This Fried Carrot Cake stall in Clementi Hawker Centre always had a super long queue in the morning. Today the queue looked was shorter and I joined in the queue. The wait in the queue to order was about 20 minutes. I ordered the Black Carrot Cake at $3. The serving was big at this pricing. The Fried Black Carrot Cake had a very heavy aroma of "Wok Hei". However, the taste was otherwise. The carrot cake tasted average, it seem to taste drier than others, maybe there was too much egg. I also felt that there was not enough black sweet soya sauce. Overall, I still prefer the moist Black Carrot Cake from the Clementi Mall's foodcourt which was in the vicinity. continue reading

Beat the morning rush, I have to finish up this hot steamy plate of "Chai Taou Kway" (fried carrot cake) within 10 minutes. Fried Carrot Cake , S$2.50 (Small) / S$3.50 (big) can be done either black or white version. The dine in version will be way better than the packet version as one get to taste it directly hot from the wok! In between, we get to taste the crunch from the little "Chai Po" added in it. Their die-hard fans are still diligently queuing up for the plate of yammy Fried Carrot Cake despite of the morning rush. The long queues are of no deterrence to their faithful fans.Despite having a sore-throat and losing her voice, the lady who was taking orders still report to work. Orders were written down and conversed to the cook as per normal. Operations were not affected. No doubt the queues are long, the service is efficient and the plate of char kway is definitely worth waiting for! continue reading
