Food of Asia  Smile Mar 03, 2013

Located in the tourist site of Singapore, this restaurant offers cheap and good food as compared to its surroundings. What's more- it has different type of food all around Asia: Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, China, India and Singapore.

My friends and I stepped in for our lunch and ordered the following dishes:

FOOD
SzeChuan La Mian

SzeChuan La Mian

One of the famous type of noodle that originated from China. The la mian is accompanied with tiny pieces of minced pork and a tasty gravy sauce. Cost of dish: $7.80
Thai Spicy Fried Rice

Thai Spicy Fried Rice

This fried rice taste rather normal at a price of $8.
Mee Goreng

Mee Goreng

Singapore's Mee Goreng that comes with fish cake, onion, egg and prawn. Gives a soury feel initially to your taste bud which opens up your appetite! Cost of dish: $7.80
Ngor Hiang

Ngor Hiang

This dish is too salty unless accompanied with rice. Cost of dish:$4.80
Ka Kong with Sambal BlaChan

Ka Kong with Sambal BlaChan

This vegetable is just like any normal ka kong outside. Cost of dish: $5.80
Chicken Wings

Chicken Wings

My favourite dish of the day! It's very crispy and has the prawn-like paste - Awfully delicious! Cost of dish: $5.80
Ice Lemon Tea

Ice Lemon Tea

Homemade ice-lemon tea. I love the way the drink is placed in a jar-like glass. Very special indeed! smile

SERVICE
The service staffs are friendly and polite. One of their staff was especially observant. On seeing that the four of us were sharing the food, he took 4 plates for us immediately.

PRICE
A cheap restaurant as compared to the other restaurants in Sentosa

AMBIENCE
Situated a stone's throw away from the beach, it's a great place to rest your legs after some beach activities. And it's also an ideal place if you would like to take a stroll after lunch/dinner!

Arteastiq is a ideal place to sit down, chit chat and chill out for an afternoon tea! It offers many types of tea for one to indulge in, where each of them has its own unique presentation. There are also lots of food/deserts/light snacks for you to choose from. From cakes, pancakes. sandwiches to salads. I personally love the ambience as it's a tranquil and peaceful place for one to unwind and relax while indulging in the awesome food. Beside the tea boutique is a art-room for art lovers to pen down their creative drawings, at a affordable rent rate. On a side-note, the queue gets long during afternoon tea, normally during weekends. So it's wise to get there early and book a seat before they are filled up!

Lunching @ Hong Kong Cafe Smile Dec 31, 2013

FOOD
Crispy Hong Kong Noodle

Crispy Hong Kong Noodle

Attracted by its crispy HK noodle in the menu, I decided to give it a try. Generally, it's quite good. The noodle is really crispy, like those uncooked ones, and it's dipped in those egg-based gravy where there's a mixture of soft and crispy noodle. The noodles comes with vegetables, mushrooms, shrimps, carrot, one slice of abalone and bacon. It's quite a big bowl of noodle that I think can serve up to 2 people. Overall, it's quite nice and it's very filling for one

AMBIENCE

I like the ambience here as it's quite quiet and one can have a relax and peaceful lunch while savouring the delicious food! smile

Set Dinner Smile Sep 19, 2013
Categories : Teochew | Dim Sum

So my family and I came here for a dinner after it's newly renovated. We had the set menu for 10 pax at $488++

FOOD
Teochew-style Platter

Teochew-style Platter

Since it's a Teochew restaurant setting, their first dish of the set menu is the Teochew-styled platter which comprises of slices of duck and pork, some pieces of tau pok, and many quarters of braised eggs. It's quite salty if eaten plainly without rice.
Sauted Scallops with Broccoli and X.O. Sauce

Sauted Scallops with Broccoli and X.O. Sauce

The scallops are well marinated with the XO sauce and the broccoli is well-cooked - not too hard or soft.
Sauteed Prawn Balls and Fried Fish Skin with Salted Egg Yolk

Sauteed Prawn Balls and Fried Fish Skin with Salted Egg Yolk

One of my favourite dish in the set menu. The fish skin is quite crispy, tantalizing one's tastebuds. The prawns balls on the other hand tastes more like a sotong ball though.
Traditional-style Steamed ‘Soon Hock’

Traditional-style Steamed ‘Soon Hock’

The gravy is one of my "grading criteria" that I look for when tasting the different ways fish are being cooked. For this particular dish, I like the gravy. Not too salty, and is rather sweet-smelling, which makes it appealing.
Fish Maw Sea Cucumber with Seasonal Vegetables

Fish Maw Sea Cucumber with Seasonal Vegetables

The fish maw are soft and soggy, which are easy to bite. Taste good too!
Teochew-style Fried Mian Xian

Teochew-style Fried Mian Xian

The teochew-stlyed noodle, which has those standard ingredients cooked elsewhere. Taste quite bland and dry.
Chilled Coconut Lotus Seed Pudding served in Young Coconut

Chilled Coconut Lotus Seed Pudding served in Young Coconut

Lastly, this desert is my top favourite for the day! It's a newly-created desert that is wrapped by a coconut, which has coconut ice-cream and coconut pudding in it. The serving is topped off by lotus seeds, which creates the feeling of nuttiness in your tastebuds!

SERVICE
I have always admired the service of Tung Lok Group Restaurants. I think their staffs are trained in a certain way that they must present the best service so as to promote the company's goodwill in customers. The staffs here will take the initiative to take extra chairs for you to place your bags on it, so that you can sit back comfortably on your chair. Brilliant move!

New drink Smile Jul 29, 2013

Categories : Taiwanese | Bubble Tea/ Tea

Tried out one of KOI's new creations:

Mango Macchiato - $3.20

I like the strong flavour of Mango, and it's quite a refreshing drink to quench your thirst! However, when the cream starts to mix with the mango, it taste very sweet, even though I have already reduced the sugar level to 50%. The mixture taste not as nice as the black tea macchiato though. MY favourite is till black tea macchiato.

Another thing that I like about the KOI outlet is that they provide chairs for customers to sit down and charge their phone. They provide plugs and even charger for iphone users! how awesome is that! A good waiting place to sit and play with your phone without the worry of draining your battery away. It's also a good place for friends to sit down and chit chat after dinner.. mad
