I've tried getting my friends to accompany me to try out this place but they balked at the prices shown on the menu, (I think $7 and upwards) especially since it felt like paying a premium price for only fruits, which they are not going to eat solely for lunch. Well, it seems a huge variety of premium fruits are really offered and of course these ain't cheap to get in Singapore. Unfortunately, it's hard to convince us poor folks (I don't have many rich friends) to fork out such an amount for a fruit lunch.
Thankfully, I spotted a recent promotion which offers a choice of either olive zucchini lasagna or spaghetti meatball with an alkaline infused drink for $9.90 instead of the usual $13.90. Now, this has some semblance of a meal, so I finally managed to convince someone to try it with me. Yeah!
By the way, it's all raw, vegetarian food with no flour as well, so do not expect the usual lasagna or spaghetti/meatball.
If I'm not mistaken, it should be mostly vegan food offered. Well, I'm generally a healthy-eating kind of person so I was all game to try my first vegan meal here.
The spaghetti meatball was sold out, so I had the olive zucchini lasagna with a glass of rose infused alkaline water.
We had to wait a while since our order was made fresh, but that's a good start. I was a bit disappointed though when my olive zucchini lasagna arrived. It looked bigger and nicer for their promo picture. I was kinda worried if it was actually enough for me (definitely not enough for my male friend). I've not tasted raw zucchini slices before, but I think it was alright, a bit like a dryer version of a large raw cucumber slice. These slices pose as the "lasagna pasta layers". I felt that there was too much salt sprinkled on the top of the slices, although it was Himalayan salt that was used. Olive oil and some herbs were drizzled onto the slices too. Within the slices, there were dehydrated mushrooms, basil leaves, and sun dried tomatoes akin to the tomato-based pasta sauce we get in regular lasagnas. What looked like cheese inside was actually made from crushed pine nuts and macadamia which tasted pretty good. Only gripe is that due to the sun dried tomatoes, which are usually strong in taste, the lasagna tasted too salty overall. Other than that, the ingredients used were fresh and generally the dish itself is ok for a first-timer like me. After I finished my meal, I felt like I was 60-70% full, which is actually fine if you are on a diet.
The rose-infused alkaline water purportedly helps vital energy regulation, improves blood circulation, promotes clearer skin and improves bladder function. I did not like the rose flavor actually. My companion says it reminded him of soft soap. Perhaps I should try another flavor another time. Since the drink is supposedly good for me, I did manage to finish it albeit with some difficulty. Am I just not used to the drink? Hmmmm....
Well, if you are into healthy eating, I guess you can give this place a try. Personally, I might try their spaghetti meatball on another visit and choice of another alkaline infused water when I wanna go for another healthy meal. Or perhaps their fruit entrees.
