Too overly sweet OK Aug 23, 2011
Categories : Hawker Centre

This stall sells a lot of homemade drink - soya bean, grass jelly, lemon tea, sugar cane and a couple of drinks.

They sell it in 2 sizes - small and big.

I don't know how much it cost per drink, together it is $2.30 which is quite value for money to have such big glass of drink.

The ice they used is ice crush and I suppose they add slightly more syrup so that it blend well with the ice crush. As I kept stirring the ice lemon tea, it was still too sweet.

Just not my cup of drink.

Great for Crabs BUT not The Rest OK Aug 22, 2011
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Teochew | Coffeeshop | Seafood

This restaurant is very popular for celebration or gathering. You will be able to spot groups of family else colleagues having their dinner here. The restaurant is always fill with laughter and chit-chatting as though you are in a market place. smile Comes weekends it is always fill with people.

However, I felt that this restaurant is probably slightly over rated. I tried their crabs before and indeed it was nice. But beside the crabs I found their other dishes quite ordinary.

Kang Kong $6

You Tiao $6

The You Tiao is one of the chef recommendation and I found it weird why does the chef recommend such a dish that don't really stand out.

Hot Plate Beancurd $10

The sauce of the beancurd has a pinch of curry like flavour in it.

Cereal Prawn $15

The best part of having cereal prawn is the cereal itself. Normally when we order cereal prawn don't we always taste 1 spoonful of cereal first rather than having the prawn itself right? But the cereal prawn here somehow lack of that touch. You just can't dig enough cereal here. The prawn itself without the shell is kind of tastless.

It is Between McCafe & Starbucks OK Aug 22, 2011
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : American | Coffee

Ice Chocolate

For half the price of this Ice Chocolate, I can have the similar drink at McCafe. The Ice Chocolate here at Starbucks is too cocoa tasting. After finishing the Ice Chocolate you will feel the sugar rush in you - too overly dose.

McCafe is totally opposite, their Ice Chocolate on the other hand is not that too chocolaty and I just can't get enough of it.

Still, I didn't regret to have the Ice Chocolate at Starbucks as I know I'm paying for a cause. For such a positive branding it just create a cohesive environment - happy staffs = happy customer.

Spacious Ice Cream Cafe  OK Aug 17, 2011
Categories : Ice Cream and Gelato

Unlike most of the ice cream cafes, Ice Cream Art Cafe is very spacious with ample nice seating and it is a pretty quiet space to really enjoy the ice cream.

The only disadvantage is its location.

Their ice creams are homemade from fresh ingredients and their ice creams are daily produce to ensure quality and freshness. Ice cream flavours are change once a month.

Some of the winning flavours are:

Mao Shan Wang Durian
Known as King of fruits, some love the distinctive odour as fragrant where others find it overpowering and offensive! This evokes reaction of deep appreciation for this succulent, cream-coloured dessert.

Jamaican Rum & Raisin
A familiar evergreen with raisins marinated in a rich premium Jamaican Rum.

Mango Delight
Lips licking wish comes true with this tropical favourite delight.

Hokkaido Melon
Aromatic and flavorful with full bodied melon taste. Refreshing and delightful when served as float.

P'nut Butter
Smooth and enticing especially with a homemade waffle. Peanut lingers on long even after the ice cream is gone.

Almond Speculoos
A must try for almond lover! This unique medley of almond with speculoos (Belgian Spice cookies) is amazingly tasty.

Choco Mallows
Rekindle your childlike character with this traditional mixed of chocolate and a collection of marshmallows.

Butterscotch & Pecans
Sandy brown with a mellow caramel hides a sweet secret underneath it's pecan sheath make familiar flavours sophisticated.

I had the Butterscotch & Pecans & P'nut Butter for $5.90. I liked the P'nut Butter but not the Butterscotch & Pecans as I don't really like Pecans. Overall I felt the taste was still acceptable but not rich enough. Still, I only tried 2 flavours so I can't really judge much. But with their comfort resort like setting I will love to come back!

They do provide Ice Cream Making Workshop and after the workshop you can enjoy free flow of ice cream, waffle and float!

Check out this place!

At first I thought Sports Lifestyle Centre was a brand new concept but instead it was the same old swimming pool where I used to visit when I was young. I did expect badminton courts or etc but it is just swimming pool. Weird isn't it? Then why called it Sports Lifestyle Centre.

Anyway, Peppery Western Cuisine occupy a large part beside the swimming pool of the Sports Lifestyle Centre. There's outdoor seating and air-con seating.

Peppery Western Cuisine used to be located at Ang Mo Kio Industrial Park. I felt the location wasn't that idea at Sports Lifestyle Centre as I supposed not much people knew of it. This was my first visit and I had high expectation as it was highly recommended on media.

Wild Mushroom Soup (highly recommended by the staff)

The taste was kind of weird, too much starch added.

The fries was nice but the Nacho Cheese was too cheesy and strong for me, I rather had it bare - without the cheese.

Nice presentation and I liked the crispy element on top of the salmon - when I ate it together with the salmon it was a perfect combination. If the sauce was a little thicker then the whole salmon would be a 100 marks. The side dishes on the other hand kind of ruined it. The potato salad were a bit sour and it wasn't nicely blend as I could clearly taste the salt. The coleslaw was alright!

My mum had the Snow Cod Fish Fillet which was quite similar to mine.

Overall, I will still visit this place if only I am nearby.
