I was late and getting hungry so i got my friend to help me order something first so i can start eating when i reach. I just requested for salad and half (portion ) kind. We get our queue number from the queue machine in front of the restaurant while waiting patiently for the staff to call us in.

It is an hour away from closing time. Thus, the restaurant atmosphere was quite quiet and cosy. I usually dine in during peak hours and I can hear noises coming from many different tables. It was a perfect moment for us to have a cosy chit chat session.

Here are the choice of dishes we ordered :-

Kara Miso Ramen @S$13.30++
Spicy miso ramen with pork slice served in a big bowl. The serving time is within 10 minutes. The soup broth was thick enough. Although it is called spicy miso ramen, we do not really taste the spiciness. Nevertheless, the overall taste suits Evelyn’s taste bud. She doesn’t feel too greasy or creamy after finishing the whole bowl.

Ishiyaki Steak Don @S$14.30++
Short Ribs rice in sizzling stone pot. Usually dishes served in sizzling stone pot will have slightly longer waiting time. So, if you do not want to wait, you might consider other choices available in the menu. I love the tenderness of the short ribs marinated with the sauce. It is quite juicy and compliments well with the rice served in the stone pot. The stone pot is still in hot temperature when I whipped off the dish.

Hot Ocha were ordered to go with the meal. Service staff was quite prompt re-filling our green tea. Overall, we had a pleasant dining experience.

Total bill was S$32.50 which includes 7% GST & 10% GST.

When it comes to japanese food, Watami is one of my favourite choice and it has a branch at Junction 8 Bishan so it's great to have one that's quite near me! Nice texture for the noodles and broth is nice with a slightly salty flavorful taste.

Don't know why but i was still hungry so i ordered one of my favourite Nankotsu Kushi $5.80. Very tender meat and i love to chew on the soft bones! Very shiok!!

For Sukiyaki lunch rice set, the amount of beef was too less too for the price we pay.

For Udon Nabe & Negitoro set, the amount of chicken meat was too less too for the price we pay too, there was only 3 meats given and the fried rice ball was really awful because it was really bitter as there are many burned area.

I only love the ebi furai because it nicely fried and not too oily.

It's actually pretty weird that I came here for lunch yet I didn't order any mains. Japanese restaurants tend to always have a wide variety of selection that sometimes it's hard to know what you want. It was a lazy afternoon so we decided to get desserts instead. The Chocolate Parfait ($6.80) was incredible. The taste of milk was so amazing it kept me wondering what kind of milk do they use? Would definitely return again for more. Would definitely try out their milk pudding the next time as well

Time for dinner, I had mine at Watami with my ex-colleagues. Countless time I been there, it was comfortable dining area which suitable for all ages. Watami offered an alternative choice to other Japanese restaurants.Ordering hot pot, we even took additional Udon and shared among two persons. Many kinds of vegetables and pork mixed inside the pot, it was champion of Japanese style steamboat. Similar with Sukiyaki flavour, the soup was sweet and refillable. $16.80 for steamboat and $3.80 for Udon

Normal French Fries actually, yet I found it more delicious than other places. Deep fried until adorable yellowish, they were crispy and well-presented by a stainless steel bucket. It priced at $5.80, definitely an expensive fries. Overall, the place was still pleasant to visit, would come again.

The Tokyo Gyudon was very tasty, the meat was tender and great. I especially enjoyed breaking the egg in the middle and watching the runny yolk come out. The atmosphere was good, created the nice Japanese vibes. I also ordered the potato mochi, it was decent and not fantastic. The salmon sashimi was very fresh and beautiful! The salmon was sliced nicely. It is not worth to queue up for even though the food is tasty. Overall, it was average.

Watami offers a good option for friends and family as it has a wide variety of choices. I like my order, black pepper salmon don which was served on a hotplate. Very pleasing and made for a better appetite! The service is good too. The server even came over to stir my food so that the food would not get burnt! My friend and I stayed for a long time, and no one came to tell us that we had overstayed our welcome. Thumbs up!

Pieces of tender and thinly sliced beef soaked in piping hot sweet shabu shabu sauce is just a really good thing to have on a rainy day. Love the shabe shabe here at Watami as the hotpot is filled with different kinds of mushroom, vegetables such as cabbage and the silky tofu. An egg also comes with the hot pot and can be eaten raw with the cooked slices of beef or cooked in the sweet sauce. The soup is really nice as it is sweet.
