Oreoreoreo OK May 26, 2014
Categories : Bakery

I always pass by this shop everytime I go to AMK Hub, and the cakes displayed look tempting. One day I decided to give a try.

Chocoreo Bun - $1.50. Plain bun with Oreo cookie crumbs on top. The bun was fluffy and soft, and the amount of Oreo given was quite generous. However, for $1.50, I felt it's too pricey for such small size. Also, they should spread more vanilla cream, since some part of Oreo crumbs was not sticky to the bun.

Japanese Ricebowl OK May 23, 2014

Beef Vegetable Value Meal - $7.90. Looks like Yoshinoya here doesn't have varied menu like in Jakarta. I didn't have many choices - hence, I chose this Value Meal, which consists of beef bowl (signature sliced beef, cabbage, long beans, and carrots over white rice), and any choice of drinks (I chose coke). Yoshinoya's beef never fails to impress me. It was so juicy, flavorful, and tender. The veggie was rather tasteless though.

Bread and Bread OK May 20, 2014

honey mustard sausage

honey mustard sausage

Honey Mustard Sausage - $3.20. Bread with honey mustard filled with sausage. The bread was soft, easy to chew. The sausage was juicy, but a bit too spicy for my liking. Could have been bigger though haha.
chocolate & pistachio crumble

chocolate & pistachio crumble

Chocolate & Pistachio Pretzel - $1.80. Nothing special. The amount of pistachio crumble sprinkled was too little. I would prefer the chocolate coating to be spread evenly over the whole pretzel.

Mediocre Waffle OK May 12, 2014

Habitat Coffee is a small cafe located along shophouses on Upper Thomson Road. It was crowded when I was there, but I managed to get a table for three, just beside the pantry. Good news is, there are no GST and service charge here. Water dispenser is also available for free flow water. Basically, when you come in, the friendly staff will hand in the menu and let you take your time to choose. Once you are settled with your choice, go to the cashier, order your menu, pay, and wait for your order to be ready. In a nutshell, this cafe adopts a self-order system.

Belgian Waffle Combo with 1 Scoop Ice Cream - $7. The waffle was unfortunately forgettable. Yes, it was fluffy, but nothing special. The Belgian chocolate ice cream that I chose also tasted pretty boring, just like normal chocolate ice cream that I usually have. The size was quite huge though, suitable for sharing.

Overall, I love the place (would be much better with lesser crowd), but not really for the food. I heard that they serve great brunch menus, hoping that someday I get the chance (and the willing) to come back for brunch. Their coffees and cakes look tempting also!

Spending per head: Approximately $7(Lunch)

Mediocre Burger OK May 12, 2014

MOS Burger has been one of fast food joints that I patronize the most. It is a nice place to catch up with my friends before afternoon lecture.

Cheeseburger - $2.10. This price is for ala carte menu. You can always make it to set menu for additional few bucks, which comes with fries and choices of drink. My cheeseburger was average only. The beef patty was juicy, and the burger bun was soft. However, what I dislike about MOS Burger is that their burger comes in a small size, smaller compared to its competitors (you know who lah), so it is not really fulfilling.

I also tried their MOS Chicken - $2.80 (not pictured), which looked like drumstick, but in boneless version. It was well-seasoned and crispy, although a bit oily.

Spending per head: Approximately $5(Lunch)
