Long Live Graduation! OK Jan 09, 2012
Categories : Japanese | Sushi/Sashimi

After my graduation thing in Expo, T3 was the place to go after a poor snack buffet served after. sad

Not knowing anywhere else, we saw the stair sticker from afar and headed to Sakae Sushi afterwards for a pipin' bowl of ramen, to commemorate that its somewhat like a birthday after all, but far more important! It was my diploma after all hard earned, and after almost 5 hours of starving in the ceremony, good food is what I needed and flavorful broth is the best cure to any rambling tummy.

Ordering the standard sliced pork ramen for $14, I quickly dug in as there was the egg waiting! Sadly of course, SS is not the place to have your ramen fix as hello, Singapore got tons of original ramen places that just keeps on popping up, but the least to say that noodles were cooked al dente, broth was not as thick and flavorful (but hungry anyways) and vegetables were decent.

When the bowl came, it wasn't has hot as I expected as it was freezing cold from the expo and in the airport, so I asked for a reheat and I bet it was microwaved and not pot heated. If it was an original Japanese-head resto, I would get a lot of freebies from this. Japanese courtesy I adore! Hehemad
looks tempting though :D

Combo Congee OK Jan 09, 2012
Categories : Hawker Centre | Porridge/Congee

I was enticed by the combo promotion featuring their congee and chee chong fun. ITS BEEN A WHILE SINCE I ATE THEM both!

in a mildly cool day eating hot congee would make me perspire, and with the good price to get them both. Getting the century egg congee with the chee chong fun, I first ate the porridge, which frankly has nothing too special. It was starchy however so at least it had kept its shape until the time i ate which was late lunch hour.

Chee chong fun was cold, as a closing, which just what I wanted. The sauce was a bit bland but a dash of soy sauced helped. Sprinkled with sesame, it was the norm to expect. At least, it gave me the fulfillment of the tummy needed and as I ate in haste, I did burn my tongue in the first round. tongue

Fried rice and fish OK May 16, 2011
Categories : Coffeeshop

Feeling fried rice but wanted a big portion of it and not just a cup of the bowl of the rice, I added in the steamed/baked fish (definitely not fried I was avoiding anything fried this time tongue).

I had only this without any other meat/vegetable since the fish was quite huge, something like half fillet size and it was filling! The fried rice was quite tasteless however, and I needed to add in the usual soy sauce and pepper. But other than that the fish was soft and for the portion it was just the size I was looking for!mad

Osaka style ramen OK May 15, 2011
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant

This is the first time I tried this style or ramen, where usually its swimming around a hot pot of really rich in its broth, this one was a new "Osaka style" with sweet corn, a bit thick in its soup. The taste was new but not my kind of ramen.

It is sweet and with an extra soy sauce poured over it was tad better. I also had the gyoza which was crispy, which is a better compliment. For a total of $12 with additional like $2 for the side dish which was the 6-serve gyoza plus tax, the gyoza was the best buy.

Poor watery soup base OK May 07, 2011
Categories : Food Court | Chinese Soup

Another outing for dinner, finally chose something that was close to where I sat. The fish stall here has so many accreditations as seen here.

I got the fish soup with mee sua for $3.70.

When it came, it looked empty compared to the one in the photo and with the soup base more clear. Then it hit me after I've gotten a spoonful that yeah I did notice the cans of condensed milk but then I guess you have to ASK for it if you want milk.

Without additional pepper and soy sauce I wouldn't think that the soup would taste better.
