Next dessert bowl on the hunt! I wanted to try many different stalls as I can with different desserts. This time, I tried their yam and glutinous rice with gingko nuts for ... shocked oh no I forgot. about $2 there? Or $2.50?
The lady mixed it together with the rice because the yam paste wasn't enough for a portion's worth. So I agreed and tried.

Compared to the one in Tiong Bahru, this was also not too sweet, but I guess it wasn't my cup of dessert to be together with the tasteless glutinous rice. The yam was pretty decent, but somehow it doesn't wow me as much.

Cookeeatmonster, hunting for the worthy places of bringing your monstrous appetite.

Chicken nasi lemak OK Nov 30, 2010

Categories : Hawker Centre

This stall has $2 big sign on it, and I ordered the one on the left side of their sign. This one you'll get the rice, chicken, egg, the ikan bilis and sambal. Everything was generally cold, I wished I should've asked to be heated or so, but the chicken was quite soft in its meat. The sambal wasn't spicy at all. Overall it was OK, the rice was not bad, it had the slight fragrance and taste you look for in nasi lemak.

My friend ordered the one on the right panel which lookedl like she got more 'meat' things with 2-3 patties of fish cake, ikan bilis, sausages, and such. Maybe this one is a much more worth!

Maybe it's best to try Waemunah's $1.50 nasi lemak!?

The man selling was friendly though! smile

Porky is the best thing ever OK Nov 30, 2010

I'm in my pork chop fever. Nonstop pork chop madness how I love the salty and crispy taste of its skin yet soft quishy underneath. This is number one sin created by us Chinese. tongue

Anyhow, I was craving for it so I ordered the usual pork chop rice. It was simple, with white rice and chopped pork and their usual brown sauce. i aded a dash of soy sauce to make it more saltiertongue

It wasn't bad but not to recommended either. The pork was quite cold already and so no juices came out, as it was a bit hard... Pork chops in Chinatown area are still a winner!

Sticky fried OK Nov 27, 2010

Heard that this stall was a must-try, so I head over and wow, with $2 as the price, who wouldn't want a lunch at this awesome price?

I ordered the normal fried kway teow, extra so I added another dollar ($3). But there wasn't much of a difference! SO all, must just get $2, I still didn't feel full *sorry for my big tummy* and tapao'd.

When I recieved it, I was only irking at the size and it was small compared to the economic beehoon full to the rim of the plate! Heh heh. So yeah, as for the noodle, it was greasy with much oil, with sliced fish cake, pork slices, egg and lots of shells meat which is the good part! It'll taste better if it was drier in texture and I'd add a pinch salt more for it. It's just OK, maybe not sooooo good. Only the portion of the shells that was quite generous?chopstick

Tagliatelle TOP! OK Nov 22, 2010

Categories : Italian | Restaurant | Pasta | Pizza

Long overdue, I came here for my friend's birthday. If I wasn't invited then I'd never know there's this kind of lane with all restaurants; very chic lane indeed!

Anyhow, since it was his birthday, so I was preparing my tummy far long and reminding him "I can order aaaanything right?" without shame. Thank goodness he gave a green light so it was a gastromonic journey from appetizer to dessert! mad

Sadly I didn't take any pictures, but what we ordered first on the table for appetizer was the bruschetta and garlic bread. It's not too special, I knew I was scarfing it like mad since I was hungry. But the tomatoes were freshly diced on top. Refreshing!

For the main course, I ordered their special menu of the day, their tagliatelle ($26++). This is a type of pasta size, which is flat and wide in its width. It was with some meat, which I've forgotten. It was my first time to try this type of pasta and dish, but truthfully, it really tasted delicious. I remember it had green sauce, not spicy, but it was goooood. It's a must try since it's their special!

For the dessert, again, I chose the special/recommended one on the list, must have that special star where the chef recommended. Although I don't exactly remember what it was, it was soooooo oozing good, I'm sure it was something chocolate and ice-cream.

However it was a nice place to chill and hang out in the evening with a good view. The food doesn't grow on you though, there's far more better Italian restaurants around...
