Once in a while when my mom wants to take a break from cooking, my family will order the claypot rice from this stall, which is quite popular even among Singaporeans who don't live nearby. The claypot rice is quite fragrant and I love it when there's lot of dark sauce mixed into the rice The chicken pieces inside are also tasty, with 2 different types of sliced lap cheong/Chinese sausages and green vegetables. My only gripe is that the amount of vegetables is measly. They should include more as those types of vegetables are really cheap. Also, some people like it when there are charred bits of rice at the bottom of the claypot but I would prefer if there was less of this and for the rice to be more moist. The stall also sells a variety of soups like watercress soup, old cucumber soup and lotus soup. They all go really well with the claypot rice continue reading

One of the nice great claypot rice i ever eaten , 2 paxs for 10 bucks, their chicken is being marinated before, the claypot rice is very fragrant with the sauce used, a lot of fresh and high quality ingredients used, service is very fast too, i feel that it is addictive, love their chicken a lot. obviously they are very famous in this hawker centre, highly recommended for claypot rice lovers, very nice combination of salted fish, vegs, chicken and sausages, with correct portion of black sauce added. we did not wait long as it is before peak hours on a weekend. continue reading

I usually come to ABC Market after lifesaving training with the other members for dinner/supper! As my friend have been raving about how good this claypot rice stall is, I needed to try it! Also, I can't remember the last time I had claypot rice as I don't usually see it everywhere. I guess the preparation is tedious and time consuming?By the way, the stall owners don't sell it just for one person, they only sell it for a portion of 2 or more. So it's $10 for 2pax, $15 for 3pax etc. Luckily my friend also wanted to have this! We ordered the claypot chicken rice and it came about 10-15 minutes later. When it arrived, I can actually smell the fragrance of the claypot rice. I can't wait to savour it! The chicken meat is very tender and succulent, and it goes well with the soy sauce rice, vegetables and preserved sausage. It is worth the wait! continue reading

This is another famous stall in ABC. My hubby queued for this while I ordered the laksa. Each claypot is only cooked upon order which explains the long waiting time for the claypot. However, it is worth us waiting. The claypot is served pipping hot and as we mixed the rice with the dark soya sauce and all the ingredients, I could smell the very nice aroma which made me want to tuck in immediately. The ingredients include chicken, chinese sausages, salted fish and some green vegetables. The chicken is ver tender and it is very well seasoned. The rice having mixed up with all the juices from the ingredients as well as the dark sauce is also very flavourful. We finished every bit of it, even the crispy parts sticking to the claypot! continue reading

The claypot rice here is pretty good. The dark sauce used is of a relatively good quality. It is not the kind that screams salty nor the ones that are excessively sweet. It is a balanced sauce that mixes well with the marinated chicken chunks and 'lap cheong'. I enjoyed the blend of the salty chicken with the slightly sweet 'lap cheong'. The rice combines well with these ingredients too. However, I don't like the 'burnt' and hard pieces of rice that sticks to the sides of the claypot cos they taste slightly bitter but my husband loves the crunchiness of it. continue reading
