late night snack Smile Jan 25, 2013

I dropped by Breadtalk to get some sponge cakes since I am going to work late tonight. The prices for most of the breads/cakes in Breadtalk have increased since my last visit. As this is the only bakery nearby, I decided to just buy from here, though I felt the price increase is not really justified. I got the steamed cakes, the orange and green tea flavour. I love the orange flavoured cake as it has a tangy taste and it tasted really refreshing and fruity. The green tea cake is also good with the flavour of green tea being quite apparant.

unexpected find Smile Jan 25, 2013

This is a pleasant surprise for me to find that or rather to know that Ichiban Sushi sells mochi and this custard puff roll. I was buying my takeaway sushi when I spotted them and of course I had to take them as well. They taste so good, I just had to review it, although my original purpose was to buy sushi!

The mochi is really soft and the green filling is quite substantial and sweet as well. If you chill it a little before eating it, the taste gets even better. For the custard roll, it is crisp and the custard is also creamy and not too heavy. The exterior roll is like the puff pastry, so it is like eating custard puff in a roll form which is simply a delight! Besides custard, there is chocolate filling as well for chocoholics.

Chi Ni Dou Fu Smile Jan 24, 2013

Chi Ni Dou Fu stall name is really catchy, which made me buy from them. I had their original beancurd pudding which is $1.50 per bowl.

There is also the almond flavoured and fruity flavoured beancurd puddings, but I always want to try the original as a measure of its standard. In my opinion, I think it is quite good. The soya bean flavour is there and the pudding just melts in your mouth. The sweetness level is alright as well. Now I am itching to try out their other fruity flavours! If I am not wrong, the fruity flavours are sold at $2.50.

economic rice Smile Jan 24, 2013

I went to this coffee shop for my lunch and decided to order a plate of economic rice from the mixed rice stall. Since the coffee shop was quite crowded, I ordered a takeway instead. The varieties of dishes left are not a lot since I went late, and I simply settled for egg tofu, steamed minced meat and dried beancurd skin. The dried beancurd skin is surprisingly tasty even though it looks really plain. It is soft and yet still a little chewy. The steamed minced meat is quite saltish though, so I will probably not order this dish next time.

seafood hor fun  Smile Jan 24, 2013

I thought of having something hot and slurpy so I went for the seafood hor fun from this stall. The waiting time as rather fast as I came early and in no time, the stall helper handed me my packet of hor fun. It smelt really nice and it tasted as good as it smells. The ingredients given are quite a lot and more importantly, they are fresh. In addition, the main dish, the hor fun is smooth and the gravy is not too starchy or saltish. It is one of the better hor funs that I had.
