cookie heaven Smile Jul 29, 2013

A few months ago, Famous Amos tied up with Standard Chartered for a free 50g cookie redemption for stanchart members. It was part of the Standard Chartered The Good Life ‘I Love Free Monday’ deals. I headed down to the nearest Famous Amos outlet and got myself some chocolate chip cookies. As usual, you can smell the aroma of cookies from a mile away. I haven't had Famous Amos cookies for quite some time now but they were just as I remember them to be- fragrant, crunchy and absolutely delightful. It was definitely a good snack on a blue Monday.

kopi OK Jul 29, 2013

This is your typical kopi ($0.90) at a coffeeshop. Without fail, my father orders this cup of kopi everytime we frequent a coffeeshop. I remember that I used to stir in the condensed milk for him all the time. I thought I'd try this out and see for myself what keeps my dad coming back for more. I'm not an expert coffee-drinker so pardon my lack of knowledge. To me, this seems like a normal cup of coffee that I can make with an instant packet of coffee powder. Nothing great or phenomenal about it. I guess it's the experience of drinking it at a local coffeeshop that keeps my dad coming back for more and makes it a delightful drink for him.

For an after-dinner dessert, I headed to MOF for some good ol' Japanese dessert. This is a the Premium Japanese Red Bean with Matcha Gelato ($6.80). The red bean paste was very smooth and creamy. The paste also contains some semi-solid red beans and it made the experience enjoyable. However, it was a little too sweet for me. If eaten together with the green tea or the dumplings, then it isn't that bad. I like the green tea ice cream as it was really quite solid. Perhaps the green tea choices at MOF are the best, judging from the quality of their green tea as well.

fried chicken Smile Jul 29, 2013

Fried chicken is such a delicacy yet it is such a sin! For good fried chicken, one only needs to look to Popeye's. The batter is always fresh and never tastes stale. Chicken is tender and juicy. One downside is that there is always a lot of oil that oozes out from the chicken and seeing that makes me feel a little queasy and guilty. However, it is always ok to indulge once in a while. So let go of that diet just for one day and feast on some louisiana fried chicken today!

yang zhou fried rice Smile Jul 29, 2013

I love Paradise Dynasty for its good food! This is the Yang Zhou Fried Rice ($10.80). It has char siew, prawns, eggs and spring onions. I love Paradise Dynasty's prawns as they are always juicy, succulent and crunchy. Although the rice was fried, it was not oily. This fried rice goes very well with the chili that they provide. Bear in mind that Paradise Dynasty charges a $1 misc. fee that includes tea, chili and napkins. This is one point that I don't like as it seems like forced-selling but if you look past that, the food is pretty great.
