big bowl of handmade noodles Smile Mar 19, 2011
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Food Court | Noodles

Instead of choosing the squared version of the handmade noodle which thought was interesting, my friend finally chose the normal noodle ala fetuchinni size. The bowl is bigger than the usual ban mian I see except that cheapest one in Tiong Bahru, and she ordered a side dish as well which we thought it was the jellyfish dish. But it turns out that, Hrrrmph, it's not! It turns out that it was like some clear noodle and carrot pickles, not the jellyfish.

Gotta say the noodle soup has more flavor, and we shared (with the murtabak) with two bowls and it was totally full! Think the bowl is really bigger and has more noodle substance tongue

However on service the lady really couldn't speak English, it was so hard to communicate. The chef uncle was generally better in serving without the annoyed look we usually get from chinese vendors.

guiltless food galore Smile Mar 19, 2011

Categories : Korean | Chinese Soup | Noodles

This new chain introduced by my cousin, Bibigo, is a franchise from Seoul itself and has preivously opened first in the States before finally arriving in our Raffles City basement!

Their signature dish was definitely the customize bibimbap (hot stone mixed rice) from the choice of rice, either barley white to black pearl rice, then the meat should it be chicken, beef or vegetarian.

It was a totally new way of eating and a presentation that you wouldn't find anywhere at any Korean store! The fresh vegetable is placed at an interesting packaging and the spice is then mixed to our own, and there was a dash of almonds on top of the rice!

Took the black pearl rice to give such experimental dish with gochujjang paste - the usual red paste. There are many other different types of sauce you can choose as well, that comes in a packet instead of a sauce dish.

The taste was different - it was more raw and clean since it was definitely less or even no grease than the usual - no half boiled egg as well. It has a clean finish to your tongue and you definitely have space to eat for dessert! The portion is slightly smaller than most place, it just sits nicely in your tum with the kimchi side dish as well and anchovy top.

I mean yes I prefer the greasy one... tongue cos it has more taste... but as for the whole presentation this place is totally pretty and super health conscious that when you eat more you don't feel the guilt at all! lol

Service tends to be quite slow as when you come at a lunch hour its always, always fully packed.

TOPS!

monday meal of the day! Smile Mar 19, 2011

Categories : American | Fast Food | Burgers and Sandwiches

Subway has been having their meal of the day promotion for $4.50 per 6-inch sub. On Monday which I came along with classmates across my school. I ordered it, it was roasted rhicken breast, with parmesan as the bread, and red wine vinegar. It gives a refreshing crunchy taste, tidbit of saltiness and a ckick of sourness from the vinegar based sauce, which you don't feel guilty compared to mayonaise dressing and its creamy base.

And did you know (or if I've read wrong) The sub is only like 240 calories for this 6 inch? Talk about healthy and guiltless. I'll top up to be a foot long to stay till dinner! mad

Lent season of sweet Smile Mar 19, 2011
Categories : American | Fast Food | Burgers and Sandwiches

So, lent season means to stop eating big and try to control on what you like most or in another way just to show your belief. Anyhow, I tried not to eat all big meals and just eat small meals. But then instead of eating a 6inch and stay away from famous bak kut teh around the neighborhood, for my little snack for the evening, I decided to waste my last calories of the day with their ultra GOOD GOOD CHEWY GREAT COOKIES.

Macadamia white nut is seriously the best best best. I bought 2 cookies to limit myself , at 80c each. The gooey, chewy and melting macadamia nut is best when eaten warm (sadly I got quite a cold one).

morning break Smile Mar 19, 2011

Categories : American | Coffee

Really, it's closed now?! Well, I just went there earlier in March... enjoying the seat outside one really early morning and just coincidentally Bucks was there hiding in the corner so I whipped up myself to get something fresh. My friend ordered a cup of hot mug americano, and I got a fruit squeeze of passion ($6).

The place was totally crowded with Q-ers of all businessmen and women to wake themselves up so there would be a long queue at this round of hour!

Outside was empty, but inside, the sofas were occupied.
