Casual Lunch at Brotzeit Smile Jun 20, 2012

Hopped over to Brozeit the German bar for lunch because they had this set lunch meal promotion, it was rather affordable.

I ordered the NEW dish* Haus Spiess (A skewer of variety of meat: Grilled pork sausages, pork tenderloin, chicken breast plus capscicum and fries) with Taggesuppe (Soup of the day). tongue
Cost: $19

Haus Spiess
It was delicious! The fresh juicy meaty chunks just sink into your taste buds as your teeth chew upon them. The sauce was of a unique taste, uniquely german-ish. lol

Taggesuppe (Soup of the day)
Totally don't look like what it was in the picture. I was quite surprised (more of SUPER SHOCKED) when the colours didn't turn out bright yellow as they had in the picture. The taste was awesome though, it is these kind of soups that are so fragrant you remember the smell of it forever.

My dad ordered Medly of Starters and the Seafood Salate.
Cost: $15

Medly of Starters
Tried a spoonful of it and the crunchiness kind of rings up to your ears. It was really fresh and you don't get that kind of weird smell that smells like grass when you chew on it.

Seafood Salate
I love how Brotzeit actually made a fair consideration of people who are more conscious with their health. My dad for one is really pleased with this portion because it is a perfect balance between seafood and his greens, something really refreshing and not too heavy for lunch.

The service staff are quite average, some of the staff are oblivious to their surroundings even as we waved our hands frantically in the air to signal them over. It's not a very packed restaurant anyway so I guess they should pay more attention or go for improved service training

Recommended Dish(es):  Haus Spiess

Spending per head: Approximately $16(Lunch)

Cold Crab Salad at TWG Restaurant Smile May 25, 2012

Famous for their tea, I've decided to go against the crowd and not drink tea (I have problems drinking tea after 2pm, makes me feel SUPER awake at night). So decided to eat cold crab salad with my mum, and my goodness!!! lol

I wonder how they can find this perfect combination for the yummy salad. It was really refreshing with the prawns and what tasted like honey but i don't really know how they did the mash-up of ingredients. Anyway it was really filling for two, my mom said it's actually quite a highchloresterol dish but i'm glad the veggies helped to cover it up. tongue

I heard a lot of this taiwan porridge from friends and decided to try out myself.. turns out it's quite similar to home-cooked food, it may be good to some if they've been away from home for sometime. I mean, how often can you eat something which reminds you of your lovely family cooking this love-dish for you?

The best thing is they have steamed peanuts which is my favourite sidedish! It's a great combination with this porridge which is light and soft, not my favourite, i prefer congee-style but remembering the times where i was younger and my mother told me that apparently watery porridge is healthier or something. i'd prefer if they had some brown rice porridge. the style is quite similar to taiwan where its' in smaller portions but you get to eat a wide variety of food.

its a quality lunch definitely, and pricey too. apparently its the 5 most popular dishes from taiwan mixed with porridge but i didn't know that or heard of it when i was in taiwan.. so.....

Caramel waffle! Smile May 03, 2012

Salted Caramel WAffle

Salted Caramel WAffle

Did someone say salt plus caramel with ice-cream waffle? This refreshing taste of the combination of sweet, salt and er.. warm pancake makes everything tastefully yummy!

However all the guilt of this sinful dish comes flooding in so it's best you share this with someone else 'else you add on all those carbs. if you're diabetic please try and avoid this, 'cos i think it might be quite extreme for some people?

Grab a bottle of water and clear your throat or else you'd end up having phlegm like me. smile

Spending per head: Approximately $6.5(Tea)

House of Dim Sum! Smile May 02, 2012
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Dim Sum

Being a dim-sum fanatic, (I LOVE DIMSUM), I think the House of Dim Sum truly lives up to its' name! One of the better dim sum that i've eaten, the piping hot siew mai.. cha shao bao..

Custard Pau
The custard filling is not so sweet that it makes you puff up your face. With fluffy skin/bread, you don't have to worry that the custard pau will spurt out at your friend's face. Eat with your fingers for maximum satisfaction!

Siew Mai
It doesn't make sense for someone to go into a dimsum restaurant and NOT try the siew mai. Over here, you have to eat the siew mai, no matter what. If it's sold out, come again.

Spending per head: Approximately $15(Dinner)
