Awesome Desserts Smile Dec 23, 2012

Oh my Gosh! Desserts, desserts and desserts! Opps, it's reasonably priced and great desserts!!

Located in the Malaysian Food Street, Sentosa, the environment is awesome! You get to enjoy other Malaysian food as well.

Here are some photos taken using my phone to keep you drooling for a while shocked Sorry for the low quality! i am a bit lazy to find from my camera :s
Chendol

Chendol

Look at the Chendol... the portion is enough for 2 lovers! Sweet and smell good!

My favourite! Black Glutinous Rice. lol taste better than the Koufu's dessert stall.

Ice Kacang!! There's my favourite Yam ice cream on top! The red bean is not to my liking but acceptable. haha they were too large! Red Bean King!

They cost about $2.50 per bowl and it is quite reasonable compared to other food court and to think of it, it is in Sentosa! Didn't you think the price could have been doubled? Nope! in fact they may be cheaper ( and taste a lot better ) than other dessert stalls. When you have $2.50 and you are thinking of buying a cup of bubble tea, think again, perhaps you should try this stall's dessert!

Oh well, these are fattening but since you are in Sentosa, this is a must try! Walk around Sentosa helps to burn all those calories away so no worries!! lol

Enjoy the great food then exercise more to stay healthy! Haha!

Till next time! smile Merry Christmas everyone!

First time to find this place.
The first thing that came to my mind when i heard this restaurant name, Strictly Pancake, just pancakes, pancakes and a lot of pancakes!

I went with 2 of my good friends and it was their recommendation. A walking distance away from Dhoby Ghaut MRT and it was a cloudy morning. It is a two storey small restaurant. I always like the feelings but it was kind of disappointing when i entered the restaurant. The furniture is not new anymore and stains can be seen on the cloth-wrapped chairs and sofas.

The business was good from the morning. We sat down in the corner most sofas and we spent sometime taking photos of our own here and there and finally order pancakes for breakfast. The waitress recommended us a middle stack pancake (3 pieces just nice for 3 of us) and it costs $7. There are 3 flavours to choose from. 2 of them that i remembered is Herb spice and Rum and Raisin. We tried the Herb spice with Butter. Honey was provided too.

Here is an image of how it is looked like:

The Pancake tastes good, soft and fluffy! It is larger than Mcdonald's pancake. But i don't think there is much difference between them in term of taste. Perhaps it is the flavour that makes it different. One pancake per person is not really enough. The next time i go there, i will at least eat 2 slices. However, considering the price, venue and environment, may be i will compromise and just eat Big Breakfast from McDonald.

But no harm trying it! smile But the lunch set is quite expensive and i didn't stay till lunch. Perhaps, the next time!

The Flavour of My Mom's Laksa Smile Dec 23, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Singaporean Chinese | Noodles

mad I couldn't eat spicy things since young until now. But there is one dish that is supposed to be spicy but still my favourite - Laksa! To be exact, it's my mom's Laksa. It is not so spicy but with a stronger smell of the coconut milk compared to the Laksa spice.

I have tried many Laksa from many food stalls before, ranging from Penang's sour Laksa to my school canteen Laksa which have just some normal taste. And recently, I tried the famous and original 328 Katong Laksa.

The Laksa that can be eaten without chopsticks, simply with a spoon. The first thought that came to my mind when i tried the laksa was, i finally found someone who could cook Laksa as good as my mom! hahaha! ( yeah, next time i should include a photo of my mom's laksa tongue ) The portion was large during our visit, according to my aunt. Wondering why! Perhaps i'm just lucky or did i snap too many photos here and there and they knew I am going to write this review? Haha. There are some seafood in the Laksa soup and all of them taste great. You can add in more chilis if you want! But for me, the Laksa taste just nice.

Here are some photos on the Laksa:

The next one is the Otah-otah! Also, it is to my liking because it is not as spicy as i thought. to be frank, i never like Otah-otah before. But this Otah-otah that i had at 328 Katong Laksa is really different from what i imagined. Taste not bad!
Here's the image. I have taken a video on how to open an Otah-otah but i couldn't upload the video. Don't know why sad

The next dish that i like is the Rojak! The pineapple used weren't sour but sweet! Couldn't describe more than " the rojak just tastes good!" Here's an image:

Although the environment is not as pleasant as any restaurants but it is a corner that you rarely find in most of the places in Singapore. The authentic road side stall feeling is still there. Haha, just bear with it for the sake of good food!! smile

Awesome Lunch Smile Dec 19, 2012

Categories : American | Restaurant | Steaks and Grills

bowl It was my first time trying The Cafe Cartel! I have been wanted to try because its store front looks good. And it just sounds good.

There are 6 of us and it was 12 noon. There was no waiting crowd and therefore the waitress could serve us quite promptly.

There are set lunch and luxe sets so we ordered 2 set lunch and 2 luxe sets. The prices are reasonable and the photos on the menu look good.
We ordered Monday Set Lunch
A – Crispy Sesame-seeded fish fillet and chicken sausage with tartar sauce
B – Pan fried spicy clams and bacon spaghetti
Price: $9.50 NETT
The set lunch is different for each day, with Set A – chicken and Set B – spaghetti.
All comes with a drink, soup of the day and garlic bread. We ordered peach tea and the soup of the day was the creamy mushroom soup.

We also ordered the Luxe set as follow:
Chicken Mixed Grill with Pepper Sauce
Grilled Pork Chops with mushroom Sauce

Ok, let me review on each dish as below:
Ginger bread

Ginger bread

The garlic bread basically tastes like garlic bread. Haha! It was served warmly and still crispy. Taste good when dip in mushroom soup!
mushroom soup

The mushroom soup is so creamy and I love it! The taste is just there and I simply love it. There is beautiful design on the soup when served.
peach tea

The peach tea is better than the canned drinks.
Crispy fish fillet

Crispy fish fillet

The fish fillet was acceptable and the portion was OK.
pan-fried spicy clams and bacons spagetti

pan-fried spicy clams and bacons spagetti

Oh I like the spaghetti! I like salty food and the spaghetti is just nice. There are quite a lot of salty bacons and a few clams. The clams are nicely spiced so the smell of the seafood wasn’t that strong.
Chicken Mixed grill

Chicken Mixed grill

The sausages are normal and the grill chicken chop is super small. It tasted overly grilled to me.
grilled pork chops

grilled pork chops

The pork chop is very tender so I like it. But the vegetables tastes are mixed up so they tasted a bit weird.

You can also add $1 for single scoop ice cream sundae.
Point to note: There is no further discount for any set lunch or luxe set!

Overall the experience was good! lol I will definitely come back again!

Festive Promotion Smile Dec 11, 2012
Categories : Italian | Pasta | Halal

Christmas is coming to town and here is the deal by Pastamania. S$17.90 for a pasta, an appetizer and a drink.
A normal pasta cost around $5 to $10 plus, appetizer $ 3 plus to $5 and drink $3 plus to $5 too. So i think it's quite worth it if you choose the right dishes ;)

I ordered a Honey Garlic Chicken (normal price $4.90) (appetizer), Creamy Turkey with Parmesan Cheese (not in main menu) ( pasta), Cookies and Cream Freeze (normal price $5.70) (drink) and a Strawberry Dessert Pizza at $4.80.

They arrive ~10 minutes after ordering at the counter. The portion of the dishes looks reasonable. And i admit that the food looks very tempting! The Honey Garlic Chicken tasted so good! I like the freeze too. Creamy Turkey with Parmesan Cheese was OK because i would prefer saltier food :x. My first time trying its dessert and i think Strawberry Dessert Pizza was awesome!

The ambience was OK and the space is a bit squeezy.

Overall, i think PastaMania has improved a lot over the years. I hope there will be more promotions!

P.s: there won't be anymore discount for members for this promotion sad
