Since there’s Mont Blanc the French mountain, Kenneth decided to have a SEA mountain on his collection too. A deliberate misspelling, Kinabaru ($8+) has layers of coconut mousse, passionfruit creme and a chocolate sponge base. The heavenly sweet-tanginess of passionfruit hits you first, followed by a subtle coconut aftertaste. Very interesting!

I've always associated white chocolate with "overly sweet" and "rich". But this cake has given me new perspective; the cloudlike white chocolate mousse here is sweetened to just the right degree.

LRRH ($8.50): My, what a flawless complexion you have! As with all of K Ki's cakes, this LRRH has been perfectly assembled. Look at how even the sheen of chocolate is! Stunning, isn't she?

And of course, nothing but Valrhona dark chocolate would do. There's some raspberry puree hidden within the smooth mousse which lightens the richness of all that chocolate. Good for people like me who don't quite fancy chocolate mousses for that reason!

Kinabaru ($8): I love passionfruit. No wonder I'm especially enamored with this layered creation of etherally light coconut mousse and sunshine-yellow passionfruit creme. While the well-balanced flavors were mild on the tastebuds, this creation deeply impressed.

Kinabaru, you're clearly my favorite thus far... I'll be having you again! I think Mom will take a fancy to you too. Maybe I'll get her a large version of you on her birthday!

See how precisely the Kinabaru has been sliced? And how the different layers are perfectly parallel to each other? (:

K Ki comes up with simply refined creations. One thing that I like about the cakes is how they're sweetened to just the right degree, another is how beautifully presented they always are. One's gotta love the warm and friendly service too!

Opened early this year, K ki is the much talked about café tucked in a quiet corner of Ann Siang Hill. The shop is the <strike>business venture</strike> fruit of love of two lovely couples - Kenneth and Delphine of ケーキ, and Stanley and Antoinette of the little dröm store.

Stepping into this Japanese-styled café, it's not hard to notice a Muji-like ambiance. Simplistic is the key word here, as everything is kept bare -no opulent decoration nor fanciful artwork, yet every corner emits an unspeakable charm.

Instead of laying out a wide selection of cakes at the counter, only small quantities are displayed and stock gets replenished every hour to ensure freshness.

We ordered Lychee Ginger($8) and Antoinette($8) that afternoon. Personally I don't like ginger, but smooth ginger mousse and a mild hint of lychee was a good combination.

So loved by one of the drömkeepers, Delphine and Kenneth decided to name this lovely creation after her. Featuring feathery white chocolate mousse neatly moulded into the shape of a teardrop, Antoinette reveals a drop of mango purée at the centre like a sweet little gem.

One bite is all it takes to fall in love with this beauty.

The kitchen pulled out a fresh batch of Mont Blanc($8.50) while we were having our cakes. Lucky!

Chestnut purée embedded with sweet chestnut bits, sitting on a spongy almond meringue base, Mont Blanc is a mount beautifully wrapped around by chestnut strands snowed with magic powder.

When visiting K ki, it's a crime not to take some time to browse the many knick-knacks at the little dröm store which sells nostalgic items like pencil sharpens and twin lens reflex cameras, one of which would definitely evoke fond memories of your innocent days.

This was my 5th visit to K ki. All the previous visits had me turned away by a full house as there were 4 tables which only can seat eight people indoor. A casual conversation with Delphine revealed that their intention to have the minimal seating is to provide customers with the much needed space to relax in a fast-paced city like Singapore. With such thoughtfulness along with awesome cakes and outstanding service, there is little to wonder why many keep coming back.

K Ki is a tiny little cake shop in Club Street that specialises in making Japanese style cakes. These cakes are usually small, delicate and complex, the Japanese style of making them. The shop is partnered together with another shop in the same space, the Little Drom Store which sells vintage bric-a-bracs. Together, the space you find yourself in is peaceful and great for an afternoon off to relax in. Seating is quite limited, about 4 indoor tables seating 2 each and 1 outdoor table that seats 4.

Cafe Dumo is a chocolate-coffee cake which I was skeptical at first because I don’t like the taste of coffee. But upon tasting it, it was actually quite nice because of how mild the coffee taste was. They managed to make it blend together with the chocolate so that the bitterness was mellowed away.

Little Red Riding Hood has to be my favourite cake from K Ki! This is 70% dark chocolate mousse cake with a raspberry filling in the center that provided a touch of tartness. Fantastically rich and I pretty much finished it off really fast because it was so nice.

And here I am. Finally on my way to the much raved about K Ki. I have seen countless photos of K Ki’s enticing cakes and they are always calling out to me. Ok I admit I’m slow but it’s better late than never right? Anyway I shall not attempt to go into the details about how K Ki came about but I believe it’s (almost) every girl’s dream come true. How fortunate to be able to work alongside your husband, doing something that you really enjoy! I fell in love with K Ki the moment I stepped in. It’s

Anyway I shall not attempt to go into the details about how K Ki came about but I believe it’s (almost) every girl’s dream come true. How fortunate to be able to work alongside your husband, doing something that you really enjoy!

I fell in love with K Ki the moment I stepped in. It’s cosy, neat and simple. Somehow, I find that the wooden furniture gives the place a very nice, rustic feel and it makes one feel at ease immediately. Absolutely nothing pretentious here.

Call me silly but I was a little worried when I was told that Kinabaru ($8) is basically layers of coconut mousse, passion fruit creme and a spongy chocolate base. I don’t detest coconut but I’m not entirely a huge fan of it either. Passion fruit? The only thing that comes close is the body scrub that I have. Sorry but I don’t really fancy tart flavours. It got me thinking that the only consolation would probably be the chocolate base! I took my first bite with caution and.. hey it’s not as bad as I thought it would be! The coconut mousse is light and smooth, plus the passion fruit had a nice refreshing twist! Maybe I’m a little ‘conservative’ but after having the Kinabaru, I reckon it’s nice to excite your taste buds once in awhile

The Antoinette ($8) is a beautiful piece of art and it got me fooled. I didn’t expect that the white fluffy coating to be white chocolate! I love chocolate in all shapes, colors and sizes. Sweetness was just right and it certainly wasn’t cloying. There is a very sexy centre hidden within the Antoinette and it’s wet, I mean molten mango puree. A very interesting pairing of white chocolate and mango. Yummeh.. I love it!

I can’t help but giggle upon realizing why this particular creation is named Little Red Riding Hood ($8.50). The shiny chocolate ganache is so gorgeous and I could almost see my own reflection staring down at it. The dark chocolate was bitter sweet and very rich. The raspberry filling within the chocolate mousse had a slight frozen, icy texture which made me shiver with delight.

I say, simplicity is best. You probably wouldn’t give Cafe Dumo ($8) a proper look in the beginning, especially when the other exquisite creations are fighting for your attention, all at the same time. When you finally decide to give it a second look, you realize that the Cafe Dumo can’t be all that simple and it lures you to it, to unravel its mystery and discover what truly lies within. Shall I tell you what I found? Go figure it out for yourself!
Coffee lovers will find joy in savoring this. I still have a hard time deciding which is my favorite
All I can say is that, it is a tie between Antoinette and Cafe Dumo!

I will definitely go back and try the Strawberry Tart, Mont Blanc, Mona, and everything else that I can get my hands on
