We were too ambitious and over-ordered many items to share!

Tamago $1.80++, perfectly done with runny yolk, thumbs up.

Gyoza $5.80++, nice and juicy minced pork fillings...yums.

My Pork slices ramen $17.80++, I picked the red miso broth which was very flavorful yet not salty. The pork slices were soft and well marinated, noodles were springy in texture...overall, very yummy.

We also ordered a 7pcs Oden $15++, the broth was good but we were too full by then to appreciate it. There is one item that intrigues me, it looks like a bunch of beehoon tied into a knot, but tasted more like konnyaku.

Food here is pretty authentic, service was decent and prices are pretty much similar to what we paid in Japan. It is a nice place for a quick ramen fix.

Being situated just beside the escalator that leads from the Orchard MRT station all the way to B4, it's not difficult to find Men-ya KAIKO. Then again, it can be easily missed since its entrance is rather small and the glass panel showing signature items from its menu is further down the corridor. I just needed a quick bite and settled for my usual combination of gyoza and ramen. The gyoza here had a nice crisp surface but the filing was pretty much standard so it lacked a "wow" factor to surprise me.

Similarly, the pork ramen was decent and slightly unusual because the pork slices were not the usual char siew seen in most ramen restaurants. Instead, the pork here had a slightly chewy texture and didn't have as much fats as most versions. Then again, I thought the taste of the pork didn't blend well with the ramen soup base nor the ramen itself so I gather it must have been cooked in a different type of sauce. Seeing that stalk of xiaobaicai in the noodles was yet another sign that Kaiko seems to want to go local in terms of adapting to the Singaporean tastebuds but I find it really odd to see this type of vegetable in my ramen.

I wouldn't say that this place is bad but it does have its flaws here and there so I might be reluctant to return unless I happen to have no other food choices in Ion.

spicy ramen - Red $15.80Total was $18.60 including service charge and gst. The type of ramen used for this is the hokkaido styled ramen which resembled somewhat like our yellow noodles. This is one of those places where you can satisfy your ramen cravings if you're not a picky eater. The food here isn't fantastic, but it's not bad either. I particularly enjoy the ramen here because it reminds me of the ones you find in instant noodles. The broth is overly salty while the cha shu tastes strangely sweetened. You can also add an onsen egg if you want.

The ramen here is highly recommended by my friend thus I had to give it a go when I had a chance.Chicken Ramen ($16.90++)I ordered the Chicken Ramen (white miso) which comes with a generous amount of chicken meat. I was given a mix of breast and thigh meat.. the breast chicken is meat is rather dry.I do enjoy the noodles and the soup base. The noodles are springy, chewy and soaks up the soup well. The soup is also not too salty. Very enjoyable.

Was shopping with my friends at ion and we decided to have dinner within the mall. We came to this ramen restaurant that is our first visit. I had hokkaido kaiko ramen (red miso) which cost SGD $12.80++. A generous portion is given but soup gets a little too salty towards the end. I recommend you all to add a bit of pepper to enhance the taste of the soup. The char siew is alright though. But not those kind that will "melt" in your mouth. Overall, i will rate this dish 3/5.

Nevertheless, the ramen was really good. The noodles are chewy and the soup is full of flavour.

I would probably recommend just the ramen and not the rest of the items I had in my set.

What I love the most about this ramen stall is the texture of it! Menya Kaiko sells Hokkaido style ramen, which is a kind of thick and curly noodle ( looks like instant noodle). Unlike the one in Marutama ramen ( thinner noodle). There are 3 kind of soup base, white miso, red miso, and soy sauce. I always order the original taste, white miso soup base. The noodle come with a slice of char siew and a stalk of green vegetable ( chye sim). The char siew can be improved if compare to other ramen shop, as you do not get to taste the char siew melting in your mouth. If you have tried authentic Japanese ramen, you will know the broth is very strong, some people will say that is too saltish, but to me, Menya kaiko white miso soup is still bearable. I love the 'QQ' texture of the noodle, and I will definitely return again. Although it is a little pricey but is worth it! By the way, water is free.

I like gyozas a lot! 8 to 10 of these delicious dumplings could settle a meal for me! The gyozas here are really yummy! The skin is pan-fried till crispy and the meat in it is also very yummy! Its fresh and tasty and most importantly, it has a bit of sauce in it which makes it a little more moist than what other gyozas are! I prefer the original taste of it but the sauce given also goes well with the gyozas.

I had this bowl of Ramen for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. I thought the taste and everything were so so only when I first tried it. However, when I visited them the second time round and ordered the same bowl of Ramen, it tasted soooo good! I strongly recommend Ramen lovers to check out this place!
