Last but not least, Tiramisu was spongy. How can we missed it up? Thick flavour of Espresso, it overwhelmed with creamy blend. Silky smooth in texture, Espresso powder added point for it. The overall was pleasantly charming. Price at $7.80, I admit it was a bit expensive.

We all ordered the roasted chicken, the overall look was plain as it's just simply half chicken, with the light brown color sauce and bit of leaves.
The taste was not bad, especially the sauce is quite nice, but I feel that Great World City's one is better.
The truffle fries was quite good too.
So overall it's not bad.

After a long week in the office, it is finally FRIDAY!! "THANK GOD IT'S FOOD-DAY!!" Gathered a bunch of colleagues and head down to the newly renovated Bugis+. After renovation, Bugis+ has more casual dining restaurant and one of which is a casual French restaurant, Poulet.

Poulet specializes in roast chicken and diners are able to see the chickens roasting from their open concept kitchen.
For appetizers we order half a dozen of escargot, the soft meat in olive oil and garlic complement each other. We also ordered the wild mushroom soup, it is thick and creamy. For main course, it is none other than their famous roast chicken! The chicken is lightly marinated and it is soft and tender. As for dessert, we ordered tiramisu! It is not to sweet and very fluffy.

Overall, Poulet is a casual dining place that serves affordable and decent French cuisine.

Poulet, which means Chicken in French, has grown since its was established in 2012, and now has several outlets islandwide in Singapore.

Ambience at Poulet is modern, contemporary French bistro style. Comfortable, wooden tables and classic elegant chairs adorn the typically tight layout and small floor space of each outlet. There isn't much decor, as the open concept of Poulet leaves little space to hang items, but the open kitchen provides a welcome distraction whilst waiting for your food.

Fortunately, you wouldn't have to wait long for food at Poulet. Service is quick and efficient, almost like clockwork, orders are taken and served fast. This owes no small part to the overlap of ingredients in many dishes, as the base sauce and / or vegetables turn up in many of their offerings. Staff at Poulet are friendly and welcoming, with good product knowledge, but don't expect to carry too much conversation with them, due to the near constant stream of customers dining here.

Food at Poulet is hearty and tasty, with each dish thoughfully presented and arranged beautifully. Prices per dish are relatively reasonable, and cheaper than most other French restaurants, at around SGD $10 for an appetizer / starter, around SGD $18 - $22 for a main dish, and around SGD $12 for a dessert. The majority of main dishes at Poulet are carbohydrate-free and rather light, you'll have to order the carbohydrates / starch (Mashed Potato, French Fries) separately as a side dish.

their specialty is the poulet roti ($15.80 half, $28.80 whole), which is the french roast chicken. i was initially skeptical about it, thinking it would be overly fried (i guess i kinda had duck confit in mind when i was thinking this
), but turned out to be pleasantly surprised!
the skin was a lovely crisp, but definitely not oily, and the chicken meat was deliciously juicy and succulent! we absolutely devoured every bit of it. the chicken came bathed in a creamy sauce, which was no doubt sinful, but i absolutely couldnt resist dipping my chicken in it!!! the sauce brought out the flavours of the poultry beautifully.

we also ordered the braised chicken (i forgot to take a photo of the menu! so i can’t remember the exact name and price >.< think it was around $14.80). this is the kind of food-for-the-soul you would love to have on a rainy day. the chicken is braised till the meat falls off the bone, and it comes with a broth that is simply homely.

you may want to try out their appetizers as well! check out the sauteed mushrooms. they were really fragrant and yummy!

Had half a signature roast chicken soaked in mushroom sauce that was decently juicy and tender, but a tad too small for a lady, let alone the guy friends. The mushroom poached egg dish was a favourite as it combined the best of the both of my favourite food, but definitely appetiser level as it was unfilling. Was also quite oily. The Mascarpone Cheese (Dessert) had a mixture of expresso and rum flavour, but wasnt too my liking as the expresso taste was too strong.

Choose poulet and I definitely never regret a single bit! the mash potato is very buttery and fluffy. didn't expect it to be so nice. For the main, I ordered the signature Poulet chicken. It is very delicious! I kinda wish they provide more cream sauce for the chicken though. The skin tastes so good too. Perfect dish!

While all of them had the HOT item of the restaurant - Poulet Rosti (Roast Chicken), which roasted was served with mushroom sauce. I find the mushroom sauce slightly diluted, but the chicken was very tender.

We ordered a few side dishes for sharing. French Onion Soup; Sausages, Fries & Escargots - While Sausages & Fries ain't fantastic, the French Onion soup is fantastic! Escargots on the other hand ain't how I like it to be done. This was done with tomato & almond garlic butter. I prefer the old-school way with only garlic & butter.

Another place that has added on to the list of affordable French food dining places, along the ranks of Saveur, Black Gold and a few sprouting ones. Serving up its signature roast chicken, just as its name suggests (pronounced as pou-leh), we were pretty surprised by how reviews were ravingly good and wondered how different or great can roast chicken get.

Roast Chicken with Cranberry Sauce and Double Mustard ($17.80)
A special off their menu, we ordered the cranberry half chicken, with accompanying mustard sauce. First mouthful, I was pretty surprised by the juices that flowed out with every bite, and a nicely marinated chicken. I thought the meat was slightly tough, and the skin wasn't exactly a wow version, just slightly savory like what you'd expect of a typical roast chicken.

Ordering this for its cranberry sauce, I was greatly disappointed. It tasted nothing like cranberries, without the sweetness of it and in fact, had a strong resemblance with brown sauce that usually goes on top your chicken chop ordered from the food court. I'm not a fan of mustard as sharpness of it isn't exactly to my palate, but perhaps mustard go-ers would find this a good complement with the variation to excite your taste buds.

Roast Chicken with Mushroom Chardonnay Sauce ($15.80)
This was their classic dish, a taste of the sauce and I thought it went much better with the dish. A light creamy sauce, again, it didn't quite go with the description. It was just slightly flavoured with a tinge of mushroom, and mostly I could only taste the savory-ness of the creamy sauce.

Tiramisu ($7.80)
A classic dessert for any French place, I was hoping that this would be the redeeming factor for my less-than-satisfying meal. A pretty container, we opened up to a nicely powdered top. Digging in, I was overwhelmed by how creamy it was, followed by a mouthful of overly moist sponge fingers. There wasn't a strong coffee flavour in it as well, at least not strong enough for me, and it got too jelat with the rich cream after just a few mouthfuls.

With a half-chicken for dinner, I thought the serving was a little small, with no sides that usually accompanies when you order it at western joints, that I still felt hungry after finishing it. I thought it was a pretty decent roast chicken, but doesn't live up to its claimed 'amazing roast chicken' title. It was quite overrated with the snaking long queues I've always spotted and if you'd really want a shot of it, reach before 7 to avoid the long queueing time!

Poulet Roti (Poulet's signature roast chicken) comes with some unknown raw vegetables, and fresh mushrooms in a creamy sauce that tastes strongly of coconut milk. This is quite unique and nice, but I wouldn't order this for myself because a significant part of the chicken is chicken breast which can be a rather large portion for one person to consume. But to be fair, the roasted chicken was quite good. The skin was sufficiently crispy and fats easily removed. The meat itself was also very tasty

I always love croissant just nice my sandwich come with it ... but not to my liking cos is kinda over baked and the buttery taste not that strong. hubby commented that the garlic smell have actually too strong and cannot really taste the chicken original taste. Jon commented his so so only nothing to rave about the worst - the prawn fritters it was over fried with a very smelly oil taste and is so tough that feel like eating rubber! Guess that their oil was not change very frequently or maybe we were served food that was cooked very long ago cos is not hot when it was served!

Overall the ambiance quite good .... food was so so only .... if given a choice it will be on my last choice to come back again. But to have a pocket friendly casual french cuisine this is the place that you should visit .... but for my personal liking is still my last choice!

With 1 coke ($3.80) , 1 long black ($3.90) and 3 warm water ($0.50 each) (is non refillable). Alyssa accidentally knock off her cup and all water spilled they don't even bother about exchange one for her. Total bill with 7% GST and service charge - $91.35.

My friend was raving about how fluffy and cloud-like the mashed potato from Poulet was, so I had to give it a try. It is one of the side dishes, and portion enough for 2 or 3 to share so that you won't be too full for other dishes. It was indeed fluffy, creamy and a little buttery, one of the better mashed potato I have had. I also had their escargots, which was very flavourful and I loved the bits of pesto(?) added in the sauce.

Nestled at the mall's fourth floor, Poulet features a 60-seat open dining area inspired by modern alfresco setting in France, furnished with classic wooden tables and chairs. Diners can also catch the chefs in action through the open kitchen.

On their 2-page menu, expect to find a variety of appetisers, main courses such as Braise de Carnard and Oxtail de Bourguignon ($15.80), as well as classic French desserts. And of course, as the name itself suggests, Poulet Roti (roast chicken) is their star dish, which well, makes it a must try for starters.

The house signature of Poulet, their roast chicken (S$28.80 for whole) which was marinated and slow roasted until golden brown using a traditional recipe, was very well savoury and flavourful, while the chicken meat in itself was tender and moist. The best (and addictive) part was probably the home-made mushroom sauce. Prior to this, didn't i thought that creamy sauce and roasted chicken complements one another so well. But now I do. It's obvious, if you are here at Poulet, don't miss out their star dish.

Before that, we ordered their Country Side Mushroom Soup (S$5.80) which proves to be the best I have ever tasted. The cream of wild mushrooms, together with Idaho potato was so flavourful and incredibly creamy, you wouldn't want to waste a single drop.

What is French cuisine without the company of the prized Escargot de Bourgogne ($8.80)? Served with tomato fondue and almond garlic butter, these 6 Burgundy snails did not die in vain. Well.. sadistically speaking. Unlike the previous escargots I have had, their rendition of the garden mollusks did not leave a strong aftertaste which was very well enjoyable.

Mediterranean Stewed Lamb Shank (S$15.80) was delightful with soft, tender meat infused with flavours derived from its own jus and orange. It is completed with root veggies such as onions and carrots. Portion-wise, my girlfriend can barely finish three quarters of it.

Slow cooked to ensure that the intense flavours of onions, garlics and potatoes are captured into the tender white meat, Braise de Poulet (S$13.80) might be just another option for you if you prefer a healthier alternative to the roasted version. Only thumbs down is probably the sheer size who might not satisfy a grown man's stomach completely.

What is a good meal without desserts? Truthfully speaking, there aren't a lot of choices for desserts at Poulet. Hence we chose the one that seems the most appetising to us - and yes, that's Tiramisu (S$7.80)! I wouldn't qualify this as the better ones out there, as the sponge fingers layer was so drenched in espresso and had an overpowering taste of rum syrup, resulting in the whole dish being too soggy. The top layer of mascarpone cheese dusted with espresso powder was delightful nonetheless.

All in all, Poulet proves to be a good place to have decent French cuisine without having to burn a big hole in the pocket. Thumbs up, I will definitely be back.
