sandwich and it was awesome. The pork was just so finely pulled and thus very soft and succulent, and it was flavourful and strong with the BBQ sauce. I was kinda envious, although my pesto was really good too.

Another friend had the Mushroom Pasta, and that was really, really good. The mushrooms were probably pan-fried, and tasted so very good. The pasta went really well with the strong mushroom flavour. Shiok.

We had the mango cheesecake after that. More mango and less cheese, but that meant that it was light enough to not make you feel jelat after a really filling meal.

The set combo of $10.90/11.90 (depending on the sandwiches/salads/soups etc) you choose really allows you to try more stuff without getting too stuffed. I had that and it was just nice

Time to go back for more cakes next time!

This time, I ordered the Spicy Nyonya Cooked Pork sandwich (around $15, and the name is not exact). As usual, there's free cold water, self-service on the end of the table-top counter. My friends and I were chatting much, and it didn't take too long for my lunch to be served, like 10 minutes? Usually I expect more and sometimes it does happen here, take note guys, to always be understanding though, as this is not a FAST FOOD JOINT, BUT GIVING THE SLOW FOOD EXPERIENCE. So if you don't know what slow food is, check it up in Google!
Singapore has always expected food to be ping, ping, ping!

First time trying the meal, I wanted something spicy. So the sandwich came, in bigger portion than expected. YES! Was hungry anways

When I tried, I was like "hey i know this kind of cooking!" Back home my mom cooks this, it takes hours of preparation and time to slow cook it under steam, and I know it as 'babihong' with those ginger and sweet juices and stuff. Sadly, it wasn't spicy at all, like the name says.

Was pretty interesting to eat this as a sandwich, and the salad, again was fresh with green leafy goods and cubed tomatos. A fresh combination to the heavy pork and bread.
As long as I know they cook it with their heart, should be no problem!

Indeed filling!
