Kim's hokkien mee at Food Junction is one of the many outlets made famous by its owner who used to fried hokkien mee wearing long sleeve shirt and Rolex. He, of cause is not the chef here...this stall is manned by a group of 3 foreign talents from China. I ordered a medium packet of hokkien mee $6.80 for sharing with hubby. The dish is moist but not too watery, has fresh pieces of whole prawns and slices of sotong. The chili is good...overall an alright dish.

There is always a crowd at Kim's Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee stall during lunch and dinner time, every day.The Hokkien Prawn Mee is slightly different with other stalls because they offer seafood as well.I ordered a large plate of seafood prawn hokkien mee for $9 the other day. The whole dish was very fragrant! The gravy was mixed with chilly (since I wanted it to be spicy)The seafood were very fresh, perfect combination with the starchy yet watery gravy. The noodles were served with plenty of eggs! The whole dish was very fragrant!
The gravy was mixed with chilly (since I wanted it to be spicy)
The seafood were very fresh, perfect combination with the starchy yet watery gravy.
The noodles were served with plenty of eggs! Thus the whole dish was extremely delicious!!

This is one of the few outlets of Kim's Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee. There was a queue of few people when i was there. I ordered a basic plate of fried hokkien mee that came with a few prawns and sotong. The texture was moist and not overly wet. The ingredients tasted noticeably fresh. It served with a generous amount of nicely fried pork lards and the purpose of these sinful fried pork lards is none other than to enhance the taste. It is best eaten with their special chilli.

This stall is popular for its variety of cuisine - from Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee to Sambal Fried Rice. We tried the Fried Kway Teow - minus pork and cockles. The dish was okay - the Fried Kway Teow was piping hot and with just the right amount of sweet soya sauce. The chilli was also just right, but the dish was a little too oily. The service was fast, but you have to be sure the order taker is clear about what you want or don't want. The service was fast, but you have to be sure the order taker is clear about what you want or don't want. We had specifically mentioned TWO plates - without char siew and cockles, but only ONE plate was correct. This stall is in The Food Junction at Nex.
Overall, the Food Court is an average place to have dinner - one corner of this food court
has leaking air con pipes that have yet to be repaired ( for more than three months).
The environment is clean, but not spotless. It could be better.
Next time, I will try the other dishes.

This is a memorable dinning experience for me because my Grandpa brought me to try Kim's Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee for the first time when they used to be at Ang Mo Kio a very long time ago. This is a memorable dinning experience for me because my Grandpa brought me to try Kim's Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee for the first time when they used to be at Ang Mo Kio a very long time ago. I vividly remember a middle-aged Uncle in a long-sleeves shirt wearing a Rolex watch frying hokkien prawn mee. I remember him as a friendly Uncle with a broad smile.

When i was at Nex for a movie preview, i wanted a quick dinner at this food court before proceed to the theatre. I spotted this stall though i did not see that familiar Rolex Uncle there frying Hokkien Prawn Mee but i still decided to try it. Though he was not there in person but i saw his pictures on display.

I ordered the smallest serving for $4.50. I paid and stood there to wait for 5 minutes before gotten my plate of Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee. The ingredients like the prawns and squids tasted reasonably fresh. The sambal chilli tasted a little disappointing though, the spiciness was pretty mild, the bright red color of the chilli seemed hot but it tasted not quite, at least it is so to me.

When mixed it well, it was rather moist in texture and not soggy, it tasted pretty well with the prawn stock infused noodles. It seemed to be much nicer when it was fried by the Rolex Uncle then as compared to this particular plate. The standard is definitely not quite the same, close perhaps but not the same.

The overall taste of the Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee was rather passable but definitely not good enough to reckon a return in the near future.
