Really nice soursop juice Smile Sep 20, 2013

It's the first time that I've seen a fruit juice stall specialising in soursop juice. My hubby highly recommended this stall to me (and he doesn't even like soursop that much) so I had to try it when I was here. I got the ice-blended soursop drink ($2.50). The balance of sweet and sour was just right and the drink was very refreshing. You can tell that quite a fair amount of actual soursop was used to make the drink and not too much syrup was added. An excellent drink to accompany the good food at this food centre smile

Pretty good Gelato Smile Sep 20, 2013

The multi-coloured selection of gelato here look really good. I ordered 2 flavours, dark truffle chocolate and the forest berries ($7.70). The chocolate was smooth, velvety and not too sweet - nice! The forest berries was also refreshing, the mix of sour and sweet well-balanced. The service here leaves much to be desired though. The staff had a really grumpy face when I requested to taste these 2 flavours first. When taking the order, she was also very gruff about it.

Good Popiah Smile Sep 20, 2013
Categories : Peranakan / Nonya | Hawker Centre

My hubby told me his friend highly recommends the kueh pie ti here. As I've just had a late dinner here, I only decided to order one popiah to try. Well, if the filling is good, it's likely that both the kueh pie ti and popiah will be nice right?

I was not too happy when the stall owner handed me a pre-wrapped popiah which she seemed to have packed away already. She took the popiah out from a bag that's meant for takeaway. Oh well, I didn't want to kick up a fuss and just accepted it. Perhaps that's the last of her popiah so she wrapped it up for takeaways first.

Thankfully, the filling was still slightly warm - piping hot would be even better. The popiah skin was soft and thin and was not soggy. The ingredients within was well-balanced between the radish, peanuts and lettuce. There was even very finely sliced cucumber within which enhanced the taste. Really pretty good popiah I'll say.

Definitely will come back at an earlier time so that I can truly savor a hot piping popiah and the kueh pie ti.

Popiah - $1.40

Hor Fun is still ok OK Sep 20, 2013
Categories : Hawker Centre | Zi Char

Decided to give this stall a second chance (previously, the fried bee hoon here was too salty) and ordered the hor fun to try. I asked for no seafood, so I was given more pork slices. This time round, the dish was not salty and the sauce was not bad. The pork slices were also quite tender and amount of vegetables given was generous. At least it's up to a general expectation for a zi-char stall. Still, nothing spectacularly good about this dish, but it'll do if you are not too finicky for your zi-char fix.

Hor Fun - $3.50

Delicious braised duck rice Smile Sep 20, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Singaporean Chinese | Hawker Centre

For a mere $3, you can get a duck rice set comprising a generous amount of braised duck, half a braised egg, some tau kwa and braised peanuts.

The duck meat is tender and not fatty. The tau kwa and egg are also well-braised. The sauce covering the rice (cooked to a nice consistency) is tasty as well. I also like that the soup they give is piping hot and tasty with herbs used in it. A very satisfactory meal indeed.

I came here early for dinner, so I avoided any queue. Usually there's always one during the busy lunch hour.
