Located in Novena along a stretch of food places, its signboard is brightly lit and difficult to miss. It's definitely cheaper to go there for lunch than dinner; if I'm not wrong, they have affordable set lunches. I went there for dinner and tried their escargot, sauce was good and one can easily finish all 6 at one go. As for the salmon, it was pan seared till golden brown and meat was tender.

For 15 years... the vines seafood and steak restaurant has been serving the public well at novena ville. On the 6th of January 2013, they have closed their doors and is now operating at their other outlet at cantonment..

Thank You!

When i dined there last year and a few times before... i would say that their service is top notch fantastic.

Their servings... awesome and their ambience is fantastic. One of the best settings i have ever experienced in my life.

For starters, be prepared to ordered what you really want to eat as i was spoilt for choice.

Appetizer: I ordered cheese fries
Result: So-so because it was a little sweet.. for me i cannot mix sweet mayo or anything with fries. Even for mcdonalds fries, i do not eat with the chili sauce or tomato ketchup! Its so natural! It was served on a warm casserole dish so it was just ok to me.

Entree: I usually have the ribeye steak with the baked potato with a sambal sauce... Now if you are thinking sambal sauce... think again... sambal sauce is nice and a little sweet. When it comes with meat.. im more or less ok with a little sweetness but i wanna taste the meat.
Result: I ordered medium for the beef as i wanted it to be a little juicy and also a little bit bloody...
It was perfect for me... Im super particular for the beef... If memory serves me right.. it was about $23 for the ribeye..

Other options include surf and turf such as chicken, lobster, giant prawns mix and match combos...

Dessert: Green Tea Cake!
Verdict: nice but not my taste...

The service is fantastic... there is this particular gentlemen... i am pretty sure he is the boss or manager or something like that... He treats his customers right and engages in conversations with the customers. There was once he even sang happy birthday alone to someones birthday. If there is someone i respect for customer service... It is this guy! Honestly! No other guy i have seen can match his charisma!

I would want to visit the outlet in cantonment to see how it is like..

I love the decor of the place too, warm and cozy feeling

The salad's quite good, very fresh and refreshing.
However i find the fries serving is quite little, but it's ok.
The ribs itself is wow though it looks small but very meaty with super tasty BBQ sauce.
Definitely worth the money to go there have a try

A set meal included soup of the day, main course, tea or coffee and dessert of the days. The price is pretty reasonable too.

Went back to The Vines for lunch the other day and ordered serloin steak this time round! The steak is nicely done but the sauce is too little for the steak. The portion of the food there is really big so I suggest people with small appetite to share it with a friend! However, the service there can be improved further. Maybe it is due to lunch hour, the service is really slow and we had to tell the waiter 3 times to get our plates changed and the bill also took a really long time to come.

Who doesn't love oysters! Prefer to have it raw or baked? The Vines Restaurant have it all for you! I went there for a post-event lunch with my colleagues and everyone loved the food there! I prefer the baked one which had a generous amount of cheese on the fresh oyster but my colleague loved the raw one! Try it yourself and decide which is the one for you!

I went there on a Monday night, so naturally, there were not a lot of people around. I liked the ambience, dim lighting and cosy. Staffs were nice, polite and responded fast when we called them. However, the orders were taking way too long, considering that the restaurant only have less than 5 tables occupied at the moment. We ordered a dozen of fresh oysters, escargot and i had the bbq mixed grill. I am not a fan of oysters, so it is not my place to judge. The escargot comes at a price of $8.

We ordered a dozen of fresh oysters, escargot and i had the bbq mixed grill. I am not a fan of oysters, so it is not my place to judge. The escargot comes at a price of $8.50 for half a dozen, which is reasonable. However, the taste was a disappointment. It was too salty for my liking, though i can still taste the sweetness. I practically finished my glass of water just after a piece of it.

The bbq mixed grill ($18.80) consist of lamb, steak, salmon, chicken, a prawn and a baked potato. The baked potato was yummy!
I would say it is quite worth the price with the amount of meat that they gave. The chicken though, was too dry to be eaten on its own, and i keep putting the red wine mushroom sauce that was meant for the steak over it. Frankly speaking, i hate the prawn. It is just not fresh. The meat would just stick onto the shell, making it hard to remove the shell. Waste of my effort of the big but stale prawn, which i did not even finish after having the first bite.

Most likely, i would not be returning to the restaurant any time soon though my friends swore by their ribeye steak.

Had dinner here once after evening mass at the church across. Ambience setting is of typical 90s' western restaurant, the chestnut-brown wood, the specific smell The Vines carries as soon as you step in, you know the similar smell to places like Jack's Place? With the dim lights.

For its serving, the prices were worthy. I had a mix-grilled hot plate platter, consisting of grilled chicken and lamb chop, salmon, beef steak, one grilled prawn(yes one only), grilled vegetable and a large jacket potato with triple up heavy cream, bacon bits(not the light red ones out of a bottle but restaurant self-made) and extra chives. All these in one platter for approx 24$? Yes it was such a deal. We only managed to finish it with the help of my boyfriend. I suggest small eaters could really share one.

My boyfriend had the bbq pork ribs with a set meal(soup of the day, garlic bread and cake with coffee/tea) . The pork ribs was of decent amount. The ribs had its standard but I'd still call for average as I've tasted better ones. Came with side crinkle cut fries and coleslaw. I remember it was clam chowder for soup of the day and it was okay too, at least I could tell it didn't come out of a can. Dessert was a slice of cheesecake and a cup of hot tea to complement. Wanted to try the escargots for 8$ but by the time we considered, we were just too full to take another bite.

Service was polite and elaborate, they were also quick.

The Vines Seafood & Steak Restaurant is located at Upper Thomson road, not far away from Novena Square and opposite a Church. I have long heard their name as their BBQ pork ribs are one of the best ard, their prices are also cheaper compared to the other Western Food.Their dishes had a little Hainanese flavour to it. One must try is the Hainanese Oxtail Stew which is only available on weekends. They have set lunch and the menu changes everday! Thus, you would not get bored eating the same food.

The Vines Seafood & Steak Restaurant is located at Upper Thomson road, not far away from Novena Square and opposite a Church. I have long heard their name as their BBQ pork ribs are one of the best ard, their prices are also cheaper compared to the other Western Food.

Their dishes had a little Hainanese flavour to it. One must try is the Hainanese Oxtail Stew which is only available on weekends. They have set lunch and the menu changes everday! Thus, you would not get bored eating the same food. The main courses are priced at $12 & above and just add $3.50 to enjoy a soup, dessert and drink. There are only 3 types of fish available- The dory, Salmon and Ikan Kurau(Threadfin).

They would advise you not to over-order your food and please keep that in mind. The portion is here quite huge and listen to your tummy before you proceed with your orders. Initially I have sat my eyes for the Italian Gelato (menu placed on the table) but I had to skip that as I was too full for it. Luckily, I followed his words and did not order that.

Garlic Bread

2 slices of garlic bread was served immediately when I placed my order. The garlic bread was warm and fragrant with the aroma of garlic and butter. The crust was also very crispy. It’s great for nibbling while waiting for the soup to be served.

Seafood Chowder

The soup was served together with the garlic bread. I am not a fan of soup thus I wouldn’t give any comments on this seafood chowder. The only thing I felt was the soup was just ”ok”. It wasn’t too starchy and there were some prawns in it.

Pan-fried doryfish with curry cream sauce

This was my choice of mains. There was actually 1 fillet of doryfish but they cut in into 2, serving it with carrots, white carrots and long beans. Apparently the fish was served with curry cream sauce thus I pressume the carrot stew goes well with the curry sauce.

The fish is quite fresh and tender and has a crispy outer layer. The crispy layer seemed to ”soak” up the curry sauce…. shiok! The curry sauce was quite fragrant, not too spicy and rich. The vegetables were crunchy and I must admit they served a generous portion for that. They topped the dish with 2 stalks of ”dou miao”.

Sweet Potato Pie

The dessert of the day was The Sweet Potato Pie. I thought the pie was served warm but it was served chilled instead. It was not very sweet but I couldn’t taste much of the sweet potato. The base was a little too thick though.

To sum it up, The Vines Seafood & Steak Restaurant is one of the restaurant that serves the most resonable set lunch. Even their mains were not too expensive and portions are huge. You wouldn’t burn a hole in your pockets. The food here is generally good and they seemed to be full house almost everyday for lunch and dinner. The service here is friendly and efficent too. I wouldn’t mind coming back again for the other dishes on the extensive menu.
