Breakfast on a lazy saturday Smile May 21, 2013

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Kids-Friendly

After referral from a friend, decided to try out KungFu Paradise's breakfast set on a weekend morning...

FOOD

Eggs Benedict with Lemon Butter Sauce. It consists of mini burgers with bacon and poached eggs sittted on top of it. This breakfast dish comes with butter mushrooms, cherry tomatoes and some vegetables as its side. Accompanied by the tantalizing lemon butter sauce, this is a perfect hearty breakfast to kick off your day!

Kay’s Breakfast Combo. This breakfast set is like any other typical american breakfast that is easily seen anywhere else. Sunny-side Eggs, bacon, Hotdog, Hashbrown, burger with butter mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, vegetables as its side. It tastes average though.

SERVICE
The staffs are quite friendly and helpful in accommodating our requests.

PRICE
The prices are quite reasonable and if you are member of the paradise group, you get 10% rebate.

dining @ rooftop bar  Smile Apr 15, 2013
Categories : Restaurant

After buying online deal from Groupon, I came here to savour its above-average-priced food, while enjoying the breath-taking view of Sentosa.

FOOD

Eggs Benedict (Only available in the Brunch menu)
It serves with a burger topped with two half-cooked eggs, spinaches, and bacons. It's awesome when the egg yolk melts in your mouth, complimenting the bacon and spinach.

Big breakfast (Only available in the Brunch menu)
It comes in scrambled egg, pork bockwurst, chicken chipolata, bacon, baked bean, sautéed mushroom , mixed salad, semi dried tomatoes and mashed potato. It is a common dish in western restaurants as well. Nothing fantastic over here, but just love the scrambled eggs and the mushrooms.

King Prawn Linguine - $36
It's cooked in spicy agio olio style, and the prawn is huge and fresh. It has that springy feel when you take a bite on it. The linguine is not that fragrant though, as it lacks olive oil and has added too much spicy spices in it.

Cod Pillows- $18
It's breaded ocean cod sticks which comes in wasabi mayo sauce. It's crispy and quite addicting as the sauce goes well with the fish sticks.

SERVICE
The service is really bad. The staffs are unfriendly, wear a black and long face and display a attitude as if we owed them a living. When asked if they have other menu beside the brunch menu, they show it to us unwillingly. Besides, when we asked if they serve mock-tail, the staff just blabbered a whole list of drinks without telling us what does the mock-tail consists

AMBIENCE
I think ambience is the only factor that makes this meal worth it. The breath-taking view will awed you especially during sunset, as the sun turns the sky streams of crimson and gold. It's an ideal photo point, great for photographers who want to take photos of the setting sun. During weekends night, one can even watch the Songs of the Sea for free!

Royal afternoon tea Smile Mar 12, 2013

Categories : Western Variety | Restaurant | Steaks and Grills

Looking for a place to indulge in good food where you can unwind and relax on a lazy afternoon? Look no further - Lawry's is your perfect choice! Their afternoon tea is only priced at $15/pax, subjected to 10% service charge and 7% GST.

FOOD

The menu

The afternoon tea comes in 2 parts: 1 savory + 1 sweet + Tea/Coffee/drinks/jucies. I went with 2 other friends for tea, and we ordered the following items:

SAVORY
Cheese & Egg Mayonnaise Finger Sandwich with Salad

Cheese & Egg Mayonnaise Finger Sandwich with Salad

A sandwich with cheese and egg filling. Though it's just like any other sandwich sold outside, it just taste extra delicious!
Prime Rib Yorkshire Roll Up

Prime Rib Yorkshire Roll Up

In this dish, the tiny pieces of beef is being rolled up and wrapped around by the thin yet long slice of egg. It has a sauce for you to dip the roll up, for that extra tantalizing taste. It's quite filling for one person as it's too meaty.
Shrimp Quesadilla

Shrimp Quesadilla

This is a prawn pizza. I love the crust as it's thin and crispy!

SWEETS
Strawberry English Trifle

Strawberry English Trifle

This trifle comes in strawberry flavour. It's soft and spongy, but taste rather sweet. Quite refreshing after a bite of it.
Brown Bread Pudding with Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream

Brown Bread Pudding with Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream

This bread pudding comes with a vanilla ice-cream and cherry seated on top of it. It's quite soft and tasty!
Homemade Brownie with Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream

Homemade Brownie with Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream

Chocolate brownie - my favourite of all sweets! It's quite chocolaty and love the combination of brownie and ice-cream.. It's always awesome!

SERVICE
The service staffs are very polite and efficient in clearing plates. However, they tend to linger around your seats or stand there and look at you while you dine, which makes me feel very uncomfortable. They will only look away when I stared back.

AMBIENCE
I love the chillax ambience in this restaurant. Nice music, good food, classy-like-a royal palace! As I sit back and relax while indulging in the afternoon tea, my body seems rooted to the seat and it cant seems to leave the place....

Jap dinner  Smile Mar 08, 2013
Categories : Japanese

Nested at quiet side of a corner in Plaza Singapura, Hifumi is an ideal place to dine and rest your legs after a day's work!

FOOD

It has a good marketing concept:

The menu are all sold in sets, and all the sets come with all-you-can-eat appetizer bar.

The items in the appetizer bar:

The cheese fondue - very cheesy. Ideal for cheese-lovers.

Chawanmushi smile

Japanese dumpling soup - taste more like vegetarian dumplings

As for my set meal, I ordered Chicken Oyakoni Set which cost only for $13.90. It's quite salty if eaten without the rice. Anyway, they have free-flow of drinks that cost only for $1.99 (You can help yourself to any warm/cold drinks you want at the drinks bar.

SERVICE
The staffs are quite efficient in clearing the plates.

AMBIENCENCE

The surroundings of the restaurant - quiet and peaceful during non-peak hour. The crowd start to kick in at about 6.30pm onwards. Good place to sit down and have some chat while waiting to go for the 2nd round of appetizer and drinks!

SERVICE
The service staffs are friendly and polite. One of their staff was especially observant. On seeing that the four of us were sharing the food, he took 4 plates for us immediately.

PRICE
A cheap restaurant as compared to the other restaurants in Sentosa

AMBIENCE
Situated a stone's throw away from the beach, it's a great place to rest your legs after some beach activities. And it's also an ideal place if you would like to take a stroll after lunch/dinner!
