The pasta at CBTL is good enough for me although they are of course not superb. They are good to fill one's stomach as the portion is quite big. As there is an outlet near NUS where I am schooling at, I often frequent the place and thus have actually tried all of the pasta on the menu haha Out of all, the recommended ones are the chicken n' mushroom, salmon n' cream as well as the beef lasagne. I don't fancy much the other choices. The first two are cream-based and are not too creamy. But I ofte

The lunch or dinner sets would be worthwhile if you want to top it up with any of their drinks.

Generally the pastas are not too bad for a simple unpretentious meal

For something lighter, go for the Chic Mayo Sandwich with wholewheat bread

Stopping for a quick lunch at NUH's Coffee Bean, I decided on their Herb & Tomato Fusilli. This is a vegetarian option, (and the only one at that for the range of pastas) and cost around $11. It doesn't look like much but it's actually real comfort food, with a sizeable portion of fusilli in chunky tomato sauce, mozarella on the side as well as a thin & long stick of bread. The tomato sauce is slightly watery, and resting at the bottom of the pasta is olive oil (which you have to mix in!). The tomato sauce is slightly watery, and resting at the bottom of the pasta is olive oil (which you have to mix in!). The cheese provides a nice creamy texture to the sauce when mixed in, and the stringiness is pleasant with the slightly tangy tomato sauce. The bread is also surprisingly aromatic, and while I would have liked it more crusty, it was definitely tasty (tastes much better than the plain white it appears as!).

It's great comfort food when generously spooned into your mouth while hot, at around $11 it's slightly pricey, but NUS students get a discount. The service here is also super -the staff is patient with your requests/questions, and they're efficient in clearing tables too, all the while maintaining a smile on their faces. Pleasant!

Brek 'O' Day (~$8) is served with scrambled eggs, two slices of toasts, two sausages and salad. I quite like their freshly made salad, the crisp lettuce, generous amount of flake almond and cranberries is drizzled with sweet tangy dressing, very appetizing!

Salmon scrambled (~$8) consists of scrambled egg and smoked salmon staked on a muffin bun. The smoked salmon is quite salty, yet tastes alright if consume together with the egg in a mouthful.

Paying the bill with UOB credit card at Coffee Bean will get you a 10% SMART$ rebates.

I went to Coffee Bean for lunch and ordered the $9.90 Shepards pie set (where I can top up $1.50 for coffee/ tea). When my lunch is served, I was shocked seeing how huge is the Shepards pie! Topped with lots of cheese and potato, the pie is filled with minced lamb meat and some mixed vegetables. The filling is cooked till very soft and tender, and I must say it's so well-seasoned. Love it, and very filling too!

Conveniently located outside the Kent Ridge circle line MRT, this Coffee Bean outlet is consistently filled with staffs and students from NUH and NUS. Very crowded most of the time. I was there early in the morning to get my breakfast and coffee dose. I had the Egg Benedict set that comes with milk coffee. You will get discount if you pay by UOB credit card. The english muffin is not very much toasted, but the poached egg is very nicely done. The hollandaise sauce looks quite light in colour compared to those I used to have, but it tastes good too. Also, not to forget their delicious side salad that contains the dried berries and lettuce, taste good.
