Divine Royalty cake Smile Nov 11, 2011

Being a member of the TCC, I frequently received their new promotions through e-mails and they never failed to surprise me. It could be their update on promotion of their exquisite high tea set or their innovative dishes that complements with the festive season (i.e. during Halloween, they came up with a drink that comes with spooky eyeballs!)

I've been visiting the TCC for their coffee, main courses and have also tried their cheesecakes before. However, when my colleague brought in this cake to the office from the TCC, everyone was pretty amazed by it due to its striking violet color. We started guessing what flavor it is and how nice it looks. Some guessed it was dragon fruit, others thought it was blueberry. Even after tasting it, nobody can give a definite answer. It was only after researching on the TCC's website that we found out the answer.

This cake was called Royal Cassis for violet is the colour of royalty and cassis is actually a European black currant that was used mainly to make CRÈME DE CASSIS liqueur and black currant syrup. That explains the sour taste to it. With the sweet white chocolate mousse cake
and the sour cassis topping, this cake is perfect and refreshing for something different. Try it for a royalty feel.

Smooth century egg porridge Smile Nov 08, 2011

When I want something simple and cheap, century egg porridge would come to my mind. Well-loved for its excellent texture, the smooth porridge is a delight to my taste buds. There is no need to add any more soy sauce or pepper as it's already flavorful as it is. It would be even more perfect if there is fried dough stick to go along with.

Halloween Rock Candy Smile Oct 31, 2011

Our Company holds a party in celebration of Halloween on the 31st Oct 2011 and every staff were given a packet of candy by Sticky! It's not any ordinary candies as this is hand-made with specific designs to suit the occasion. Since it's for Halloween, the candy pictures are related to this festival with pictures of ghost, bat, trick or treat on it. Their craftsmanship is great to be able to add in wordings and cartoons on such a small piece of candy. The candy is sweet and nice. I got to taste many different flavors and they are colorful too. It would make a perfect gift too.

Located in the buzzling Clementi Food centre is this stall called Soon Lee selling Hainanese Porridge. Their porridge is a comfort food for me. For $2.50 (including egg inside) it's really tasty and value for money. They do not practice self-service as their porridge is all cooked on the spot upon order so required some waiting time. I waited for about 30 minutes before it was served to me, piping hot. The rice is boiled till disintegrated yet retaining the grainy texture. So it's not exactly the smooth type of porridge. Their pork meats are fresh and savoury which is also another factor why it attracts the crowds.

I must say that Soon Lee porridge is my choice of food when I felt that I have eaten too much oily food or during cold weather.

Attended my friend's wedding dinner at Peony Jade Restaurant. As I don't frequent clark quay that much, had a hard time finding the place. It was actually located on the second storey of the shop houses. I love the whole ambiance of this place. Tables are not too far apart and the lights are not too strong creating a very cozy feeling.

The 8 dishes are wonderful. Almost every dishes were wiped up and there's no wastage of food. The chef also put in a great deal of effort to make the fishes looks nice and presentable. For example the cold dish, the middle part was beautifully sculptured. The King Prawn dish is another example. Looks at the mini decorative on the spoon by the side. So wonderfully crafted. The dish itself is special as I usually had cereal prawn but this time round, the prawn is coated with egg yolk!

It's a great place with nice food. Can consider holding a wedding here next time too!
