Only worth it if it's one-for-one Cry Jul 24, 2013

Went to TCC for lunch with a colleague to enjoy their GSS member one-for-one deal. I ordered their Fish with Lemongrass Sauce ($23.50++) while my colleague had the Seafood Aglio Olio ($21++).

I was quite disappointed with the quality of the fish. It was quite tough (perhaps overcooked to mask the lack of freshness) and had a strong fishy taste. The fish was also lacking the lemongrass fragrance I was expecting. It would actually be more apt to name this dish as Fish with Cream Sauce. The sides, consisting of baby potatoes and asparagus, were pretty average as well. The pasta fared much better in terms of taste and quality though the freshness of the ingredients could be further improved.

Will probably give their mains a miss the next time round and stick to the desserts!

Just stick to their subs... Cry Jul 20, 2013

We've been eyeing Subway's flatbread advertisement for some time and finally decided to give it a try! Boy, were we totally disappointed with the taste and quality!

Ham & Egg Flatbread Meal ($4.50)

The flatbread was tough and tasteless, with small portions of ham and egg that was totally not worth the money. The sandwich artist didn't even offer us any veg! sad

Hash browns were too salty as well.

Not Worth the Hype (as usual) Cry Jul 07, 2013

Categories : Korean | Fast Food | Halal | Korean Fried Chicken

We had Green Onion Tender Meal for takeaway ($10.30) which included coleslaw, pickled radish, rice and coke.

The chicken was average as we found it too dry and a little tough. Flavour-wise, it was still quite tasty and made up for the lack of texture.

The portion was alright for one pax although we were anticipating a bigger portion for that price.

Overall, the quality of food was not really worth the price and wait (we had to wait for almost 15 mins for fast food quality).

Disappointed visit Cry Jun 08, 2013

After hearing much raving reviews about the food and authentic Korean dining experience Kim’s Family restaurant offers, we finally decided it’s time to pen down our own experience and visited them for dinner last Friday.

Alas, we were left yet again disappointed by a restaurant which had garnered a rather good reputation among food reviewers…

As we had only ordered one Beef Bulgogi Set ($12++) to share, we were shocked to find out that we could only selected 6 side dishes and it’s non-refillable! When queried, the waitress coldly answered “cos you all only order one set…”, simply unbelievable level of service for a Korean Family restaurant that is renowned for their hospitality!

The side dishes were average and served in pathetic portions, a far cry from many other Korean restaurants we had visited (and mind you, we ordered one portion of main dish at other restaurants as well and were warmly served with all the side dishes – refillable).

The beef bulgogi set was nothing much to shout about as well. It was well marinated, no doubt, but tasted pretty similar to what other restaurants serve.

First and Last Time... Cry Jun 05, 2013

Categories : Seafood

We had earlier purchased some Groupon vouchers for redemption at Naked Fish and were full of anticipation after hearing pretty good reviews about them.

However, we were thoroughly disappointed with their service level as well as quality of food. Their service was slow and servers, inattentive. The waiter who was serving us even argued with us callously due to some sticky terms and conditions of the voucher usage. This was simply ridiculous and unacceptable!

Food wise, the ingredients used were not very fresh in general.

Grilled Barramundi ($14.50++)
The Barramundi was slightly overcooked, resulting in the texture being rather dry and flaky.

Grilled Trout ($15.00++)
The Trout had a strong fishy-taste and as with the Barramundi, slightly overcooked as well. Not recommended.

Grilled Dory Fillet ($9.50++)
The Dory was the best among the dishes we ordered that dinner. The meat was soft and juicy, with a hint of buttery fragrance.

Ribeye Steak ($16.50++)
The Ribeye Steak was pretty mediocre, something within expectation since their specialty lies in all things under the sea and not on land.

Overall, it was a disappointing meal; probably our first and the last visit…
