Lemon Chicken OK Jul 02, 2014
Categories : Food Court | Chicken Rice

Lemon Chicken Cutlet - $4. The amount of sliced chicken given was considered generous, it was tender and juicy, my complain was that they put only a little lemon sauce! The Hainanese rice was a bit tasteless, couldn't taste the chicken flavor in it. The portion was fulfilling enough. But overall, quite disappointed with this dish.

Spending per head: Approximately $4(Dinner)

Japanese Dessert Smile Jun 25, 2014

Categories : Japanese

Were craving for Japanese dessert that day, then we saw MOF and decided to satisfy our craving there. The space is rather spacious, there were many empty seats when we got there - no need to queue.

Matcha Sundae - $4.80. I added kanten jelly as topping for $1. It was soft-serve ice cream drizzled with matcha sauce, served with mochi balls, cherry and crispy waffle. The jelly was plain though, the honey sauce didn't help at all. The ice cream was so soft, mochi balls were chewy, and matcha sauce was a hit. It was delightful.

Shiratama Kurian - $7.20. Soft-serve ice cream with mochi balls, azuki (red bean), kanten jelly, sliced strawberries and peaches. The fruits were all fresh, nice pairing with ice cream.

Overall, we were satisfied with the dessert, although they came in small bowls hehe. Will be back to try other desserts, since they offer various kind of dessert here.

Fun DIY Pancake Smile Jun 22, 2014

Categories : American | Desserts and Cakes

Slappy Cakes is a restaurant better known for their DIY pancake. Here, the creativity is all yours. Basically, there is a cooking pan in every table. You can choose your preferred flavor for your batter (flavors available are whole grain, buttermilk, zucchini, chocolate, and peanut butter). The batter comes in a squeezeable plastic bottle, to make it easier to pour and cook the pancake. You can also add some toppings for your pancake, such as fruit jam, fresh fruits, and chocolate.

Actually we wanted to have chocolate and buttermilk batter, but the buttermilk one was out of stock, so we change the buttermilk to peanut butter. Each bottle of batter costs $8, and we added mango jam and hazelnut spread for toppings. Each topping costs $1.50 if I'm not wrong.

Let the fun begins! We started from basic shapes first...

We kept making random shapes and finally we made this huge pancake to share from the leftover batter.

I think it was a nice experience making my own pancake. The pancake was not bad though, it was fluffy, I could taste the chocolate and peanut butter in it. Price is quite reasonable too, we spent $20 (excluding drink & GST), and equally shared the total among 4 people. The DIY pancake may not as fulfilling as single fixed menu (because you have to share the batter), but you pay for the experience.

Petite Cupcakes Smile Jun 22, 2014

It was my first time trying Twelve Cupcakes. I only bought a piece of cupcake, enough to cure my curiosity mad.

PB Chocolate - $3.20. Chocolate cupcake with fluffy peanut butter frosting. The dough itself has chocolate flavor, it's already yummy even if you don't eat it with the frosting. I like the peanut butter frosting, it was nutty, making it a perfect pairing with the chocolate-based cupcake. But somehow I feel that $3.20 is a bit too much for a small cupcake that I can finish in 2 or 3 bites only.

Louisiana Kitchen Smile Jun 22, 2014

Popeyes is one of my favorite fast food joints around. They serve good chicken and seafood at reasonable price. This time I just bought a box of calamari for snacking at home while watching movie.

Calamari Rings - $3.90. The squid was not difficult too chew, the portion was quite generous as well. It remained crispy even after hours of storage. Although it was a bit tasteless, I still like it because of the crispiness. The amount of calamari given was also quite generous. For $3.90, I think it is a good deal.
