Salmon Salad Smile Nov 10, 2013
Categories : English | Burgers and Sandwiches

There was a new coffee cafe at Sommerset 313 and it was quite popular with shoppers.

I had decided to have a healthy snack during tea time during the weekday.

I ordered this Salmon Salad.

The salmon salad used smoked salmon. The salmon had heavy smoked aroma and the meat tasted smooth and not chewy.

The vegetable was surprising fresh and very crispy.

There was caesar sauce to go with the salad. The sauce tasted similar  to tar tar sauce with milder sourish.

Laksa OK Nov 10, 2013

Categories : Noodles

Recently there was a Groupon sale at Eat where for $1 you can choose any noodle items below $4.30 from the menu.

I had chosen Laksa.

Although at $1 offer price, the laksa had generous amount of ingredients such as cockles, fried beancurd skin, fish cake sluces and taupok.

The gravy of the laksa was rich in coconut milk with tasted of dried shrimps.

The dried beancurd skin went well with the gravy, it absorbed all the richness of gravy taste.

The cockles were fresh and cooked just right, not too raw or over chewy.

Overall i was quite surprise Eat sells good delicious Laksa.

Lor Mee Smile Nov 09, 2013

Categories : Coffeeshop | Noodles

While I was doing grocery shopping at Bukit Batok Ave 4, I was craving for Lor Mee. I walked passed this noodle stall and saw many award certificates paste on their stall.

I had ordered their Lor Mee.

The Lor Mee had nice gravy with braised taste. There were braised pork, ngor hiam and egg.

The braised pork was very good. It was fatty and braised very well. You can tasted the braised herds in the pork.

The ngor hiam was not meaty and crispy thoughout.

The egg was disappointment, it was normal hard  boiled egg, not braised.

Beef Brisket Noodle Smile Oct 10, 2013

It was very hard to find nice cantonese Beef Brisket Noodles nowadays.

I chanced upon this Cantonese Restaurant at JCube that was frame for Cantonese Cuisine.

I had ordered this Beef Brisket Noodles which caught my eyes in the menu.

The apperance of the Beef Brisket Noodles looked very yummy with generous braised beef and vegetables.

The beef brisket meat tasted well braised and heavy flavoured, meat was soft, fatty and tender and you can actually use your lips to bite off the meat.

The noodles were typically cantonese type, crispy and springy, When eating with the beef brisket braised sauce, it was perfection.

Overall, this Beef Brisket Noodles was much better in taste than Crystal Jade one, though the price was much higher.

Spending per head: Approximately $10(Lunch)

Tonkatsu with cheese Smile Oct 06, 2013

There was always a long queue at this Tonkichi Restaurant during meal times. When I saw there was a shorter queue, I quickly went to dine there.

Since everyone ordered the usual Tonkatsu (deep fried pork fillet), I decided to order something different from the menu.

I had ordered Tonkatsu with cheese.

When the order came, I thought the tonkatsu does not looked different from others wonder had they gave me the wrong order.

So I decided to takeout one piece and there was melted cheese flowing out from the tonkatsu.

The outer breaded skin of the tonkatsu was hot, cripsy and fluffy, no oiliness feel.

Inside the pork was slightly fatty type, meat was tender and juicy, with flowing melting cheese made overall even juicier!

Spending per head: Approximately $20(Dinner)
