This place is only accessible by car, since it's located at the Bukit Timah stables. First thing that caught my attention, was the display of fancy cupcakes. It was good!
I don't eat enough wraps to comment if a wrap is good, but this one's a little crispy!
That ought to set the distinction.
And there were avocado chunks in it! The Sweet Potato Fries were also yummy, though I couldn't eat them continuously. Had it been spiced (normal) fries, I'd cleaned off the plate!

The Sea Salt Caramel Cheesecake was just average to me (I'm biased when I reviewed this, as I had insanely good Tofu Cheesecake back at home
).

The Red Velvet Cupcake, strangely, tasted like cheesecake (even after I had rinsed my mouth before tasting it). The cream cheese layer beneath the coconut strands had overwhelmed the supposed taste of the cupcake (how does Red Velvet taste anyway?).

The ambience at this restaurant is certainly romantic for young couples who want to while the time away with each other's company. A walk to the stables nearby should end off the date well.

Except for the waitress who was overzealous in clearing our unfinished food, plates and cutlery, the overall experience was fine.

Total Cost: Approx. $20 per pax.
Other Info. : 10-15% off using Standard Chartered Credit Cards

Mushroom risotto. Kinda like cheesy sticky rice with many mushrooms in it. Mushrooms, cheese and rice lovers would probably like this simple and easy to eat dish. But sadly, like I mentioned I wasn’t feeling all too good and so I didn’t eat a lot of it despite it’s $22. Nevertheless, the overall atmosphere was acceptable though I still think it’s….. expensive.

It's a place where I would recommend for quiet and peaceful diners.

Marmalade Pantry at the Stables is located away from the city. I felt as if I was transported back to the past when there was no tall buildings and am at the country side surrounded by greenery. But of course with this, Marmalade Pantry at the Stables is located at a remote location and you would need to either drive or take a cab in. A quiet place for a relaxing evening, perfect for a date.

In the interior with its tall windows, high ceilings and cushion seats, it gives a modern colonial feel. The tables, chairs, utensils and cups were well arranged with precision.

The first thought when I saw The Mexican Chicken Salad with Crispy Tortilla, Avocado, Spiced Corn and Salsa was that, for such ingredients, they presented it so well. The different combination of ingredients resulted in contrasting texture(soft, crispy, chewy) with each bite. In addition, each mouthful was packed with different flavours.

The Pan Seared Haloumi was served with Roma Tomatoes and Watercress Herb Salad. It was well presented. The Haloumi is a semi-hard cheese made from a mixture of goat's, sheep's or/and cow's milk. One of its (Haloumi) unique characteristics is its high melting point. Hence, it is often (suitable) fried or grilled. The Haloumi has a similar appearance to beancurd. In terms of taste, it had a delicate smokey and salty flavour. The saltiness was balanced with the sweetness from the fresh juicy Roma Tomatoes and Watercress.

Crispy Pork Belly with Celeriac and Apple Slaw, French Mustard and Natural Jus. It was well seasoned but lack the crispiness as the layer of skin (fat) was removed. It was also too dry for my liking. This dish reminded me of the Kalua Pork at Charly's T which was executed differently.

Braised 120 Days Grain Fed Beef Cheeks with Horseradish Mash, Field Mushrooms and Pearl Onions was well executed. The Beef Cheeks were braised to perfection and were incredibly tender and flavourful with melt-in-your-mouth sensation.

The Spaghetti Carbonara with Poached Egg and Flat Parsley was a cream based pasta topped with shredded crispy bacon bits.

The Lemon Brulee Tart will be a dish that you either love or hate. Thin crispy golden caramelised crust coated on the top of the moist lemon tart provided a mixture of texture. The mix of sweetness and sourness was just right for me. No wonder there is this saying 'there's always room for dessert'. Despite feeling so full, I could not resist second and third bites.

The Sea Salt Caramel Cheesecake will also be a dish you either love or hate. Initially, my first thought was that this would be too heavy a dessert. Those who know me will know that I am not a fan of cheese cake. Yet this cheesecake was so good. The flavour of cheese was very forgiveable and not did not overwhelm the other flavours. In addition, it was light and dense with walnuts and a crumbly base with a hint of caramel saltiness. One of the best cheesecakes I have eaten!

The Red Velvet Cake with Coconut Cream Cheese Frosting was unique as it was topped with grated coconut. Moreover, no red food colouring was added. Instead, the deep red colouring came from beetroot juice. Personally, I prefer a more moist cupcake and the addition of the coconut did not suit my taste preference.

There was hits and misses. Out of all the dishes, I was most impressed with the Braised 120 Days Grain Fed Beef Cheeks, Lemon Brulee Tart and Sea Salt Caramel Cheesecake. Looks like a great place for a meal away from the fast-paced city life.

This bowl of baked fish may not really have very nice and elegant presentation, but the taste is simply delicious and really appetitizing too. The fish meat is very soft, fresh and juicy. The added diced potato inside make the flavour even more tasty and this dish is quite filling too. The topped puff pastry is also quite fragrant, soft and fluffy as well. The side salad was abit too plain and tasteless. Overall was not bad except the price of it is abit too expensive.

One of my friend drove us to the marmalade pantry at the stables to get our friend a birthday cupcake. That friend really like red velvet cupcake so we decided to get her one of the best ones in town. She was nice to share the cupcake with us. The cupcake was really moist. The red velvet flavor was to die for. The cupcake was not overly sweet as well. love the coconut shaving on top of the cupcake, made it taste nicer.

Anyway, it was an unplanned trip to Marmalade Pantry at Stables. My partner and I were supposed to go to Bollywood at Kranji but the sky was turning dark. Afraid that the weather will spoil our excursion, we decided to postpone our trip and detoured to Marmalade Pantry at Stables for lunch.

We decided to go for the Brunch menu and I had the Egg Benedict ($19). The lovely poached egg sitting on top of a ham and toast with a light hollandaise sauce brightened my day just like the sunshine breaking through the dark clouds.

My partner had the Egg Any Style ($20). She went for the poached egg too. The order also came with your choice of grilled English sausage or smoked bacon, sauteed mushrooms, roasted tomatoes, home made baked beans, whole wheat toast. This is definitely a hearty breakfast to start one's day.

Both breakfast set were really lovely and hearty. I bit too hearty that I have heart pain paying the type of price tag for breakfast. Will I visit the restaurant again? Yes. Will I order the brunch menu again? No. I rather go for the mains.

Unfortunately, Marmalade Pantry is not accessible by public transport. If you are not driving, the nearest MRT station is at Botanic Gardens Station. From the station, you will need to cab to the destination.

ANyway was a set menu so no choice.. First dish was quite cool.. was a soup with a crusty top.. was a seafood soup so i found it abit too fishy... grill salmon was ok... bf too a pulled beef dish which apparently was very good and tender as the meat was very soft n picked apart very easily.. but serving way too small.. we even joked abt having a second dinner.. =P

Dessert was wonderful though.. coyingly satisfying chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream..
