Saucy Oyster Egg Smile Jul 10, 2011
Categories : Hawker Centre | Noodles

This stall has been there for years, the stall signboard has changed from $2 to $2.50! That was so interesting! smile

Although the signboard focuses on the fried rice, the dish I would like to recommend is the unique oyster egg. The uniqueness of the oyster egg is the "eggy oysters" sauce on top of the omelette.

With a tinge of spiciness and a heavenly taste of fresh oysters melting in your mouth with every bite, it's not surprising that it's gone within seconds! So, a word of advice - do not share with more than 2 persons! tongue

Simple Mee Siam Smile Jul 10, 2011

Mee Siam

Mee Siam

It's a bowl of simple mee siam, with the normal and simple ingredients such as beehoon, beansprouts, egg and tau pok. However, once you had tasted it, you will definitely be hooked on it.

The sauce is so appetizing and you will continue to eat and eat and by the time you realised, you would have finished the whole bowl. Mum described this mee siam gravy as the tradtional taste that she had tasted in the past. Although I do not know the taste of the olden times, I love the gravy very much. The gravy was full of flavour and I believe the stall owner must have added alot of strong ingredients to get that kind of taste.

I will definitely bring mum back for more. smile

Terrific Tiramisu Smile Jul 08, 2011
Categories : Bakery | Hotel | Desserts and Cakes

I have always been having strawberry shortcake for my birthday cake, as I love the light and fluffy vanilla sponge cake, creamy vanilla cream and fresh strawberries that strawberry shortcake will have. I thought this year I would be on the search for my strawberry shortcake again, but my hubby bought me a Tiramisu cake!

After the Lion King show at MBS, he turned up with a Sweet Spot cake box and told me it’s a Tiramisu cake. I was thinking, “How nice could it be… why is it not a strawberry shortcake?”

After having the Tiramisu cake, it really changed my mind. It is comparable to my love for strawberry shortcake. Sweet Spot Tiramisu cake is indeed appetizing and scrumptious! The taste was not over-whelming and it fits my love of light and fluffy cake... and this comes with the velvety light cream and cocoa powder dust.

I simply love it... now my next target - Tiramisu cake! tongue

Soup that can be the main course Smile Jul 07, 2011

The Soup Spoon has been here for years but it was only till this year I had meals there. We wanted something light before our movie, hence my brother suggested this. We thought it was a good idea since I had not tasted the dishes before.

I wanted to just share my set meal of soup - Simon and Garfunkel Chicken and Mushroom Ragout, a banana muffin and iced lemon tea with my hubby. However, he was so tempted with the Pot pie and he ended ordering another Velvety Mushroom Stroganoff soup. I love the simon soup very much! It was so creamy and tasty and I love the chicken chunks in the soup. As for the mushroom soup, it was really full of mushrooms and I find it too creamy for me to finish one bowl of that on my own, but I can finish one bowl of that simon soup though. ;)

The iced lemon tea was refreshing and has that kind of homemade tea with fresh lemon. I like it. The wrap and Spicy Herby Cheesy Wedges were also great and filling to the stomach.

We laughed at ourselves for saying we wanted to eat light! This meal had made us realize that soups can be very filling and delicious and they can be eaten as main courses as well. I was even thinking to myself that next time I can even buy the pre-packed soup and warm it up as meals at home.

Egg Pancakes Smile Jul 06, 2011
Categories : Coffeeshop

The name of the dish sounds so interesting to me... Is it something like hotcakes from McDonalds', or is it like roti prata with egg... That's what was in my mind when my Mum-in-law first told me about these egg pancakes.

When I get to the stall, I finally realised... oh... its like those pancake we have at pasar malam (street night market)... normally its either with peanut or coconut.... hence, I was so surprised to see the many choices of fillings... you can have chicken floss, carrot, hotdog, ham and cheese etc.

I still remember I chosed number 7 from the menu list - egg pancake with hotdog and cheese. I remembered that well because I had to get my choosy-eater nephew to repeat the number after me, so that he can tell his mum to buy for him the next time. He loves this combination as well. lol

I stood there and saw the process of the making of these pancakes. First, the seller poured the flour mixture on the pan, then she cracked a egg over it and stirred the egg on the mixture, then she put the hotdogs over and when it was about to be served, she placed the cheese over. And here it came... my number 7 pancake! It was great! I love them very much.tongue
