I picked my favourite, and was generously given a huge Chicken Thigh with some fresh veggies dressing. Teriyaki sauce was amazingly useful for most of the dishes. Of course it depends on how the chef cooking. It was done right, very savoury and delicious accompaniment to plain rice. Boneless chicken, it was juicy tender and well-marinated with a crisp slightly burnt skin. It costed $8.80 for it.

Salted egg chicken rice set - $6.80There was a recommended new dish for today - the salted egg chicken rice set. The picture shown at the counter looked good, so I decided to try it. I was really disappointed when I saw my dish. There were only pathetically thin strips of chicken (as opposed to what I saw as bigger chicken chunks in their promo photo) which had more batter than meat. There was also not enough salted egg sauce to coat the chicken pieces. The amount of chicken given was so little,

There was a recommended new dish for today - the salted egg chicken rice set. The amount of chicken given was so little, my dining companions actually pitied me and wanted to offer me some of their food...
The accompanying Japanese side salad and achar thankfully provided some solace. Otherwise, I would have been utterly devastated.

- Daily home-made soup sets

I thought their soup sets were quite worth it but I did not fancy the soup for today, so I ordered the chicken chop instead.

The chicken chop was very tender but I was puzzled that a teriyaki-like sauce (a bit on a the sweet side) was given instead of the mushroom sauce. Fries were slightly over-fried but still ok. The side salad was "japanese-like" and was a rather nice change from the usual run-of-the-mill coleslaw given elsewhere. Generally not bad, might be back to try their soup sets on another day. Thankfully there's no service or gst charge imposed on your bill.
