My husband wanted to actually eat Prawn Mee which is very famous and we actually reached the shopfront but decided to drive off due to the overwhelming crowd and we landed at 328 Katong Laksa.

Called us dumb, we didn't know that beside the outside seating, there's actually air-con seats next down! Being a typical Singaporean we learnt about it by practicing monkey see, monkey do. A family was actually shifting next door with their Otah so we just followed suit as it was flaming hot that day.

At least we were smart to follow suit right? smile

The uniqueness of their laksa is the noodle. They cut it in spoon portion, so you just eat with the spoon without the use of chopstick. At the same time you don't waste the laksa soup as you scoop the noodle with the soup. The chili complement with the bowl of laska, not too overly spicy. There's about 6 prawns and generous portion of cockles for the price of $5, pretty worth it!

Beside laksa, their Otah is real delicious too! Good food, good price too - $1.10 each.

After having Katong Laksa down the road, passed by Awfully Chocolate and I just couldn't give it a miss. At Awfully Chocolate it is about the packaging and quality which is why you pay a little extra for that wonderful touch.

Grab home 3 dedicate pieces home for tea break to mark a wonderful weekends at home.

At Awfully Chocolate, it is either the white or black for cupcake - Vanilla or Chocolate. I stored the cupcakes in the fridge and ate it instantly as it was too tempting. However, cupcakes from Awfully Chocolate taste better if you consume it at room temperature with the cream melting. I prefer the white and he is always after the black.

One of my favourite and a must have is the butterscotch! However, I just found it a little salty that day. Nonetheless, it is hard to maintain standard when business is growing.

If you don't know what to grab for Father's Day, head down to Awfully Chocolate and grab the specially designed cake in celebration of Father's Day!

The Sin Kee Famous Chicken Rice Smile May 10, 2012

Categories : Singaporean | Restaurant | Chicken Rice | Kids-Friendly

If you are thinking of having chicken rice but don’t want it to be the plain chicken rice, well head to Sin Kee Famous Chicken Rice!

At Sin Kee Famous Chicken Rice, they serve not only chicken rice. They offer a wide variety of dishes like Soya Sauce Chicken Noodle, Curry Chicken Noodle, Buk Ket Teh and even Curry Fish Head! Not only that, Sin Kee Famous Chicken Rice is not new to the media, in fact too overwhelm by the positive press!

Recently featured in the Chinese variety TV program Just Noodle: Episode 11 for their Chicken Noodle!

We tried out everything accept the Curry Fish Head as we were full tank by the time we emptied all the dishes we ordered.

The must have:

At Sin Kee Famous Chicken Rice, you can have the option to choose half and half of the types of chicken. I will say for the price you pay, you will find it pretty worth it! It is simply fulfilling enough to just finish the chicken rice! My sis was complaining of the bone but oh well, Singaporeans are just too pamper at times that they prefer the boneless chicken rice. Of course, being Sin Kee Famous Chicken Rice, the chicken is serve in the traditional way with bone and big juicy portion!

Herbal Chicken Soup

This soup is boil to perfection and with one sip, you will feel the richness of the soup. If you are looking for some tonic soup, order this!

Bak Kut Teh

I will say despite being famous for chicken rice, Sin Kee master the Bak Kut Teh very well too! In fact, it is much better than most of the Bak Kut Teh shop houses. It is not too peppery and it is very smoothing – not too thick. To perfect it, Sin Kee should serve red cut chili with the dark sauce to dip the pork rib.

Claypot Curry Chicken

I didn’t know curry chicken when pair with chicken rice does make a perfect pair. I finished the chicken rice in less than 5 minutes with the curry gravy. But mind the curry chicken as it is quite spicy but SHIOK! The curry gravy was thick enough and the chicken is tender, worth a try if you are heading to Sin Kee Famous Chicken Rice.

On separate visit we had the Curry Chicken Noodle and the Soya Sauce Chicken Noodle.

Soya Sauce Chicken Noodle

As recommended on TV, you really MUST TRY! The sauce Sin Kee Famous Chicken Rice use is rather special and when blend together with their home made chili it just make the whole trip to Sin Kee worth while!

Curry Chicken Noodle

The curry use is different from the claypot curry, it is towards laksa taste. I like the potatoes in it, very soft. But i still prefer the claypot curry gravy over the laksa gravy.

Overall, I feel that although the price is rather steep, you can expect a very fulfilling meal of top quality and a wide variety. Sin Kee Famous Chicken Rice is currently doing a promotion: $30 for Chicken Rice Set Meal (4 Servings), Includes: 1 Whole Chicken, 4 x Chicken Rice, Choice of Either 1: Herbal Chicken, Bak Ku Teh OR Curry Chicken + $10 Return Voucher @ Sin Kee Famous Chicken Rice.

Surprisingly No Queue Smile Jan 03, 2012

Categories : Taiwanese | Bubble Tea/ Tea

I don't know if it is due to the renovation work in progress in Iluma or was it due to Christmas's Eve whereby people were busy celebrating.

I was quite thirsty so I made an order and it just took us 5 minutes to get our drinks. smile

He had the sour plum something which is quite sour judging from his look.

The ice cream milk tea was a great choice I made! It is just simply sweet but you need a lot of shaking to dissolve the ice cream underneath.

Koi is good when there's no queue! smile

Ji De Chi Their Dessert! Smile Jan 03, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Restaurant | Chinese Desserts | Desserts and Cakes

It is my second time having their dessert, not bad - must try! Despite having a few dessert houses along Liang Seah Street, it is still filled with people.

Why Ji De Chi

Their snow ice is ambrosial, every mouthful is full of flavour and I like the way the ice is fold.

I had the banana flavour which is extremely nice to the bits! The yellow little circle taste sour and it just make it balance not too overly sweet and there's even fresh cut banana.

Mocha flavour is great too! It is pair with small version of glutinous balls. They are very thoughtful in pairing - different flavours, different pairings.
