Coffee bean and tea leaf bistro OK Apr 17, 2015
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : American

Hello foodies ! Some familiar brand, yet not familiar food in the store. In the MBS outlet, there are some main dishes, which include squid ink pasta ! Let's go !

I ate squid ink pasta (about $26++) for the second time, and I have to say that this is rather a little disappointing, as I would expect the squid ink taste to be a little stronger, rather than having quite a sweet pasta flavour which is caused by the cherry tomatoes, but I still finish it all. LOL. As its the most expensive pasta in the shop, apparently squid ink are expensive.

Usually in western restaurant, steak is the most common dish to order. For Coffee bean, their steaks are about $20? Which is about the price of Hot Tomato. Their steaks are quite alright, just a little to old as their meat is not really juicy, and usually I would recommend "well done" instead of "medium rare" as it will taste better, somehow.

Lastly, what my family ordered, and the lobster linguine might be the most worth it one ! Cause its real good, and no its not truffles fries but normal fries. hahahs !
Supplementary Information:
The fountain in front of Coffee Bean will be switched on at 8pm till 815 ! Also, due to the crowd, there are a lot of people ! So be patient, you need to wait to eat.

Hola ! Been long since I touch my openrice website, so here is an cafe post ! It's the windowsill pie !

It's walkable distance from farrer park mrt stn, but please do not trust your GSP. I almost died from walking under the heat ! It's near the tiramisu hero, if u even know where is it. But I alive back when stepping into the cozy zone with great service :}

And calling windowsill pies, of course there's window and pies ! Also, there is tea leaf for us to smell the tea ! Loveeeee them soo much ! Oh, they will serve free waterrr~ Not budget, but so great after that "mini workout" to there ! hahahas

Our pretty muscato blanc tea with the two pies; lemon raspberry and chocolate mint if i'm not wrong.

Really in love with the chocolate mint and the lemon raspberry is really quite sour~~~ But the ambiance is really great and the stuffs are so friendly, offer to help us snap pictures ! hahaahs ! Our hightea cost about $24, if I'm not wrong~ I'm consisted quite affordable, also they offer brunch ! But we are too full to have it, perhaps next time.
Rate: 3.5/5, because I really love the cozy environment

Supplementary Information:
You are able to smell those tea leafs before ordering them ! And it's totally worth an Instagram shot !

Wan He Lou is Cantonese restaurant that serve you merely great food, but also cozy vintage Chinese restaurant feeling and great friendly service. And you know what is the best part?..... IT'S GST AND SERVICE CHARGE FREEEEEE !!!! NO, THIS IS NOT COFFEE SHOP NOR HAWKER CENTER, even hawker center also have GST charges included. THIS IS A GRAND CHINESE RESTAURANT ! Can you see your pocket being a little fatter while eating more?!

I really love the setting inside the restaurant, even it's a little plan, but those big lantern lights just makes you feel comfortable, together with the mini small picture frames of their dishes.

Not to be missed Ala Carte Items:

If you know Wan He Lou, You would know their Signature Lobster Porridge, there is more than one lobster swimming inside the Lobster Porridge, and as mention that Wan He Lou is a Cantonese restaurant which means that their porridge is the rice + soup, and not congee.

Personally, I love congee, but I think that porridge also have their tasty side. Like this lobster porridge, where the rice could absorb the sweetness of the pumpkin soup, also the pumpkin soup isn't too thick of the pumpkin taste, it's more like suitable for the whole family, where the taste of even out and not mid nor robust.

Also, to prevent overcooked lobster, be sure to take it out from the soup first !

Signature Lobster Porridge - $29.90

The Robust Flavours:

If your taste buds prefer something more impact-ful, something more strong tasting, then these two dishes would be towards your liking.

1. Crispy Lotus

Personally I feel that if you love robust flavour, you would definitely love this dish ! It's kind of taste like the salted egg prawn, but instead of prawn, it's fried lotus ! Lotus gives a freshening taste while salted egg give out the salty taste, and when both come together, it mixed pretty well, even better than with the prawn !

However, after you keep eating it, you would sure want to order some water. As the strong taste will choked your throat and your mouth + throat will feel uncomfortable, with the leftover taste of this dish.

Crispy Lotus with Salted Egg - $11.90

2. Pan Fried Kurobuta Pork:

This is my favorite dish ! The Pan Fried Kurobuta Pork is different from the usual pork you eat in the supermarket or other places. This meat is soooo much tender and with every bite, you can feel the layering texture of the meat. Together with the strong tasting gravy that allow you to feel both the strong, salty and thick gravy sauce with the tender and soft meat. Sounds like a perfect match uh ! Oh, the meat is still soft and tender, with a little crispy at the side of the meat, as it's pan fried !

Pan Fried Kurobuta Pork - $14.90

Triple O's @ ochard tower Smile Dec 06, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Fast Food | Burgers and Sandwiches

Hate it when Singapore's night food life only revolve around pubs, mac and only starbucks? And when you and your friends waned to go grab a bite in the wee hour, and you will be like, " huh, mac again?!"

Fear not, Triple O's is here to save your hungry tummy in those wee hours!

Something that you might want to know about triple O's: They are a Canadian burger restaurant that has 3 outlets in Singapore, including the one in Orchard Tower and their target are people like US ! People who are late night shoppers or lepak (hang out) at night, who are also looking for quality late night supper food !

And they open till 5am daily !

Side dishes:

No doubts that the side dishes are like equal yummy as the burgers. We get to try the the sweet potato fries ( my favourite all times), onion rings (also my favorite !!) and chicken strips which is their specialties !

I really have a long term relationship with sweet potato fries and onion rings !! Their sweet potato fries is soooo much better than shi lin ! As their has thick layer of sweet potato and with a bite of it, you can still eat the fresh sweet taste of the sweet potato !

Their onion rings isn't losing out to the one in BK ! In Triple O's you still can taste and see the fresh onion that is hidden inside the crispy golden outlook of it ! It kinda weird to see the onion, however it doesn't have the strong onion taste and it will dissolve with the whole onion ring !

The chicken strips are like the best strips I ate ! It has a special sauce to it and it taste super delicious, not dry and crispy !!

Sweet potato fries, onion rings, chicken strips- $2.90 , $2,90, $8,90.

Something that everyone will order while eating fast food.
The fries !! Canadians like poutine, which is the fatter fries, unlike those in mac, the taste of potato is so much richer. And actually I doesn't like poutine, especially those you get from NTUC, because the potato inside the fries will taste horrible, as there is so little potato inside the fries, it is not "balance" and taste the little pieces of the potato. If you get me.

However in Triple O's there will NOT have those issue as the fries are like rich of the potato and there would be the taste of air inside the fries. Plus plus plus, there gravy and the cheese is like the perfect match with the pout !

Poutine - $2.90

Burgers

It always curious me when people say the juicy of the patty just ooze out with a bite, and I'm like aren't patties dry? But Triple O's just prove me wrong ! With just a bite, I can feel that the juicy of the burger ooze out, and it's not the oil but the taste of the beef is overwhelming and fresh to extend where you will continue your bite.

Also, the beef isn't hard to bite, but tender and melt in your mouth when you start to chew ! The best part is that it has bacon and cheese in it ! YES BACON ! And the bacon isn't hard like stone but crispy And it is the perfect match with the beef !

Lastly, it is big ass big ! This is just half of the burger and I feel that I'm having problem finishing it ! Oh my, perhaps it is due to the large appetite of the Canadians ! And the best part is that the burgers are as big and looks as yummy as those in the website ! *meme: yes, not cheated*

Bacon cheese burger- $12.90

If you can't take beef, fear not, there is always chicken and fish, I didn't get to try the fish one, but there is also awesome reviews about it !

For the chicken burger, the taste isn't as rich as the beef, which might suit some people's taste buds ! Also, can u see that oh-my-god thick chicken patty ?! This burger is mostly based on the taste of the chicken patty, and I can just say that it's awesome, as it is tender plus juicy !

Chicken supreme- $9.90

Oh did I mention that they actually do provide deliver too ! So instead of you leaving your comfortable sofa, you can order and have it in your place. HURRAY !

Rating: 4.5/5
Their service are excellent, so as their food, but I'm not loving the french breakfast meal, but overall is almost perfect. Even the price of their burger might be a little costly, but they have awesome good environment and no service charge. Everything is nett price !

Ambush @ JEM Smile Oct 26, 2013
Categories : European | Pasta | Paella

Who says that you have to fly all the way to Europe to get the taste? Singapore being a multi-racial country, we are fortunate to have restaurants like Ambush who provide Europe cuisine to stop the torture of 16 or more hours of flight, and for people like me who haven’t been to Europe before!

To say getting a little taste of Europe, I would say, getting a little taste of almost every parts of Europe. They only use the freshest ingredients, choose from tantalizing, mussels from Belgium, scrumptious paella from Spain, juicy sausages from Germany and delectable pasta from Italy!

So heading in to one restaurant, Ambush, your taste buds have already traveled around Europe before you do!

Beverage:
I ordered Shirley’s temple- fizzy mocktail and punch. It really refreshing and the taste of cherry aren't lacking. Always, I ordered blue coral but I think it has replace that favorite fizzy mocktail of mine! As, it really taste refreshing even without mint, and it isn’t really sweet with that soda taste! It has a little sweet and sour taste which makes you crave for more when you start drinking a slip of it.

Shirley's Temple- $5.90

Oktoberfest!
Oktoberfest is the world’s largest fair held annually in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. It is a 16-day festival running from late September to the first weekend in October with more than 6 million people from around the world attending the event every year. To the locals, it is not called Oktoberfest, but die Wies’n, after the colloquial name of the fairgrounds themselves.

In Germany, sausages are a MUST ! Even their vending machine have Sausages ! WHY SINGAPORE NO HAVE?!?!?!?

Anyway, their sausages are FREAKING delicious please, how I wish I could eat it like NOW ! Heehee. The sausages are really fat and when you bite, it has the split open feeling. *ahem* I eat like a lady okay. And this dish is Berlin's star pan seared bratwurst (a typical type of sausage found in Germany) which is perfectly matched with the brown sauce

Currywrust - $16.50

I'm not someone who really enjoy eating chicken breast meat as they are usually dry and hard, but in Ambush, it's totally different. I enjoyed eating the chicken Gordon bleu as they add the cheese and ham inside the chicken breast which allow it to be more flavoured + it isn't so stiff after the stir frying ! Together with the sauce of mushroom cream sauce and having strong tasting mashed potatoes. Oh, there are three dishes that has mashed potatoes and all taste differently !

Chicken Gordon Bleu - $18.50

Squid Ink pasta are always something that people are not willing to give it a try, simply because it's totally black. And looks are of course important. However, you will be totally surprise by its taste and what people always say 'do not judge a book by its cover'. This fit perfectly for the squid Ink spaghetti ! Squid link sauce actually make the pasta taste a little sweet together with the clams. And actually the pasta isn't as oily as it seen in the picture, it's the squid ink sauce which give that oily look. But nevertheless, it's delicious and teeth staining ! Hahaha ! Not a first date dish man ladies !

Baby Scallop and Flying Fish Roe with Squid Ink Sauce (S$14.80)

THIS IS MY FAVOURITE !!!!!
Hahahas, yes, I go gaga whenever I saw this dish !! A roasted garlic and herb rubbed chicken legs that has a thin layer of cripy skin with that thick tender meat ! And I'm not kidding when I said thick ! Even thought there is garlic, but the taste of the chicken is full of the fresh herb and the creamy mushroom sauce ! OMO, I FEEL HUNGRY NOW. LOL

Desserts:

Apple crisp is like the favourite among all those chocolaty desserts ! It has whipped cream, ice cream and of course the apple crisp. And perhaps is because all are chocolate desserts while this is stand out for all those dishes.

The apple crisp is like a pie, having thin crust at the side, while apple in the middle. And trust me, the apple are like real apple, while add on the crisp-ness in the pie. Also, with those sweet caramel :> Nom nom
