One of my favourite places to go would be Keppel Bay, because waters seem to be a great therapy for relaxation and has a calming effect.

With the harbour as a parking lot for the yacht, it is actually quite a romantic scene if you go with your beloved. For me, I had the luxury and the privilege to spend my morning with both my parents at Prive Cafe, which is one of the most popular Cafes in Singapore.

With the walls painted skyblue, I felt really relaxed and my appetite was enlarged. There are both indoor and outdoor seating, but because it was raining we had to take shelter instead. The staff were not excellent in their service as I would expect, but they were just average.

There is a flat-screen television advertising different events and restaurants all around Singapore, which is probably under the same group alongside with Prive Cafe.

Cappuccino (left) - $5.50 and Toffee Coffee (right) - =$6.00
I believe Singaporeans must never go on a day without coffee, and Prive Cafe has an excellent choice of different types of coffee as they have a barista coffee machine over there. smile

Toffee Coffee
There was a slight hint of coffee taste, and it was quite an aroma. It didn't require sugar because it was already slightly sweet (and I prefer bitter coffee), and I could taste the quality of the milk. The froth wasn't as smooth as I'd preferred, there were bubbles appearing in the froth which made it too airy to taste. sad

Cappuccino
Because the froth wasn't skilfully done, therefore the cappuccino was really sub-par as compared to other coffee outlets. I guess Prive wasn't famous for their coffee, but the roasted beans were quite delicious.. perhaps its just because that the milk that they made for us wasn't a freshly brewed one (or perhaps they have already steamed it the second time).

Eggs Benedict - $16.00

lol Eggs benedict is one of the safest choice anyone can order in Prive Cafe, it is also a popular favourite hashtag in instagram. Anyway, eggs benedict comes with bacon (and poached egg), cheese, and i really love the hollandaise made by Prive. The rocket salad was absolutely fresha nd delicious too! It was a perfect combination but the plate wasn't hot and it cooled the food fairly quickly. By the time I Finished taking the pictures of the food, it wasn't as warm as before. The poached eggs are really good, but not as good as the ones I ate in SMU THe Basement. The yolk broke too easily. sad

Eggs Benedict really go well with all sorts of drink, including coffee! It is truly the perfect breakfast to perk one up. smile

Eggs Royale - $16.00

Eggs Royale, on the other hand, have one of the most fantastic God's creation in this meal- SALMON. Prive is generous with their salmon, and their salmon is really fresh. The downside is that they claim it to be 'smoked salmon' but it really isn't, because I couldn't smell any smokiness taste and it was too raw for my liking. In fact, it just tasted like Sashimi in any Japanese store. The food wasn't warm as I'd like as well, but I love the cheese and hollandaise sauce mixing together.

It was quite a small portion for me, the muffin (bread) was quite easy to cut through and that is to my delight! lol I'd wish Prive do something different with the Eggs course though, it feels like the 'poached eggs' craze is getting too common for me, and for a high-class cafe like Prive, they should really be innovative and not simply depend on the ambience. Truly I felt like I was paying for the ambience rather than for the food and service, or maybe I just developed very high expectations of them after hearing many great reviews of it.

Crazy Kraze Burgers! OK Aug 24, 2013
Categories : Restaurant | Steaks and Grills | Burgers and Sandwiches

Originating from the United States, Kraze burgers are devoted to making the best quality-burgers around and also providing alternatives for the health conscious and vegetarians. Their buns are really fresh, and also the best part is they have their own unique patented sauces (i.e: say goodbye to ketchup and common chilli)... there is a diverse menu of burgers offered, and also recently they added Spaghetti to their add-on menu (separate set of menu)! smile

Entrance of the Kraze Restaurant
While most restaurants are taking a step to the open-air concept restaurant, I really love the huge wide spaces between each table. It wasn't too crowded on a weekend afternoon and the service provided was great (but not excellent)! While they attend to every of our needs, they didn't take the initiative to provide us water or ask if we wanted it. Thankfully, the water provided by the restaurant was free.

Open-concept, spacious seating
It wasn't too crowded and the lightings were not too glaring, I love the cushion seats and we can take it really slow in eating our food!
Chilli Cheese Fries

Chilli Cheese Fries

Chilli Cheese Fries - $8
This plate of chilli cheese fries isn't spicy at all, and the mozzarella cheese was delicious to go in combination with the cross-cut fries. What surprised me was the beef ketchup sauce that came along with it, which tasted exactly the same as my main dish of Meatball Pasta.
Chilli Cheese Fries

Chilli Cheese Fries

The fries were warm when they arrived, and the melted cheese stuck to the surface of it. Not only is this side dish good-looking, it really is the perfect mate for my tastebuds too!
Meatball Spaghetti

Meatball Spaghetti

Meatball Pasta - $9.90
No. Don't order this. I think Kraze burgers should focus on their burgers instead, because I was really disappointed with their meatballs. The pasta was initially very delicious but i got sick of it overtime. There were just too much meat in the dish! The plate got really cold quickly. The meatballs tasted frozen, though their philosophy was to only serve the finest and freshest food.
Meatball Spaghetti

Meatball Spaghetti

The spaghetti was succulent but got quite soggy rather quickly.
Root beer float

Root beer float

Root Beer Float
Alongside with the Meatball Pasta, I was able to order a complimentary drink. There were two options: root beer float or sprite float! I chose the former and the ice-cream tasted really good. I am not sure if it was from Wall's or King's brand, but it was a great starter before my meal. It's okay to defy formal dining etiquette once in awhile and have your dessert first I guess, hehe! lol
Kraze Onion Burger

Kraze Onion Burger

K. Onion Hit - $14.00
This is a huge burger that requires a mouth of a giant to eat. Using a toothpick to ensure the contents of the burger stay together, there is ample lettuce and vegetable to keep one happy and healthy. The onion is huge and it has an outer crust around it, but after awhile it tasted more like sotong because of the texture of the onions.

The K Onion Hit also has tapioca fries served along side with it, which made me felt extremely full.

Close-up of Onion Burger
The patty was really fresh, and the bun was very different from the buns we usually eat! It is extremely soft and fragrant, signifying the freshness of how it probably was baked a day or two before. The sauce used to marinate the patty was a little salty but pleasant to taste!
Tapioca Fries

Tapioca Fries

Tapioca Fries
The tapioca fries were sweet-tasting and fragrant, and I honestly preferred this over normal fries! lol while it is not crispy nor oily like any other fries, i felt like i was eating mashed potato cakes. It's a challenge to describe this side dish!
Salad

Salad

Salad
VERY juicy and fresh lol The salad served as an excellent side dish alongside with the Kraze Onion Burger!

All in all, I do love the experience in Kraze burger but will not regularly come back because it feels relatively unhealthy, and I hope that they will improve on their environmental policy (yes, I'm starting to get more conscious of being environment-friendly now). smile

Chili's first joint opened in Dallas as a burger joint, and have been spicing things up since 1975. Way to go, Chili's!
It's VERY obvious in their decorations that they originated from somewhere along in the United States. Where exactly in the U.S? We didn't know until I research on it and found out that they started in Texas, which probably showed how their table layout (table is made up of tiles instead of the normal wooden table material) got inspired from. chopstick

Decorations

I love how detailed they are, even up to their lightings. When we first went in, the waitress didn't allow us to sit anywhere we wanted because of 'reservations', which apparently is another example of restaurant serving invisible guests. I'm getting sick and tired of restaurants who always have their tables RESERVED ONE OR TWO HOURS in advance, when their guests never arrived even after we finished eating. So she placed us right beside the kitchen, which had smells emitting from it and my dining partner (my mother) wasn't too pleased.

The open kitchen concept, to me, was a flop because it really made me feel very uncomfortable.

I love how they included the plastic bottle Heinz Ketchup rather than the usual glass bottle, which really changed the total feel of Chili's table dining presentation.

Menu

Salad Menu

Chili's had an extensive menu of items to choose from, including different variations of salad! This made us very pleased because we have a lot of options. They are also very detailed in describing each set of food, and the service crew was very helpful in explaining to us each dish.

Big Mouth Bites - $24.00

These four savoury mini fresh beef burgers is made with USDA choice ground steak. It is also topped with applewood smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, sauteed onions and Ranch dressing on sesame seed buns. The buns were not as tasty, but the focus is really on the meat! Served with crispy onion strings and jalapeño-ranch dressing, big mouth bites is really delicious and definitely a MUST-TRY!

Overview (crispy onion strings & jalapeño-ranch dressing)
This is a dish that can be shared by two medium-sized eaters, therefore its' quite worth it! smile

Country Fried Chicken - $19.00
This pork-tender battered chicken breast is served with traditional mashed potatoes and black pepper gravy. It is also served with corn on the cob and garlic toast, which I must place emphasis that the CFC is really my favourite. The chicken which was crispy on the outside, juicy and tender in the inside, gives me a verdict that it is the BEST CHICKEN I've ever eaten! The corn was really sweet and not too oily, and the mashed potatoes bathed in gravy sauce was a perfect combination to make me feel more full.

They were a little stingy on their black pepper gravy though, because it tasted SOOOOO DELICIOUS, it was peppery and salty, making the chicken moist and a whole lot tastier! lol

The potatoes were given in a right portion, sometimes certain restaurants give too much mashed potatoes or too little. Chili's do measure their portion for the asian appetite really well!

Topical Sunrise Margarita - $16.00
A tropical sunrise margarita is a beverage best taken in summer (which Singapore has all year round) because it is refreshing and cools you down! While the alcoholic content was quite strong, the sweet sourness of the drink amplifies the flavour of all the dishes. I thoroughly enjoyed the refreshing drink kindly recommended by the waiter. Oh yes, you can share it with two or three people because the cup was as huge as my face, shocked ha-ha-ha.

If you are looking for a meal budgeted below $50, I'd recommend that you order all three items that I've ordered. I can't ask for more, they are a perfect combination to a happy, blissful evening with the family! As for the service, I'd give it a neutral rating because I was pleased by the waiter who served us but not the waitress who handled us in our seating... really quite arrogant in the way she provides her service to us. sad

Investigative food OK Aug 08, 2013
Categories : Restaurant | Steaks and Grills

Charly T is a most unique persona ‘as it could have been, should have been, and as such would be’. ‘Charly’ first started as a nickname, which stuck with him for it described him so well.

‘Charly’ in Mandarin, '‘查理’, means to investigate, search, and research – or more simply, the ‘seeker of truth’.

‘Charly’ in the West comes from the base word ‘Charles’, which in German means a free-spirited man.

Free-spirited, curious and adventurous, Charly T enjoys in equal parts food, music and the art of food journeying. Much of this could be seen from the decorations of the restaurant, with a sliding door (as the entrance to the toilet) and photographs on the wall featuring journey and travel.

Kansas City Ribeye Steak - $24.00

An overview of the KC Ribeye Steak
I ordered medium, which proved too tough for my razor-sharp teeth. I guess only vampires have strong enough fangs to sink into such tough meat, or perhaps Wolverine from X-men would see fit.

Anyway it was quite surprising because the innerparts showed bloody red but the meat was quite tough (yet chewy at the same time), my jaws were really having a great workout.

I love the vegetables that came along with it! It was really fresh and juicy, perhaps slightly steamed because it wasn't too raw.

The sauce that came along with it was really unique, it probably is the specialty of Kansas City sauces because I've never tasted such sour-sweet bitterness before. I wasn't too used to it though.

Lamb Stew - $18.00

The lamb stew is pure shiokness (singlish: delicious in the utmost perfection), it was warm and soft and juicy and not too fattening. I could feel my body sinking into the chair as it relaxes itself from such a little piece of heavenly meat. smile tongue

The rice that came along with it though, was very fragrant and tasted like Mediterranean cuisine. I would highly recommend the Lamb Stew if you don't want to waste your calories.

Chicken Cordon Bleu - $18.50

The chicken cordon Bleu is one of the popular favourites among the locals. It is actually chicken fried in bread crust that has ham and cheese stuffed in it. Total perfection, absolutely delicious!

I love the melted cheese and the spices that they used to marinate the chicken. YUM YUM! This is my #1 favourite out of the three dishes ordered.

Receipt

The meal was quite costly though, perhaps we were paying for the rental rather than the food. I was blessed to have great customer service waiting on us, she gave me many good advices on what to order and the tea to go along with it as well. You can get free hot water refill for your tea!

Total Cost - $70.05

The storefront is quite striking, located right beside Tiong Bahru bakery so its' a great time to do some cafe hopping. While its' not very crowded on a Saturday afternoon, it is best that you avoid peak hours from 12-2pm.

Here are the opening hours written on the window.

I love the cozy interior design, it does not really follow any particular theme but it made me felt so homely, a great place to hang out with friends!

The service crew was excellent, extremely friendly and cheerful.

I love how the menu boards had large typefaces.. you know some restaurants where they purposely write so tiny that you have to squint your eyes and sometimes, you can't even read after squinting? Their pictorial layout on chalk makes it so much more fun and light-hearted!

This was rather inconsistent with their whole shop layout but well, it's more official.

I ordered this lovely Raspberry Cream Cheese at an affordable price of $6. The food wasn't exceptional, it was rather normal but I love the vibe of the place! They even have lovely fake flowers so that you can take pictures with it.

The raspberry was overshadowed by the strong taste of cream cheese, and i felt rather unhealthy after eating it because cream cheese is fattening. Fattening.

My friends and I were most fascinated by their lovely Latte art... we had a competition whereby we try to drink the coffee without destroying the Latte art, of course we failed, but it was a fun experience though!

Caramel Macchiato (Regular: $5.50)
I prefer the Caramel Macchiato out of the other three cups, because honestly, it was much more sweeter. The other two were understandably too bitter, and while I don't think they use a fair grade of premium coffee, it is actually quite a nice place to relax and chill out (chillax).

Flat White (Regular: $4.50)
The cup of coffee got cold quite quickly, and I believe it was because they didn't warm up the cups, unlike how The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf would purposefully place the cups on top of the espresso machines so that the cups will be kept warm, thus the coffee will not turn cold too quickly.

Trying to tastefully take a nice shot, *giggles*

All in all, I think it is the ambience that people come to the Orange Thimble for, because the coffee and the cake weren't all that special. I didn't try the mains though, may go back there again in future smile
