i never try blue cheese before so i was in dilemma whether try or not to try their blue cheese beef burger. The waiter is very sweet, he actually bring a bit of blue cheese for me to try. i decided to give it a try. The beef is high quality, taste tender and cook with perfect standard. I like the roasted pear and sweet onion jam. You can add in barbeque sauce if you like. Topped with blue cheese and caramelised onion (with wine), it tasted awesome.

Yet another new shopping centre, yet another burger joint. With it's wildly successful outlet at Raffles City Shopping Centre, The Hand Burger has decided to open up a branch at the new 313 @ Somerset, which is the latest addition to Orchard Road's lineup of shopping malls.

The eatery is located at B2 of the shopping mall with its decor revolving around the extensive use of wood and of course mirrors to make the interior seem much bigger than it really is. Tables and seats are reminiscent of school canteens' long communal dining tables and benches. The menu isn't extensive, offering just over 10 different burgers. That's specialisation for you.

The Works Burger - As the name implies, this has all the bells and whistles thrown into it. Think "The Handburger Original" with onion rings, bacon strips and mushrooms. Absolutely terrific sounding if I may say. But hype/expectation usually precedes reality. First and foremost, the bacon strips were a little too hard and dry for my liking while the buns were blackened on the flat surface and probably had a little sweet onion jam on it but I would have preferred it lightly crisp along the edges. As for the beef patty, I appreciated the bits of fats present, which lended a nice chewy texture. However, the patty was overcooked, a little too dry and lacked the inherent beefy sweetness (It's supposed to be a sirloin cut!).

Side of Fries - Thumbs up for the skin that came along, which I personally like. But the fries were too soggy and didn't seem particularly fresh.

Service was decent but that could also be due in part to the lack of crowd on a Saturday afternoon. The burgers are not worth the premium in my humble opinion as they are neither big or particularly great. In short, I am not impressed and I won't be going back in a hurry. One thing I don't quite understand is the fact that they charge 10% service yet I am suppose to go to the counter to make payment after my meal? Is it merely a gimmick to increase the bottomline of the restaurant?

Lunched at The Handburger! The burger was so usual, so big that it canot be eaten neatly. Hahaha! But afterall, that was what made it fun too! To watch your friend’s vege dropping out of the burger and laughing with one another. Tried the Chicken burger. It was good! Very tasty and juicy, and the portion was so generous that it could last us for the entire day!

We tried to types of burgers @ The Hand Burger - the hand burger original (see picture) and stuffed portobello burger. The former cost $13.80 and the latter $14.80. The original handburger is so much more worth it than the portobello one. The original burger had a thick juicy patty and a nice blob of jam on top. It may not be the best burger i've ever had, but its close to it. The portobello one was terrible. The mushroom was so big and rubbery that its hard to cut it, i had to resort to trying

The mushroom was so big and rubbery that its hard to cut it, i had to resort to trying to use my teeth to bite into it, resulting in many unglam attempts. The sauce was also very bitter, making it very difficult to finish the burger. The breads were all very nice because they're light and crispy.

As for the restaurant, its rather squeezy and you could end up sitting very close to the stranger next to you. On the up side, food is served very fast and cleared very fast also, so turnover rate is rather high and you wouldn't have to worry about waiting very long if you're outside in the que.

Duck leg confit burger
New and creative to have duck meat as burger. And there is also orange on top of the meat to clear the oiliness and the sourness can light up the whole dish. The salad has fresh vege, fried bacon and crouton on top which is a good combination. Esp the bacon was so fragrant can't stop eating it.

Chicken Caesar Burger

I am so loving this burger. The grilled chicken has fragrant grill flavour with a cheese slides on it. The tomato and caesar vege inside are so fresh and cold. Besides, the sauce for the burger is just nice which is some sauteed mushroom sauce.

Pulled Pork burger

Similar to some kind of Char Siew Bao pork but with a tinge of sour flavour. Tasted nice with the burger bread together with fresh vege too.

Buttered Dory Fish Burger

The batter used is crispy and tasted nice with the fish. But it doesn't quite suits the burger, if it's the fish and chip main course it will be better i guess.

We visited this restaurant on Sunday at about 5pm and the restaurant already more than half full with customers. We visited this for the first time so they gave us a free member card to be registered on line. The card is to accumulate the points.

Next time I would like to visit again and I'll try their main burger

I have heard this is gourmet burgers. I would have a higher expectation as compare to those fast food chain stores. In terms of choices for types of breads and fillings, they are certainly won. We need to get use to the way they place order as we need to choose the type of bread, fillings, etc, on our own. We chose prawn burger and pork burger each. Portion wise, it is big for a meal. Burger bread was really fresh and good. Tomato stuffed with coleslaw was good too as it refreshed your tastebud. Pork slices were OK.

I would think chips were the second main dish of this meal. I was looking forward to eating it. They didn’t serve fries like McD or BK, instead they served chips (a bigger version of fries). Chips were cold and soften, it wasn’t lively!!! Both of us could tasted it was dipped in the cold oil (oil’s temperature wasn’t reach to the deep fry point) too long, it absorbed too much of oil and it wasn’t crispy at all ~ really bad!

Prawns burger ~ prawns were marinated with too much of bicarbonate of soda, it was bitter and transparent in colour, it showed that prawn was 100% not fresh!

Nope, I would not return unless they sell only burger bread, then I would consider to buy the bread only!

I was back at The HandBurger again for the 3rd time in just 2 months of 2011! I just cannot resist coming back for more burgers and lychee mint crush! This is really a great place for a casual dining out session with friends. From my countless dining experiences at THB, i knew that they serve quite a big portion for one person, hence i shared 'The Works' with my girl-friend. The beef was well done but it wasnt tough. It was another enjoyable dinner at THB! Should register myself as a THB member

I ordered the Pulled Pork Burger at The Handburger restaurant@313. It costs $8.90++ for the meal, which I thought the price was reasonable. The pulled pork tasted salty though it was supposed to be a healthy meal as the term pulled pork meant lower fat in the meat. The bread patty tasted alright, it was grilled at the right temperature. The ambience of the restaurant was unique and I liked the decor of it.

Overall it tasted really nice, the meat was not too tough and was juicy instead. Very delicious!

The interesting concept and (I hope) they use the best materials and clean out the oil when used only a few times and not more than 10x whatsoever makes Hand Burger a successful local eatery.

For dinner, I went all out as I was ultra hungry. Say goodbye to diet!

Ordered the general favorite burger set ($15?) and upgraded my drink to the signature Nutella blend for an additional $4. It has a burnt marshmallow on top too. Then I chose Calamari as my side dish.

It took a while to let them first bring in the plate - sorry for being a noob - empty, place in front of me. Its my first time eating at Handburger, so it was a new experience. Came the interesting wooden plate first laid in front of you, then within a matter of time, it'll be filled, first the side dish, drink then finally the main dish arrives filling in the big circle.

My calamari and drink came first. OH GOODNESS THESE TWO ARE THE MOST SINFUL THINGS EVER ON MY TABLE.
The calamari was soft inside, although very skinny skinny, but the batter was crispy and delicious - I think they make their own batter. It was really good with the tartar sauce, the moment you bite it, the crispy skin dissolves and you have to bite hard and pull cos squid is really hard to eat. The calamari is very big in its circumference. Better to enjoy and take bites than to finish it all at once.

The nutella was godly amazing. With the burnt marshmallows where it oozes its soft filling inside cos its hard outside, cannot champion this as the sinning food of the day. Must try!

Th main dish came, with egg, bacon and meat as its filling, topped with cheese. The taste is just OK for the burger, although it has less grease compared to fast food joints (but that's what makes it real good right!
). Not too impressive, it's normal for the taste. I'd rather take a swiss mushroom anytime because of more taste.

Burger is no longer a fast food. It can be a great dining experience. No more using the hand to eat the burger. Just like having the western food, the handburger using the fork and knife. The meat is bigger than the bread and tender. The bread is soft with the sauces applied on it which i found i can eat the bread alone without the meat for my dinner.
The staff trying to serve all we want but it's really difficult to cater all our needs as the restaurant is very crowded and it's quite short handed.
