Great Environment for Zi Char! Smile Dec 24, 2011

The first time I stepped in, I was very impressed which was why I decided to drop by again. Unlike having Zi Char at the coffee shop or a ruin down shop house, Shi Wei Tian I believe is the first Zi Char restaurant that is really about the branding and focusing on the overall experience.

The food here is of standard, the environment is spacious and it just make you feel comfortable plus the service here is quite good.

I will definitely return again and again.

Actually on the day itself, I was dying to try their steamboat buffet which is back on their menu again until end of Dec but I overlooked the timing. The steamboat buffet is only available from 9.30pm onward. What a waste I didn't manage to try it...!

Nonetheless, I was more than happy to explore their menu. We ordered the Curry Fish Head and the 3 Cup Chicken.

The Curry Fish Head comes in a very big portion more than enough to feed 5 people. The Curry Fish Head at Shi Wei Tian will definitely leave you an impression! It is sweet and spicy, you just feel the kick. I will suggest if there's only the 2 of you, unless you are really really hungry else don't order this dish as you will end up wasting food as the portion is really big.

The 2 of us just managed to clear one quarter of the portion which I was very sinful for. Else, I will suggest Shi Wei Tian to come out with a smaller pot of Curry Fish Head suitable for 2 maybe for $10 Then I will definitely drop by every week or every 2 weeks. smile

The seasoning for the 3 Cup Chicken is right, there's Chinese wine added and it is very fragrance just that the chicken portion is too thick which makes it difficult to chew and the fragrance can't penetrate to the middle part of the chicken.

If you are finding your way here, you can take...

The bus stop is just directly opposite Shi Wei Tian.

And there's ample of parking space just right in front of Shi Wei Tian.

If you have no idea what dish to serve to your guests this Christmas while having a home party, you might consider Dad's Shepherd's Pie!

On their menu, there's 4 different flavours to choose from: Classic, Oriental, Chilli and Black Pepper. The 4 different flavours simply cater to different needs - the exciting seekers and the plain Jane next door. smile

Beside Shepherd's Pie, they do sell some side dishes like chicken wings and garden salad! This Chirstmas, they have the Eurasian Curry Devil just added to their menu.

Dad's Shepherd's Pie is about home recipes, so the dishes you enjoy simply come with a lot of loves made by Chef Kleinman.

My mum bought for me the Dad's Oriental Chicken. The first few mouthful was weird tasting to me as this is my first time having Shepherd Pie! After the first few mouthful, I was used to the taste and it felt like eating mashed potato as the creamy potato & pumpkin of the Shepherd Pie was so soft - the texture was good! The sauce in it taste quite similar to the spaghetti in tomato base so it is not that foreign.

Worth a try!

There's inside and outside sittings, the service here is one of the tip top services as there are a lot of waitresses around and they are very attentive. It is hard these days to enjoy such services.

There are hits and misses, depend on what dish you order.

Kang Kong here is good, nothing to complain about.

The problem lie with the beancurd, the beancurd itself is tasteless - there's no flavour at all.

Fu Rong Egg isn't a dish that stand out, just simply a dish that's o-k-a-y.

The Assam Fish save it all! The Assam sauce is spicy and it is sour enough plus the fish is very fresh. But after having the sauce a few times, I just felt that it is too spicy but it was additive though. Maybe a little bit of sugar will aid, then it will be sweet, sour and spicy!

You might want to explore The Famous Kitchen yourself, worth exploring.

Healthier Meal OK Dec 04, 2011

The fried fish noodle here is one that is average but a healthier choice! The soup is not thick, even after adding the milk the soup taste alright - not too bland just right. But if you are looking for very flavoursome soup base than this stall will disappoint you a little.

The fried fish wasn't oily, you won't spot oil on the top layer of the soup which is good!

If you are dieting or feeling sick, this dish will suit you fine.

Below Average Japanese Buffet Cry Dec 04, 2011
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant

I chose to have my lunch at Minoriya as the price for the buffet was pretty attractive, I forgot how much exactly it was but definitely below $40 per pax.

The restaurant furnishing and decorations gave a strong Japanese feel - the overall environment was great!

The Whites were seated beside our table and they were having ala-cart menu and came in before us.

The buffet menu:

We placed our order and the food came not too long after but the table beside us just stared with envy. By then, the kids already ran out of games to play among themselves and were bothering their daddy. The daddy was still patient and waited still.

The sushi here were really below average. I just couldn't smell the vinegar fragrance in the rice and taste the sweetness of the ingredients. I depended on the soya sauce to makes thing better.

The Chawanmushi just lack of seasoning, a bit bland.

Another round of food came and the table next door was still waiting for their food. The daddy then approached the waitress and asked her to hurry up. Despite that, another 10 minutes passed and he couldn't take it anymore and went to the counter to hurry them. The services here were a bit slow and the staffs appeared to be a little blur headed.

The rest of the items on the menu didn't turn out well, I just regretted coming.

Unagi Yaki Meshi (Eel fried rice) was horrible, I think the egg fried rice I cook taste better than that!

Apparently, the sashimi is the only thing that add value to the buffet.

Not really a good place for sushi.
